Background And Aims: Emergence agitation is a significant clinical issue during recovery from general anesthesia. Patients after intracranial operations are even more vulnerable to the stress resulting from emergence agitation. Due to the limited data available in neurosurgical patients, we evaluated the incidence, risk factors, and complications of emergence agitation.

Background And Objectives: Despite surgical advances, postoperative complications persist, affecting oncologic outcomes and increasing treatment costs. It is important to identify a marker that can predict postoperative complications, which can help prehabilitate patients before surgery. This study evaluated sarcopenia as a predictive marker of postoperative complications in patients undergoing surgery for gastrointestinal (GI) or hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HPB) cancer.

Introduction: Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections of the musculoskeletal system are commonly missed due to their rarity and the absence of systemic symptoms. Here, we present a rare case of NTM infection following repair of an avulsed pectoralis major tendon in an immunocompetent host managed by a multi-disciplinary team specializing in musculoskeletal infections.

Introduction: Supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) aim to interrupt measles transmission by reaching susceptible children, including children who have not received the recommended two routine doses of MCV before the SIA. However, both strategies may miss the same children if vaccine doses are highly correlated. How well SIAs reach children missed by routine immunization is a key metric in assessing the added value of SIAs.

Unlabelled: COVID-19 infection can cause long-term effects, cumulatively known as long COVID syndrome. One such sequela is osteonecrosis of the femoral head (also called avascular necrosis of the femoral head, or AVNFH). On the basis of our 20-year experience in using bisphosphonate therapy in the successful management of osteonecrosis, we conducted the present study to evaluate the efficacy of the therapy in the management of post-COVID osteonecrosis of the femoral head.

Background And Aim: The interplay between cardiovascular disease (CVD), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) is well established. We aim at providing an evidence-based expert opinion regarding the prevention and treatment of both heart failure (HF) and renal complications in people with T2D.
Method: ology: The consensus recommendations were developed by subject experts in endocrinology, cardiology, and nephrology.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic gastrointestinal disease of unknown etiology, involving complex interactions between the gut microbiome and host immune response. The microbial dysbiosis is well documented in IBD and significantly influences the host metabolic pathways. Thus, a metabolomic fingerprint resulting from the influence of gut dysbiosis in IBD could aid in assessing the disease activity.

Background: Hypermanganesemia with dystonia 1 and 2 (HMNDYT1 and 2) are rare, inherited disorders of manganese transport.
Objectives: We aimed to describe clinical, laboratory features, and outcomes among children with HMNDYT.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective multicenter study involving tertiary centers across India.

Background: India did phased measles-rubella supplementary immunisation activities (MR-SIAs; ie, mass-immunisation campaigns) targeting children aged 9 months to less than 15 years. We estimated measles-rubella seroprevalence before and after the MR-SIAs to quantify the effect on population immunity and identify remaining immunity gaps.
Methods: Between March 9, 2018 and March 19, 2020 we did community-based, cross-sectional serosurveys in four districts in India before and after MR-SIAs.

Objective: To describe a management algorithm for cervicovertebral junction (CVJ) TB based upon disease severity and neurological status at presentation.
Methods: Retrospective cohort study of 52 patients treated for microbiologically or clinically-diagnosed CVJ TB at a tertiary referral center in a TB endemic area were identified. Data were gathered about presenting symptoms, baseline neurological status, management strategy, and management outcomes.

Introduction: Although poliomyelitis is on the verge of eradication, the survivors of this disease are still living with its complications. Polio survivors with its musculoskeletal complications will continue to be a part of our population for many more decades'. Although poliomyelitis in itself is not common today, fractures in polio affected patients' limbs are a common entity and are difficult to manage with common fracture management protocols.

Introduction: Lower limb amputations secondary to diabetic foot infection/osteomyelitis (OM) are the most common cause for non-traumatic amputations of the lower extremity. Hind/midfoot amputations are commonly done for metatarsal (MT) OM. They are, however, associated with higher complication and revision rates and often lead to below knee amputation.

The term difficult-to-treat resistance has been recently coined to identify Gram-negative bacteria exhibiting resistance to all fluoroquinolones and all β-lactam categories, including carbapenems. Such bacteria are posing serious challenges to clinicians trying to identify the best therapeutic option for any given patient. Delayed appropriate therapy has been associated with worse outcomes including increase in length of stay, increase in total in-hospital costs and ∼20% increase in the risk of in-hospital mortality.

To address the wide variation in access to cancer care in India requires strengthening of infrastructure, trained oncology workforce, and minimisation of out-of-pocket expenditures. However, even with major investments, it is unlikely to achieve the same level of infrastructure and expertise across the country. Therefore, a resource stratified approach driven by evidence-based and contextualised clinical guidelines is the need of the hour.

We recently completed a study involving nine serosurveys from 2018 to 2020 in five districts of India among three age groups (children 9 months to < 5 years; 5 to < 15 years of age, and women 15 to < 50 years of age before and after the measles and rubella (MR) vaccination campaigns). In Palghar district of Maharashtra all individuals in 30 selected clusters were enumerated, and 13 individuals per age group were randomly sampled.

Introduction: Patient-specific instruments (PSI) have been shown to be a good solution in getting accurate bone cuts in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in many studies. However, the need for an extra CT/MRI makes the existing PSI method costly and unsafe. X-ray-based PSI can solve these problems, if proven to be accurate.
