Background: Sociolinguistic research on workplace mental health stigma is scarce and consequently, there are a lack of relevant conceptual models. Drawing on Goffman's notion of stigma as a 'language of relationships', and Heller's concept of 'discursive space', this paper offers a conceptual model of how stigma is produced and reinforced in workplace settings. Specifically, the model maps the complex discursive processes of mental health stigmatization through workplace discursive practices.

The roughskin dogfish Centroscymnus owstonii, a deep-sea shark, has a patchy global distribution, with most knowledge stemming from incidentally captured specimens. Using a deep-sea remote lander video system, we observed multiple C. owstonii individuals alive on the footage at 1054 m off Little Cayman, Cayman Islands, Western Atlantic Ocean, marking, to our knowledge, the first record of the species in the Greater Antilles, central Caribbean Sea, while also adding a new species locality record for the Cayman Islands.

Purpose: Exercise is known to acutely affect T-lymphocyte populations in the peripheral blood, which is intensity- and duration-dependent. However, effects of longer duration endurance exercise (>5 h) on T-cells in the days following are unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the circulating T-cell changes that occur in response to an ultra-endurance event, which may provide insight into the inflammatory response to ultra-endurance exercise.

Aims: Current evidence of the impact of acute exercise on insulin levels in individuals with type 1 diabetes remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore exercise-induced changes in insulin levels.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a systematic review (until 05 November 2023) and meta-analysis exploring the effect of exercise on insulin concentration in individuals with type 1 diabetes.
Coloniality is strongly shaped by aspects of social foraging behaviour. For example, colonies may be important sources of information, while food competition may increase foraging efforts and limit colony size. Understanding foraging ecology considering these apparent trade-offs is required to develop a better understanding of colonial living.

Oceanic gateways play a crucial role in controlling global ocean circulation. However, gateway effects on low-latitude deep-water circulation are poorly understood. The South China Sea, located in the western Pacific, was influenced by changes in the equatorial and low-latitude gateways, which recorded significant oceanographic variations since the Oligocene.

Objectives: As we age our cognitive abilities can change. However, the degree of change experienced is influenced by a range of factors. To understand what the public know about risk and protective factors for cognitive ageing, a systematic review was conducted of studies considering what people know about brain health.

Vascular function serves as a prognostic marker for cardiovascular disease and may exhibit seasonal variations due to lifestyle and environmental factors. Our systematic review aimed to determine whether seasonal variations in vascular function are present. We conducted a search of five databases (MEDLINE via PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Biomed Central) to identify evidence of seasonal variations in vascular function.

Mistakes in machine learning practice are commonplace and can result in loss of confidence in the findings and products of machine learning. This tutorial outlines common mistakes that occur when using machine learning and what can be done to avoid them. While it should be accessible to anyone with a basic understanding of machine learning techniques, it focuses on issues that are of particular concern within academic research, such as the need to make rigorous comparisons and reach valid conclusions.

Acanthamoeba castellanii is the causative pathogen of a severe eye infection, known as Acanthamoeba keratitis and a life-threatening brain infection, named granulomatous amoebic encephalitis. Current treatments are problematic and costly and exhibit limited efficacy against Acanthamoeba parasite, especially the cyst stage. In parallel to drug discovery and drug repurposing efforts, drug modification is also an important approach to tackle infections, especially against neglected parasites such as free-living amoebae: Acanthamoeba.

The reaction of [Ir(IPr)H][BAr] (; IPr = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene; BAr = B{CH(3,5-CF)}) with ZnMe proceeds with CH elimination to give [Ir(IPr)(IPr')(ZnMe)H][BAr] (, where (IPr') is a cyclometalated IPr ligand). reacts with H to form tetrahydride [Ir(IPr)(ZnMe)H][BAr], , that loses H under forcing conditions to form [Ir(IPr)(ZnMe)H][BAr], . Crystallization of also results in the formation of its noncyclometalated isomer, [Ir(IPr)(ZnMe)][BAr], , in the solid state.

In this study, we explore the potential of composite probability distributions in effectively modeling claim severity data, which encompasses a spectrum of losses, ranging from minor to substantial. Our approach incorporates the innovative Mode-Matching technique to introduce a novel composite Lognormal-Burr distribution family. To comprehensively address the diverse risk characteristics exhibited by policyholders, we develop a regression model based on the composite Lognormal-Burr distribution.

Understanding storm impacts on marine vertebrate demography requires detailed meteorological data in tandem with long-term population monitoring. Yet most studies use storm proxies such as the North Atlantic Oscillation Index (NAOI), potentially obfuscating a mechanistic understanding of current and future risk. Here, we investigate the impact of extratropical cyclones by extracting north Atlantic winter storm characteristics (storm number, intensity, clustering and wave conditions) and relating these with long-term overwinter adult survival of three long-lived sympatric seabirds which winter at sea-common guillemot Uria aalge, Atlantic puffin Fratercula arctica and razorbill Alca torda.

COVID-19 infections have underlined that there can be substantial impacts on health after recovery, including elevated mortality. While such post-infection mortality (PIM) is clearly widespread, we do not yet have any understanding of its evolutionary dynamics. To address this gap, we use an eco-evolutionary model to determine conditions where PIM is evolutionarily favoured.

Objective: The current study assessed how individuals evaluate potential romantic partners who display either low, medium, or high levels of DT traits for short-term (STR) and long-term (LTR) relationships.
Methods: Nine fictitious persons in the form of vignettes (description of behavior and facial image) were presented to every participant. The sex of the fictitious persons was determined by sexual orientation of each participant, while the displayed faces were selected from an existing image bank and matched for physical attractiveness.

Quantum networks connect and supply a large number of nodes with multi-party quantum resources for secure communication, networked quantum computing and distributed sensing. As these networks grow in size, certification tools will be required to answer questions regarding their properties. In this work we demonstrate a general method to guarantee that certain correlations cannot be generated in a given quantum network.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the flutter kick on the propulsive force generated by a stroke. Eight male swimmers performed 20 m front crawl trials under two conditions: the Whole Condition, involving maximum effort (T100%) and stroke frequencies at 70, 80, and 90% of T100%, and the Arm Condition, which excluded the flutter kick and matched stroke frequencies with the Whole Condition. Various parameters, including swimming velocity, stroke frequency, stroke length, three-dimensional (3D) resultant hand speed, and hand propulsion were calculated based on underwater 3D motion analysis and hand pressure distribution measurements.
