A fifty year old male was diagnosed with bronchial HPV. He was treated with local interventional treatment argon plasma coagulation and subcutaneous injections bevacizumab. Spraying of the regions followed with a specially designed catheter with interferon-α (2b).

Higher prevalence and earlier appearance of geriatric phenotypes in old adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Aims: To compare the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction, depression, lower mobility performance, disability and falls in older community-dwelling individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and in controls of similar age.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study in primary health care settings in 3 semi-urban regions in Greece. Were assessed 403 community-dwelling older persons (age ≥65 years, median: 73), 198 with and 205 without diabetes.

Native tissue repair versus mesh repair in pelvic organ prolapse surgery.

In pelvic organ prolapse, the anatomical defects develop at the anterior (anterior vaginal wall), the posterior (posterior vaginal wall) and the apical (the uterus/cervix or the apex of the vagina, vaginal vault or cuff scar after hysterectomy) compartments. These defects occur in more than one compartment. Treatment of pelvic organ prolapse is commonly surgical, aiming to restore the anatomy of structures supporting the pelvic organs.

Endovascular repair of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms with the endurant stent-graft: a combined experience from three centers.

Background: Endovascular repair of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (RAAAs) has been previously reported to reduce mortality rates compared to open repair. Newer stent-grafts may provide even better results with applicability in a larger number of patients. We present our experience with the Medtronic Endurant endograft over a three-year period.

Tigecycline for treatment of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infections after liver transplantation in the intensive care unit: a 3-year study.

Background: This 3-year prospective, observational, single-center study was undertaken to describe prescription, microbiology findings, tolerance, and efficacy of tigecycline for carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) infections after liver transplantation in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Methods: All patients after liver transplantation treated with tigecycline for ≥3 days for CRKP infections in our ICU from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2012, were studied. Patient characteristics, indication of treatment, bacteriology, and ICU mortality were collected.

Bloodstream infections caused by carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae among intensive care unit patients after orthotopic liver transplantation: risk factors for infection and impact of resistance on outcomes.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) has emerged as an important cause of bloodstream infections in intensive care units (ICUs). The aim of this study was to determine risk factors for bloodstream infections caused by CRKP as well as risk factors for CRKP-associated mortality among ICU patients after orthotopic liver transplantation (LT).

Methods: The study cohort of this observational study comprised 17 ICU patients after LT with CRKP bloodstream infections.

Preterm delivery in a parturient candidate for emergency liver transplantation after hepatitis B virus infection related fulminant liver failure.

This case shows the development of fulminant hepatic failure due to acute hepatitis B virus infection in a multipara (32(nd) week of gestation) candidate for an emergency liver transplantation. Preterm labor began and she delivered a preterm healthy male baby. Postpartum, there were complications including a massive hemorrhage that was managed adequately.

Pregnancy-associated breast cancer--a review analysis.

Materials And Methods: Articles were obtained from Medline (1988 present) using as keywords breast cancer, pregnancy, breastfeeding, lactation, carcinoma and pregnancy.

Results: Unfortunately, delays in diagnosis and treatment are common during pregnancy and the prognosis is thus worsened.

D-dimer levels as a predicting factor for DIC following single twin death: a case report and review of the literature.

Background: Intrauterine death of one twin in the second or third trimester occurs in about 1% of all twin pregnancies. The retention in utero of the dead fetus may be associated with maternal disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Case: We present the case of a diamniotic monochorionic pregnancy with intrauterine death of the first twin at 24 weeks.

Incidental diagnosis of atypical polypoid adenomyoma in a young infertile woman.

Atypical polypoid adenomyoma (APA) is considered to be a rare, benign form of a polypoid mass that exhibits glandular and squamous epithelial cell proliferation with varying degrees of atypia in association with cellular smooth muscle stroma. More frequently it manifests during the reproductive and premenopausal age with a reported mean age of 40 years. The published series indicates an average risk of endometrial carcinoma of 8.

Anorexia nervosa in pregnancy: a case report and review of the literature.

Anorexia nervosa is a complex illness rarely encountered in pregnant women. It is a disorder characterized by markedly decreased food intake accompanied by a distorted body image, resulting in an inability to maintain the body weight within 85% of ideal body weight. We describe a case of a pregnant woman diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at 28 weeks of gestation.

A four-year retrospective study of amniocentesis: one centre experience.

Aim: Monitor the performance of the amniocentesis procedure for prenatal diagnosis and particularly the acquisition of results (time to get, success in getting them).

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective review of case notes of all pregnant women undergone amniocentesis in our department during the period 2002-2005. Two main operators performed the procedure, using 22 gauze needle usually and 20 gauze should longer needle was needed.
