Objectives: To evaluate the safety, efficacy, and patient-reported outcomes of Aquablation therapy using the AQUABEAM Robotic System for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in a Japanese population.

Methods: This post-market use-results survey included 103 Japanese men with BPH who underwent Aquablation across five centers with previously Aquablation naïve physicians. Data were collected at baseline, during the procedure, at discharge, and at 3 and 6 months post-procedure.

Time-course assessment of oral intake function and its impact on end-of-life in older individuals over 90 years with frailty.

Aim: The study investigates end-of-life trajectories, focusing on the degree of oral intake function in older individuals with frailty aged over 90 years.

Methods: This retrospective observational study examined individuals aged 90 years and older who passed away at a long-term chronic care hospital and related facilities in Japan. We assessed their Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) and Function Oral Intake Scale (FOIS), categorizing them into two groups-"preserved CFS" (CFS score ≤7) and "poor CFS" (CFS score ≥8)-considering evaluations conducted 6 months before death.

To investigate ciliochoroidal detachment (CCD) frequency and risk factors after performing goniotomy with the Kahook Dual Blade (KDB). The presence of CCD was examined using anterior-segment optical coherence tomography at postoperative day (POD) 1, month 1, and month 2 in 91 eyes of patients who underwent goniotomy with KDB. Intraocular pressure (IOP) was also measured at POD 1, POD 7, month 1 and month 2.

Clinical characteristics and predictors of long-term postoperative urinary incontinence in patients treated with robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: A propensity-matched analysis.

Objectives: This study aimed to elucidate the clinical characteristics and predictors of long-term postoperative urinary incontinence (PUI) after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP).

Methods: This study included patients who underwent RARP at our institution and were stratified into PUI (≥1 pad/day) and continence (0 pad/day) groups at 60 months after RARP. A propensity score-matched analysis with multiple preoperative urinary status (Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite urinary subdomains, total International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), and IPSS-quality of life scores) was performed to match preoperative urinary status in these groups.

Adipsic hypernatremia with marked hyperprolactinemia and GH deficiency in a 9-year-old boy.

Adipsic hypernatremia is typically caused by congenital dysplasia of the hypothalamus and pituitary or brain tumors. However, cases of adipsic hypernatremia without underlying organic abnormalities are rare, and some cases have been reported to be complicated by hypothalamic-pituitary dysfunction. The patient in this case was a 9-yr-old boy who was referred to our hospital because of hypernatremia.

Upstroke time is a more useful marker of atherosclerosis than percentage of mean arterial pressure for detecting coronary artery disease in subjects with a normal ankle-brachial index.

Upstroke time (UT) and percentage of mean arterial pressure (%MAP) at the ankle have been shown to serve as atherosclerotic markers. The purpose of this study was to directly compare the diagnostic accuracy of UT with that of %MAP for clinical coronary artery disease (CAD) in subjects with a normal ankle-brachial index (ABI) in both legs. We measured UT and %MAP in 1953 subjects with a normal ABI.

Methods: We investigated the associations between ABSI and first major cardiovascular events (death from cardiovascular disease, nonfatal acute coronary syndrome, and nonfatal stroke) in 1857 subjects from the database of Flow-Mediated Dilation Japan registry and from Hiroshima University Vascular Function registry.

Emergency medical service response for cases of stroke-suspected seizure: A population-based study.

Objectives: We evaluated the on-scene time of emergency medical services (EMS) for cases where discrimination between acute stroke and epileptic seizures at the initial examination was difficult and identified factors linked to delays in such scenarios.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of cases with suspected seizure using the EMS database of fire departments across six Japanese cities between 2016 and 2021 was conducted. Patient classification was based on transport codes.

To investigate the association between lactate metabolism and glaucoma, we conducted a multi-institutional cross-sectional clinical study and a retinal metabolomic analysis of mice with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) induced by intracameral microbead injection. We compared lactate concentrations in serum and aqueous humor in age-matched 64 patients each with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and cataract. Neither serum nor aqueous humor lactate concentrations differed between the two groups.

This case report describes a 19-year-old woman with skeletal Class I crowding and an unsalvageable maxillary right central incisor. She visited our clinic with the chief complaint of mobility of the maxillary right central incisor due to a traffic accident. After extraction of the maxillary right central incisor, the space was closed orthodontically.

Background: The Recap of atopic eczema (RECAP), a new core outcome of the atopic dermatitis trial, was translated into Japanese and linguistically validated.

Methods: Translation into Japanese was accomplished according to the ISPOR (International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research) guidelines and the basic guidelines for scale translation. The translation process included two forward translations, reconciliation with native English speakers, third-party back translation, cognitive debriefing, review and harmonization by the original authors.

Efficacy and safety of second-line cabozantinib after immuno-oncology combination therapy for advanced renal cell carcinoma: Japanese multicenter retrospective study.

Immuno-oncology (IO) combination therapy is utilized as a first-line systemic treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma. However, evidence supporting the use of cabozantinib after IO combination therapy is lacking. We retrospectively analyzed patients who received second-line cabozantinib after IO combination therapy using the Japanese Urological Oncology Group (JUOG) database.
