Inflammatory Waldenström macroglobulinemia is associated with clonal hematopoiesis: a multicentric cohort.

Inflammatory form of Waldenström macroglobulinemia (iWM) predicts outcomes after immuno-chemotherapy and Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitors, but its origin is unknown. Here, we unravel increased clonal hematopoiesis in patients with iWM (61% vs 23% in noninflammatory WM), suggesting a contribution of environmental cells to iWM.

Safety and efficacy of newer liquid embolic agents Squid and PHIL in endovascular embolization of cerebral arteriovenous malformations and dural arteriovenous fistulas: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: A wide range of liquid embolic agents has been used in endovascular treatment (EVT) of dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) and cerebral arteriovenous malformations (cAVMs). Newer liquid embolics, Squid (Balt) and PHIL (MicroVention), aim to improve the safety and efficacy of EVT of dAVFs and cAVMs.

Objective: To assess the safety and efficacy of EVT of cAVMs and dAVFs using Squid or PHIL as an embolic agent.

Methods: We conducted a prevalent new-user cohort study using data from the French National Health Data System (SNDS), the British Association of Dermatologists Biologics and Immunomodulators Register (BADBIR), and the Spanish Registry of Systemic Therapy in Psoriasis (BIOBADADERM).

EUROVISCO Consensus Guidelines for the Use of Hyaluronic Acid Viscosupplementation in Knee Osteoarthritis Based on Patient Characteristics.

Objectives: Viscosupplementation with hyaluronic acid (HA) is a commonly used intra-articular treatment for osteoarthritis (OA). We performed a Delphi consensus process to formulate guidelines for the use of intra-articular hyaluronic acid (IAHA) knee injection according to the patient's characteristics.

Purpose: The dual mobility cup (DMC) reduces the dislocation rates in total hip arthroplasty (THA). DMC systems include anatomical (non-modular or monoblock) (ADM) and modular dual mobility (MDM) components (Stryker Orthopaedics, Mahwah, NJ, USA). This review aims to assess differences between these two types of DMC implants concerning dislocation and revision rates, as well as patient-reported outcomes.

Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) is a severe myeloid malignancy with limited therapeutic options. Assessing the efficacy of an educational video on stroke knowledge in Lebanon: a single-arm interventional study.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the public's knowledge of stroke before and after viewing an educational video about stroke risk factors, preventive measures, and alarming signs.

Methods: A single-arm interventional study was conducted in Lebanon using a 3-minute video-based education about stroke. A pre- and post-structured questionnaire compared the level of knowledge about stroke.

Improving genetic testing pathways for transthyretin amyloidosis in France: challenges and strategies.

Transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR) is a severe and rare disease characterized by the progressive deposition of misfolded transthyretin proteins, causing irreversible organ damage. Transthyretin amyloidosis can present as a hereditary ATTR or acquired wild-type ATTR form. Genetic testing is critical for determining a hereditary predisposition and subsequently initiating appropriate family screening.

Lymphadenopathy in systemic lupus erythematosus: no microbial trigger found by shotgun metagenomics in a retrospective study on 38 patients.

Objectives: Lymphadenopathy is a classical manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) flare, occurring in approximately half of patients during the course of the disease. Lymphadenopathy in SLE is frequently associated with fever. Microbial infection may play a role in SLE onset and flares.

Ischemic stroke can be affected by such events, either directly or through its risk factors. Therefore, the present study evaluates the effects of green spaces and noise exposure on the risk of ischemic stroke.

Patients undergoing CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy exhibit multiple immune deficits that may increase their susceptibility to infections. Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) are life-threatening events in the setting of hematologic diseases. However, there is ongoing debate regarding the optimal role and duration of antifungal prophylaxis in this specific patient population.

Dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 variants in West Africa: Insights into genomic surveillance in resource-constrained settings.

SARS-CoV-2 geno-surveillance has been challenging in West Africa. Despite the multiple challenges encountered, particularly in West Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts were made to circumscribe the spread of the disease and to provide methods and resources for surveillance. We aim to describe the dynamic of SARS-CoV-2 variants and highlight the efforts made in genomic surveillance in West Africa.

Endovascular therapy versus medical management in isolated posterior cerebral artery acute ischemic stroke: A multinational multicenter propensity score-weighted study.

Background: Despite the proven effectiveness of endovascular therapy (EVT) in acute ischemic strokes (AIS) involving anterior circulation large vessel occlusions, isolated posterior cerebral artery (PCA) occlusions (iPCAo) remain underexplored in clinical trials. This study investigates the comparative effectiveness and safety of EVT against medical management (MM) in patients with iPCAo.

Methods: This multinational, multicenter propensity score-weighted study analyzed data from the Multicenter Analysis of primary Distal medium vessel occlusions: effect of Mechanical Thrombectomy (MAD-MT) registry, involving 37 centers across North America, Asia, and Europe.

Proteomic Analysis of Fibroblasts Exposed to Resin Composite Release.

Objective: To investigate the potential effects of products released by a resin composite on the proteome of human gingival fibroblasts.

Methods: Fifteen resin composite cylinders of a Bis-GMA-based resin composite (Tetric EvoCeram, Ivoclar) were made and placed in a culture medium for 24 h. Then, 30 mL of this medium was placed for 72 h in contact with human gingival fibroblasts and a second control group consisted of cells placed in culture medium only.
