Introduction: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting hair follicles, causing recurrent abscesses and nodules in intertriginous regions. The International HS Severity Score System (IHS4) is widely used to assess HS severity by counting inflammatory nodules, abscesses, and draining fistulas/tunnels. However, traditional clinical examinations may underestimate HS severity due to the presence of subclinical lesions.

Background: Therapeutic options for mild hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) represent a significant gap in the current treatment landscape, with no FDA approved therapies for early stage HS. Topical JAnus Kinase inhibitors (JAKi) are a compelling option due to the known upregulation of inflammatory JAK signaling in HS lesions and the recent success of systemic JAKi for moderate to severe HS.
Objectives: This is a pilot, single-site, open-label, prospective 24-week clinical trial with topical ruxolitinib (NCT04414514).

Introduction: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic skin disease marked by recurrent abscesses, sinus tracts, and scarring, often accompanied by systemic symptoms. Diagnosed clinically, HS affects around 0.4% of people in western populations, but standardized treatment options are limited, leading to inconsistent outcomes.

Previous research has highlighted a significant association between inflammatory proteins and the development and progression of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Nevertheless, the potential causative link between these factors remains to be definitively established. To investigate the genetic correlation between inflammatory proteins and HS, linkage disequilibrium score regression (LDSC) was employed.

Introduction: This second part of the S2k guidelines is an update of the 2015 S1 European guidelines.
Objective: These guidelines aim to provide an accepted decision aid for the selection, implementation and assessment of appropriate and sufficient therapy for patients with hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa (HS).
Methods: The chapters have been selected after a Delphi procedure among the experts/authors.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory skin disorder presenting with painful and draining nodules in intertriginous areas that may progress to sinus tracts. There is an increased prevalence of obesity in HS, and obesity may predispose patients to HS. Weight loss has been associated with improvement of HS symptoms.

Aggressive angiomyxoma (AA) is a very rare tumour arising from the vulvovaginal mesenchymal tissue. The literature has not reported its co-existence with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). A 30-year-old female presented with a giant pedunculated mass arising from a scarred and disfigured perineum for 3 years.

Inflammatory skin diseases impose a significant burden on patients and healthcare systems worldwide. Among these, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is particularly notable for its chronic and recurrent nature. Recurrent nodules, abscesses, and scarring in apocrine gland-rich areas characterize the disease, including the groin, axillae, and perianal regions.

Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects hair follicles in areas with apocrine sweat glands, such as the underarms, groin, and buttocks. The pathogenesis of HS is not fully understood, but considering the key role played by the biological clock in the control of immune/inflammatory processes the derangement of circadian and ultradian pathways could be hypothesized.
Methods: We analyzed genome-wide DNA methylation patterns in peripheral blood from 24 HS cases and 24 controls using the Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChip array (Illumina), followed by bioinformatics and statistical analyses.

A 56-year-old male presented to the clinic for follow-up of severe, longstanding hidradenitis suppurativa. On physical examination, there was a linear Blaschkoid distribution of erythematous scaly papules extending from the left upper arm toward the scapular mid-back region. A clinical diagnosis of linear psoriasis was made, and the patient's dosage interval of infliximab was decreased to every 6 weeks.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, debilitating inflammatory skin disease characterized by keratinized epithelial tunnels that grow deeply into the dermis. Here, we examined the immune microenvironment within human HS lesions. Multi-omics profiling and multiplexed imaging identified tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) near HS tunnels.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a severe chronic inflammatory skin disease with limited response to therapy. In this issue of Immunity, Yu et al. identify skin tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) as primary sites for lymphocyte clonal expansion and autoantibody production, driving disease progression, and provide insight into how formation and maintenance of TLS impact therapeutic outcomes.

Introduction: The Hurley staging system is a grading system utilized to measure hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) severity. Teaching patients to grade the severity of HS may aid in the accuracy of self-reporting for research and clinical purposes. Thus, this study aimed to determine the utility of a Hurley stage learning module (HSLM) for participants to grade images of HS.

Background: Deroofing and local excision are common clinic-based surgical options for hidradenitis suppurativa. Evidence suggests deroofing may have lower rates of adverse events (AEs), defined as disease recurrence or postsurgical complications.
Objective: This cost-utility analysis evaluates the economic and health-related impacts of clinic-based deroofing vs excision for hidradenitis suppurativa, comparing direct medical costs and quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs).
