Background: Ergot-derived dopamine agonists are thought to induce fibrotic changes in cardiac valve leaflets. We sought to determine the incidence of heart valve disease in women treated with bromocriptine compared with age and sex matched controls from the background population.
Methods: In nationwide Danish registries we identified female patients treated with bromocriptine in the period 1995-2018.

Introduction: In the management of type 2 diabetes, autonomy-supporting interventions may be a prerequisite to achieving more long-term improvement. Preliminary evidence has shown that the guided self-determination (GSD) method might have an effect on haemoglobin A1c and diabetes distress in people with type 1 diabetes. Previous trials were at risk of uncertainty.

Objective: The objective of this scoping review is to identify and map measurement tools for evaluating disease-specific quality of life and symptoms in adults with atrial fibrillation. The review will also identify key concepts that differentiate quality of life from symptom experience.
Introduction: Quality of life is a broad concept influenced by physical health, psychological state, degree of independence, and social/functional status.

Background: More than half of children and adolescents have experienced headache within the last 3 months. Several risk factors for headache have been identified, including obesity and lack of sleep. The association between screen time and headache in children and adolescents is sparsely investigated.

Aim: To estimate the effect of laparoscopy versus laparotomy on recurrence status in patients undergoing intended curative resection for stage I-III colon cancer using nationwide data.
Method: A retrospective cohort study using prospectively collected nationwide quality assurance data on all patients undergoing elective, intended curative surgery for UICC stage I-III colon cancer in Denmark from 1 January 2010, through 31 December 2013. The association between laparoscopic versus open surgery and recurrence status was investigated using cause-specific hazard and subdistribution hazard models with death from any cause as a competing event.

Background: The long-term management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) poses many challenges. In short-term studies, eHealth interventions have been demonstrated to be safe and practical for at-home monitoring of the effects of probiotic treatments and a diet low in fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols (FODMAPs). IBS has been linked to alterations in the microbiota.

Based on its prevalence, Tourette syndrome cannot be considered a rare condition. However, in this opinion article, we make the claim that it should nonetheless be considered as an orphan or neglected disease.

The spread of early-stage (T1 and T2) adenocarcinomas to locoregional lymph nodes is a key event in disease progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). The cellular mechanisms behind this event are not completely understood and existing predictive biomarkers are imperfect. Here, we used an end-to-end deep learning algorithm to identify risk factors for lymph node metastasis (LNM) status in digitized histopathology slides of the primary CRC and its surrounding tissue.

Unlabelled: Most patients cannot be included in randomized clinical trials. We report real-world outcomes of all Danish patients with multiple myeloma (MM) treated with daratumumab-based regimens until 1 January 2019.
Methods: Information of 635 patients treated with daratumumab was collected retrospectively and included lines of therapy (LOT), hematologic responses according to the International Myeloma Working Group recommendations, time to next treatment (TNT) and the cause of discontinuation of treatment.

Background: Ileal anastomosis is imperative in patients given a urinary diversion during radical cystectomy. Proper handling and staplers with a certain length are important to prevent stenosis of the bowel. The study aim was to compare the circumference and diameter of ileoileal anastomoses using the Endo GIA tri-stapler 45 mm and 60 mm iDrive systems compared to the RAL Endowrist DaVinci 45 mm.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess acute and late morbidity measured by the physician and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in high-risk prostate cancer (PC) patients receiving whole pelvic intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in the setting of a national clinical trial.
Material And Methods: A total of 88 patients with adenocarcinoma of the prostate and high-risk parameters were enrolled from 2011 to 2013. All patients received 78 Gy in 39 fractions of IMRT delivering simultaneous 78 Gy to the prostate and 56 Gy to the seminal vesicles and lymph nodes.

Background: In patients with active Crohn's disease (CD), treatment of intra-abdominal abscess usually comprises antibiotics and radiologically guided percutaneous drainage (PD) preceding surgery. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk of postoperative complications and identify the optimal time interval for surgical intervention after PD.
Methods: A multicentre, international, retrospective cohort study was carried out.

Stromal tumour infiltrating lymphocytes (sTILs) are a strong prognostic marker in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). Consistency scoring sTILs is good and was excellent when an internet-based scoring aid developed by the TIL-WG was used to score cases in a reproducibility study. This study aimed to evaluate the reproducibility of sTILs assessment using this scoring aid in cases from routine practice and to explore the potential of the tool to overcome variability in scoring.

Background: Patients with chronic diseases are at higher risk of requiring domiciliary and nursing home care, but how different chronic diseases compare in terms of risk is not known. We examined initiation of domiciliary care and nursing home admission among patients with heart failure (HF), stroke, COPD and cancer.
Methods: Patients with a first-time hospitalization for HF, stroke, COPD or cancer from 2008-2016 were identified.

Background: Addition of docetaxel to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for the treatment of metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) has been proved to be effective with an overall survival (OS) benefit in phase III clinical trials. The effectiveness of docetaxel with ADT in the general patient population remains unknown.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to report the clinical experience in mHSPC patients treated with 3rd-weekly docetaxel plus ADT in routine practice at two Danish institutions.

Silicone implants have been used for breast augmentations, both cosmetically and in reconstructive surgery since the 1960s. Rupture of breast implants and silicone migration is a well-known complication. In this case report and literature review, we present a case of a 53-year-old woman with bilateral cosmetic silicone gel breast implant in 1986, and a replacement with saline gel in 2005.

Ovarian cancer (OC), the eighth-leading cause of cancer-related death among females worldwide, is mainly represented by epithelial OC (EOC) that can be further subdivided into four subtypes: serous (75%), endometrioid (10%), clear cell (10%), and mucinous (3%). Major reasons for high mortality are the poor biological understanding of the OC mechanisms and a lack of reliable markers defining each EOC subtype. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that regulate gene expression primarily by targeting messenger RNA (mRNA) transcripts.

Part II of the European clinical guidelines for Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders (ECAP journal, 2011) provides updated information and recommendations for psychological interventions for individuals with tic disorders, created by a working group of the European Society for the Study of Tourette Syndrome (ESSTS). A systematic literature search was conducted to obtain original studies of psychological interventions for tic disorders, published since the initial European clinical guidelines were issued. Relevant studies were identified using computerized searches of the MEDLINE and PsycINFO databases for the years 2011-2019 and a manual search for the years 2019-2021.

Background: The standard treatment for gastroesophageal cancer is neoadjuvant chemotherapy, followed by surgery, which has been shown to increase survival compared with surgery alone. Evidence is mounting that characterization of the oncologically induced tumor regression is of prognostic importance. However, no consensus regarding the optimal system for describing tumor regression exists.
