Background: Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is the most lethal and devastating subtype of stroke. Basal ganglia hemorrhage and thalamic hemorrhage are the most common types of ICH, accounting for 50-70% of all ICH cases, leading to disability and death, and it involves the posterior limb of the internal capsule to varying degrees. In this study, we investigated the impact of varying degrees of the involvement of the posterior limb of the internal capsule on the prognosis of patients with basal ganglia and thalamic ICH and assessed whether it improves the predictive accuracy of the max-ICH score, an existing scale for ICH functional outcome.

Background: Chemoimmunotherapy is the first-line therapy for patients with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and is currently the main induction treatment option for patients with locoregionally advanced NPC. However, it remains unclear whether combining immunotherapy with standard induction chemotherapy enhances its efficacy. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy, toxicity, and survival outcomes of induction chemoimmunotherapy in patients with locoregionally advanced NPC.

Aims: We aim to explore the predictive value of admission blood glucose to serum albumin ratio (AAR) for futile recanalization after successful interventional recanalization of acute cerebral infarction.
Methods: We retrospectively collected the data of patients suffered from acute cerebral infarction due to anterior circulation large vessel occlusion and received successful interventional recanalization from January 2019 to November 2023. Statistical analysis of clinical data was conducted using SPSS 26.

Importance: Persisting or new thrombi in the distal arteries and the microcirculation have been reported to limit the benefits of successful endovascular thrombectomy for patients with acute ischemic stroke. It remains uncertain whether intra-arterial thrombolysis by urokinase following near-complete to complete reperfusion by thrombectomy improves outcomes among patients with ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion.
Objective: To assess the efficacy and adverse events of intra-arterial urokinase after near-complete to complete reperfusion by thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion.

Background: As unhealthy diets have proliferated, there has been an increasing trend in the prevalence of obesity along with socioeconomic progress. WWI, mainly representing weight-independent central obesity, is a more accurate indicator of obesity than BMI and WC. Klotho is known to be one of the root causes of several age-related illnesses.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of using F-labeled fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) PET/CT in assessing the fibrotic remodeling of the pulmonary artery (PA) and the right ventricle (RV) in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In a rat model of monocrotaline-induced PAH, rats were euthanized at different time points for tissue analysis (fibroblast activation protein immunofluorescence and Masson's trichrome staining) after completing F-FAPI PET/CT and hemodynamic measurements. Thirty-eight PAH patients were enrolled to participate in F-FAPI PET/CT imaging, with right heart catheterization and echocardiography performed within 1 wk to assess pulmonary hemodynamics and cardiac function.

Primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma (PHLS) is an extremely rare malignant tumor, which is often elusive in early diagnosis due to its rarity and nonspecific clinical and imaging presentations. Herein, we present a case of PHLS in a 66-year-old male and a review of the English literature from January 2000 to December 2023, focusing on the clinical and imaging characteristics of 30 patients with PHLS. The present patient was admitted to our hospital with complaints of abdominal distension, with history of hepatitis B.

Background: Among diabetes mellitus (DM) patients, stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) is a strong predictor of short- and long-term prognosis, and adverse cardiovascular events. However, whether SHR is associated with increased risk of presence and severity of chronic kidney (CKD) disease remains undetermined.
Methods: Patients with DM from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database (1999-2020) were included and divided into 5 groups according to their SHR level (quintile 1 to 5).

Background And Aims: Observational studies have highlighted that gestational diabetes mellitus is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases, but the causality remains unclear. Herein, the causality between genetic predisposition to gestational diabetes mellitus and the risk of cardiovascular diseases was investigated using sex-specific Mendelian randomization analysis.
Methods: Linkage disequilibrium score regression analysis and two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis were applied to infer the genetic correlation and causality, respectively.

Purpose: To explore whether the failure of early neurological improvement can predict futile recanalization after successful interventional recanalization of anterior circulation tandem lesions.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of patients who received successful interventional recanalization treatment of anterior circulation tandem lesions from January 2019 to November 2023. The failure of early neurological improvement is defined as a decrease of less than 4 points in NIHSS score compared to preoperative score at 24 h after surgery.

Neutrophil polarization contributes to inflammation and its resolution, but the role of neutrophil polarization in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury remains unknown. Cardiomyocytes (CMs) participate in cardiac inflammation by secreting extracellular vesicles (EVs). Therefore, we investigated the role of neutrophil polarization in myocardial I/R injury and the mechanism by which CM-derived EVs regulated neutrophil polarization.

Patients benefit greatly from early detection of colorectal cancer, but present diagnostic procedures have high costs, low sensitivity, and low specificity. However, it is still difficult to develop a strategy that can effectively detect cancer early using high-throughput blood analysis. Fano resonance-boosted SERS platform label-free serum creates an effective diagnostic system at the point of care.

Objectives: To propose a histological-grades-based Osseous Tumor Radiological and Interpretation and Management System (OT-RIMS) that would simplify the radiological evaluation of bone tumours, categorize key radiological features into severity levels, and inform corresponding patient management actions.
Methods: This retrospective study between January 2015 and August 2022 evaluated patients with solitary bone tumours confirmed by pathology and imaging follow-up received 2 or 3 imaging modalities of radiographs, CT, or MRI. Three radiologists independently assessed radiological features, categorized bone lesions based on OT-RIMS criteria, and reached a consensus.

Introduction: Advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) is common among patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), and angiotensin‑converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) or angiotensin‑receptor blockers (ARB) can improve cardiac and renal function, but whether ACEI/ARB therapy improves long-term prognosis remains unclear among these high-risk patients. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the relationship between ACEI/ARB therapy and long-term prognosis among CAD patients with advanced CKD.
Methods: CAD patients with advanced CKD were included in five hospitals.

Purpose: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is inherently a complex inflammatory syndrome, and heightened inflammation is strongly associated with an increased risk of death. However, the association of systemic inflammation levels with total and cardiovascular death among patients with HFpEF remains unknown. We aimed to investigate the prognostic impact of systemic inflammation on all-cause and cardiovascular death among patients with HFpEF.
