The present study was conducted to understand the key ecological and biological questions of conservation importance in Drepanostachyum falcatum which aimed to map potential distribution in the western Himalayas and decipher spatial genetic structure. Eco-distribution maps were generated through ecological niche modelling using the Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) algorithm implemented with 228 geocoordinates of species presence and 12 bioclimatic variables. Concomitantly, 26 natural populations in the western Himalayas were genetically analysed using ten genomic sequence-tagged microsatellite (STMS) markers.

Mycorrhizal fungi boost host plant growth by improving roots' ability to absorb nutrients and water from the rhizosphere soil. In this study, a mass inoculum of the ectomycorrhizal fungus Scleroderma polyrhizum was produced on wheat grains and incorporated into polybags during seed sowing of Pinus gerardiana, with the expectation that the roots of the germinating seedlings would form a mycorrhizal association with S. polyrhizum.

To test the tolerance and degradation potential of the cyanobacterium sp. lmga1 for surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), different doses of SDS (10, 30, 40, 50, 70 and 100 µM) were used for the growth. The lower doses of SDS supported the growth of cyanobacterium whereas the higher doses were found to be inhibitory but the cyanobacterium somehow managed its survival up to 100 µM SDS.
