Diaphyseal forearm fractures in children are common and knowledge of both ordinary and rare variations of these are important to deliver the best treatment as presented in this review. Closed reduction and cast immobilisation are effective and well-documented treatments for most fractures. Fractures which cannot be sufficiently treated in a cast are stabilised with elastic stable intramedullary nailing which is an effective treatment with a low complication rate.

A 65-year-old male with disseminated prostate cancer and newly diagnosed colonic cancer underwent elective robotic right hemicolectomy with intracorporeal anastomosis and had an uncomplicated short-term postoperative course. More than two years after the index operation, the patient presented with a late anastomotic leakage and underwent reoperation with re-anastomosis. This case report describes an atypical late anastomotic leakage in a patient treated with intracorporeal ileocolic anastomosis.

Insulinomas are rare neoplasms which may cause significant symptoms and substantially reduce quality of life. In operable patients, the current treatment is primarily surgery with either enucleation or resection of all or parts of the gland. This treatment is associated with high morbidity and long convalescence.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affects more than 30,000 Danes. In this review, we discuss RA in connection with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis and interstitial lung disease (ILD) which are among the most common lung manifestations and are associated with increased mortality. Early suspicion based upon respiratory symptoms should prompt imaging and pulmonary function test.

Physical function (PF) is a strong predictor for length of stay, complications, readmission, and mortality among patients across different diagnoses. Still, systematic assessment of PF in hospitalised patients is not common, and if, only among the oldest. In this review, we suggest implementation of an easily applicable and validated test battery using the Cumulated Ambulation Score for basic mobility, Handgrip strength for general muscle strength, and the 30s Chair Stand Test for combined function and muscle strength for early identification and treatment of reduced PF in adult patients across diagnoses.

COPSAC, Copenhagen Prospective Studies on Asthma in Childhood, Københavns Universitetshospital - Herlev og Gentofte Hospital.
The incidence of asthma and obesity in childhood has been increasing for decades. Obesity-related asthma is thought to be influenced by changes in the lungs’ mechanical properties and airway remodeling due to systemic inflammation and metabolic dysregulation. It is characterized by Th1-inflammation and impaired lung function, which responds poorly to conventional asthma treatment with inhaled β2-agonists and corticosteroids.

Overweight and diabetes (DM) result in premature cardiovascular disease. Even if unaccompanied by ischaemic heart disease, DM stiffens the circulation, which may result in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Magnetic resonance imaging studies have documented cardiac hypertrophy, myocardial vascular rarefaction, and myocardial fibrosis in patients with type 2 DM.

Background: Magnetic resonance-guided radiotherapy (MRgRT) utilization is rapidly expanding, driven by advanced capabilities including better soft tissue imaging, continuous intrafraction target visualization, automatic triggered beam delivery, and the availability of on-table adaptive replanning. Our objective was to describe patterns of 0.35 Tesla (T)-MRgRT utilization in Europe and Asia among early adopters of this novel technology.

Postcoital vaginal cuff dehiscence is a rare but well documented complication of hysterectomy. Common symptoms are vaginal bleeding and abdominopelvic pain with or without evisceration of the intraperitoneal contents through the separated vaginal cuff, which can lead to bowel injury, necrosis and sepsis. This potentially life-threatening condition usually occurs during the first postoperative act of intercourse or within the first few months of surgery.

Radiomics is an emerging field that translates medical images into quantitative data to enable phenotypic profiling of human disease. In this retrospective study, we asked whether it is possible to use image-based phenotyping to describe and determine prognostic factors in the aging population. A radiomic frailty cohort with 101 patients was included in the analysis (65 ± 15 years, 55 men).

While the Danish Health Authority has withdrawn the vaxzevria vaccine from the Danish vaccination programme due to reports of rare cases of severe side effects, this case report presents a potential beneficial side effect of this vaccine. A patient presented, three days after her first jab, with localized itching and bleeding from a pigmented tumour on her lower leg, which was therefore excised, and, unexpectedly, diagnosed as a melanoma. We speculate if the vaccine-induced immune reaction resulted in increased immune activity within the tumour environment, and thus facilitated the early diagnosis of melanoma.

This review summarises the current knowledge of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) which is still the most potent and fast-acting antidepressant intervention. The modern procedure is safe when general precautions are taken. Cognitive side effects are transient in most patients, and concerns about side effects should not prevent relevant use.

The main symptom of a groin hernia is a bulge in the groin. The clinical examination is often sufficient for the diagnosis. Imaging is only necessary when the diagnosis is uncertain, where ultrasound is the first choice, but one must also consider differential diagnoses in these cases.

Dyslipidaemia is a modifiable cause of increased mortality in patients with mental illness. We described prevalence, aetiology and treatment of dyslipidaemia in patients with mental illness. Patients with mental illness have a higher prevalence of dyslipidaemia than the general population due to genetic predisposition, unhealthy lifestyle and/or psychotropic medications.
