We have reported the concurrent chemoradiation experience of local relapse of rectal cancer patients. From October 2004 to January 2007 we have treated consecutive 10 patients with radiation and the concurrent chemotherapy by CPT-11+S-1. Of 10 lesions, 5(50%)had a complete response, 2(20%)a partial response, 3(30%)a stable disease, yielding an overall response rate of 70%.

We report a 11-year-old girl who had abdominal pain, hematemesis and melena. On admission, endoscopy revealed multiple duodenal ulcers and abdominal computed tomography showed dilatation and wall thickness of the jejunum. Because she showed purpura on the lower extremities and a decreased serum level of the XIII factor, she was diagnosed as having Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP).

Background: Hormone receptor (HR)-positive breast cancer cells grow through estrogen receptor (ER)-signaling pathways that mediate both genomic and nongenomic actions, which cross-talk with growth factors associated with resistance to tamoxifen. The aim of this study was to explore the cross-talk between extranuclear expression of ER and progesterone receptor (PR) and growth factor signaling pathways in primary breast cancer.
Patients And Methods: The extranuclear expression of ER and PR was examined in 219 primary breast cancers by immunohistochemical staining.

We reported concurrent chemoradiation for postoperative recurrent esophageal cancer patients with lymph node metastases and a pulmonary metastasis. From October 2001 to January 2004, we treated 6 consecutive patients with radiation and concurrent chemotherapy using daily low-doses of CDDP and UFT-E. Of the 6 patients, 4 (67%) had a complete response and 2 (33%) a partial response, yielding an overall response rate of 100% (6/6).

We report our experience with concurrent chemoradiation for recurrent gastric cancers resistant to TS-1. From April 2000 to March 2003, we treated 10 consecutive patients with radiation and the concurrent single chemotherapy agent of TS-1 or CPT-11. Of the 10 patients, 3 (30%) had a complete response, 4 (40%) a partial response, and 3 (30%) stable disease, yielding an overall response rate of 70% (7/10).

In surgically resected specimens of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the lung from 45 patients, we immunohistochemically examined the expression of 13 subtypes of cytokeratin (CK), the intermediate filament in cytoplasm of epithelial cells. To investigate heterogeneity of CK, its expression was compared among tumor cell nests with or without keratinization and stratification. Furthermore, the relationship between CK expression and Ki-67 labeling index or p53 expression was investigated.

Study Design: A clinical study of the surgical procedure for cervical disc herniation was conducted.
Objectives: To describe microsurgical transdural discectomy with laminoplasty, and to assess the clinical outcome of this surgical technique.
Summary Of Background Data: A posterior approach for cervical disc herniation has been considered risky, and few reports on a transdural approach to this disorder have appeared in the past decade.
