In this work, a series of boronated amidines based on the -dodecaborate anion and amino acids containing an amino group in the side chain of the general formula [BHNHC(NH(CH)CH(NH)COOH)CH], where n = 2, 3, 4, were synthesized. These derivatives contain conserved α-amino and α-carboxyl groups recognized by the binding centers of the large neutral amino acid transporter (LAT) system, which serves as a target for the clinically applied BNCT agent para-boronophenylalanine (BPA). The paper describes several approaches to synthesizing the target compounds, their acute toxicity studies, and tumor uptake studies in vivo in two tumor models.

The Replicability Crisis and Human Agency in the Neo-Structured World.

Integr Psychol Behav Sci

January 2025

Department of Psychology, St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation.

The paper analyzes current discussions concerning the so called "replicability crisis" - a notion describing difficulties in attempts to confirm existing research findings by their additional scrutiny or by new empirical studies. We propose interpretation that this "crisis" may be seen as a manifestation of the increasing inconsistency between, on the one hand, the outdated views on a human being and social structures dominating in the academic mainstream across various disciplines, including psychology and sociology, and, on the other hand, the reality of the emerging new stage of societal evolution, neo-structuration, which brings to the forefront individual agency. Our analysis suggests the possibilities for the future inter-disciplinary paradigmatic shift, which implies putting in the center of research not the idea of a constant or predictably developing individual in the context of solid external structures operating in line with a presumably sustainable "progress".

Introduction: Aggression and self-harm disproportionately occur in youths preoccupied with social status tracking. These pathological conditions are linked to a serotonin (5-HT) deficit in the brain. Ablation of 5-HT biosynthesis by tryptophan hydroxylase 2 knockout (TPH2-KO) increases aggression in rodents.

Behavioral copying is a key process in group actions, but it is challenging for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We investigated behavioral contagion, or instinctual replication of behaviors, in Krushinky-Molodkina (KM) rats ( = 16), a new potential rodent model for ASD, compared to control Wistar rats ( = 15). A randomly chosen healthy Wistar male ("demonstrator rat") was introduced to the homecage of experimental rats ("observers") 10-14 days before the experiments to become a member of the group.

The selective reaction of cyclic aminoperoxides with FeCl proceeds through a sequence of O-O and C-C bond cleavages, followed by intramolecular cyclization, yielding functionalized tetrahydrofurans in 44-82% yields. Replacing the peroxyacetal group in the peroxide structure with a peroxyaminal fragment fundamentally alters the reaction pathway. Instead of producing linear functionalized ketones, this modification leads to the formation of hard-to-access substituted tetrahydrofurans.

Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, 1-A Akademika Semenova av., 142432 Chernogolovka, Russia and National Research University Higher School of Economics, Faculty of Physics, Myasnitskaya 20, 101000 Moscow, Russia.

We study one-point statistics of helical turbulent pulsations in the background of a three-dimensional large-scale vortex in a rotating fluid. Assuming that the helical flow is created by a statistically axially symmetric random force with broken mirror symmetry, we analytically calculate the velocity-vorticity mean including its magnitude and the anisotropy. For electrically conducting liquid, we examine the α-effect in the system.

To investigate the influence of phthalocyanine aggregation on their photodynamic activity, a series of six cationic water-soluble zinc(II) phthalocyanines bearing from four to sixteen 4-((diethylmethylammonium)methyl)phenoxy substituents was synthesized. Depending on their structure, the phthalocyanines have different aggregation behaviors in phosphate buffer solutions ranging from fully assembled to monomeric states. Remarkably, independent of aggregation in buffer, very high photodynamic efficiencies against the tumor cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 in the nanomolar range were found for all investigated phthalocyanine, and the IC(light) varied from 27 to 358 nM (3.

In pursuit of identifying less toxic hybrid compounds suitable for optoelectronic applications, we synthesized a novel homopiperazinium bromoantimonate(III), (CHN){SbBr}. It readily crystallized from an aqueous hydrobromic acid solution and was found to be stable both in air and upon heating up to 175 °C. The crystal structure of the new bromoantimonate(III) consisted of {SbBr} zigzag chains, which were composed of strongly trigonally distorted SbBr octahedral anions and CHN dications.

  • Recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) have the potential to improve conversational agents in mental healthcare, but challenges such as limited training data and privacy concerns persist.
  • A proposed solution involves leveraging human-AI annotation systems based on public domain discussions on social media, which require extensive cleaning to be effective.
  • Our research shows that while zero-shot classification offers some benefits for categorizing discussions about psychiatric disorders, fine-tuning LLMs significantly enhances accuracy, though it comes with a trade-off in processing speed.

International literature on the history of Russian psychology is largely limited to the development of Activity theory and cultural-historical theory. This paper aims to go beyond these limits by introducing a figure little known to an international audience, Boris Parygin, who emerged in the 1960s with his "grand" project for the development of Russian social psychology, significantly different from the Soviet psychology "mainstream," stemming from Vygotsky, Luria, and Alexei Nikolaevich Leontiev. We demonstrate that Parygin's works belong to a theoretical and methodological tradition of social and humanitarian scholarship that had been developing in Russia since 1870s.

We give a description of the Hallnäs-Ruijsenaars eigenfunctions of the 2-particle hyperbolic Ruijsenaars system as matrix coefficients for the order 4 element acting on the Hilbert space of (2) quantum Teichmüller theory on the punctured torus. The (2) Macdonald polynomials are then obtained as special values of the analytic continuation of these matrix coefficients. The main tool used in the proof is the cluster structure on the moduli space of framed (2)-local systems on the punctured torus, and an -equivariant embedding of the (2) spherical DAHA into the quantized coordinate ring of the corresponding cluster Poisson variety.
