Background: Data on biosimilar use in pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are scarce compared to the status of studies in adults, resulting in limitations in its treatment. We compared effectiveness and safety of biosimilars versus originators in this population.
Methods: We used data from the French National Health Data System to identify children (less than 18 years old at treatment initiation) initiating treatment with a biosimilar or the originator infliximab or adalimumab for Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC), from first biosimilar launch (January 2015 and October 2018, respectively) to 31 December 2022.

Perivascular spaces (PVS) are fluid-filled structures that form the immediate peripheral environment of small cerebral vessels. They are a central component of the glymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in maintaining cerebral homeostasis. Their involvement in central nervous system diseases is currently a major focus of research, particularly in neuroimaging.

Background: Advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (aPDAC) is often accompanied by significant muscle mass loss, contributing to poor prognosis. SarcAPACaP, an ancillary study of the GERCOR-APACaP phase III trial, evaluated the role of adapted physical activity (APA) in aPDAC Western patients receiving first-line chemotherapy. The study aimed to assess (1) the potential impact of computed tomography (CT)-quantified muscle mass before and during treatments on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and overall survival (OS) and (2) the role of APA in mitigating muscle mass loss.

Background: Classical-like Ehlers Danlos Syndrome type 1 (clEDS1) is a very rare form of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) caused by tenascin-X (TNX) deficiency, with only 56 individuals reported. TNX is an extracellular matrix protein needed for collagen stability. Previous publications propose that individuals with clEDS1 might be at risk for gastrointestinal (GI) tract perforations and/or tracheal ruptures.

Invasive candidiasis, including intra-abdominal candidiasis (IAC), is a common complication after liver transplantation. Antifungal drugs such as echinocandins and fluconazole (FCZ) are frequently used to prevent or treat such fungal infections. The diffusion of these antifungals within abdominal body sites has been rarely reported, in particular, in liver transplant recipients.

Background: To reduce the number of deaths caused by exsanguination, the initial management of severe trauma aims to prevent, if not limit, the lethal triad, which consists of acidosis, coagulopathy, and hypothermia. Recently, several studies have suggested adding hypocalcemia to the lethal triad to form the lethal diamond, but the evidence supporting this change is limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the lethal triad and lethal diamond for their respective associations with 24-h mortality in severe trauma patients receiving transfusion.

Introduction: In the past, certain oncological therapies were not offered to frail older patients. However, the advancement of geriatric oncology, tailored chemotherapy regimens, the introduction of new treatments, and the optimization of supportive care have contributed to enhancing the therapeutic margin. We aimed to evaluate the benefit of systemic treatment among older adults by assessing the three-month survival of older frail patients with metastatic cancer.

Introduction: Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, such as semaglutide, have revolutionized the treatment of diabetes and obesity by promoting significant weight loss through incretin effects. However, rapid weight reduction induced by these medications often leads to esthetic challenges, including facial volume loss, skin laxity, and body contour irregularities. This commentary reviews the esthetic consequences of GLP-1-induced weight loss and explores solutions for managing these concerns in clinical practice.

Background And Objectives: Diagnosing ventriculostomy-related infection (VRI), a common complication after external ventricular drainage (EVD), is challenging and often associated with delayed initiation of antibiotic therapy. We aimed to develop a stewardship score to help in the decision of antibiotic therapy initiation when VRI is suspected.
Methods: This retrospective, single-center cohort study included patients admitted to the intensive care unit after EVD placement who were suspected of having healthcare-associated ventriculitis and/or meningitis between January 1, 2012, and August 31, 2022.

Introduction: Striae distensae (SD) appear clinically as parallel striae, lying perpendicular to the tension lines of the skin. SD evolve into two clinical phases, an initial inflammatory phase in which they are called "striae rubrae" (SR) and a chronic phase in which they are called striae albae (SA). This study investigates the synergistic effect of nanofat and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections on collagen production in fibroblasts derived from SA (SAF).

Introduction: Despite their exponential use, intra-articular (IA) injections of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) are not part of the recommended treatments for knee osteoarthritis (OA) by most international scientific societies. The most recent clinical trials have shown conflicting results, and some did not find any clinical benefit of PRP injections. The PRP In Knee OsteoArthritis (PIKOA) trial was designed to assess the clinical efficacy and structural benefit of IA injections of PRP vs saline solution (placebo) in symptomatic knee OA.
