Aims: To compare the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction, depression, lower mobility performance, disability and falls in older community-dwelling individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and in controls of similar age.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study in primary health care settings in 3 semi-urban regions in Greece. Were assessed 403 community-dwelling older persons (age ≥65 years, median: 73), 198 with and 205 without diabetes.

In pelvic organ prolapse, the anatomical defects develop at the anterior (anterior vaginal wall), the posterior (posterior vaginal wall) and the apical (the uterus/cervix or the apex of the vagina, vaginal vault or cuff scar after hysterectomy) compartments. Background: This 3-year prospective, observational, single-center study was undertaken to describe prescription, microbiology findings, tolerance, and efficacy of tigecycline for carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) infections after liver transplantation in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Methods: All patients after liver transplantation treated with tigecycline for ≥3 days for CRKP infections in our ICU from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2012, were studied. Patient characteristics, indication of treatment, bacteriology, and ICU mortality were collected.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) has emerged as an important cause of bloodstream infections in intensive care units (ICUs). The aim of this study was to determine risk factors for bloodstream infections caused by CRKP as well as risk factors for CRKP-associated mortality among ICU patients after orthotopic liver transplantation (LT).
Methods: The study cohort of this observational study comprised 17 ICU patients after LT with CRKP bloodstream infections.

This case shows the development of fulminant hepatic failure due to acute hepatitis B virus infection in a multipara (32(nd) week of gestation) candidate for an emergency liver transplantation. Preterm labor began and she delivered a preterm healthy male baby. Postpartum, there were complications including a massive hemorrhage that was managed adequately.

Unlabelled: The aim of the present review was to assess the relationship between pregnancy and/or lactation and breast cancer, the influence of pregnancy on mortality and prognosis of the disease, the consequences of breast cancer to the current pregnancy and also to discuss the future perspective for women's fertility.
Materials And Methods: Articles were obtained from Medline (1988 present) using as keywords breast cancer, pregnancy, breastfeeding, lactation, carcinoma and pregnancy.
Results: Unfortunately, delays in diagnosis and treatment are common during pregnancy and the prognosis is thus worsened.

Background: Intrauterine death of one twin in the second or third trimester occurs in about 1% of all twin pregnancies. The retention in utero of the dead fetus may be associated with maternal disseminated intravascular coagulation.
Case: We present the case of a diamniotic monochorionic pregnancy with intrauterine death of the first twin at 24 weeks.

Atypical polypoid adenomyoma (APA) is considered to be a rare, benign form of a polypoid mass that exhibits glandular and squamous epithelial cell proliferation with varying degrees of atypia in association with cellular smooth muscle stroma. More frequently it manifests during the reproductive and premenopausal age with a reported mean age of 40 years. The published series indicates an average risk of endometrial carcinoma of 8.

It is a disorder characterized by markedly decreased food intake accompanied by a distorted body image, resulting in an inability to maintain the body weight within 85% of ideal body weight. We describe a case of a pregnant woman diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at 28 weeks of gestation.

Aim: Monitor the performance of the amniocentesis procedure for prenatal diagnosis and particularly the acquisition of results (time to get, success in getting them).
Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective review of case notes of all pregnant women undergone amniocentesis in our department during the period 2002-2005. Two main operators performed the procedure, using 22 gauze needle usually and 20 gauze should longer needle was needed.
