Ferroptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma: Mechanisms and therapeutic implications.

Ferroptosis is a novel form of oxidative cell death, in which highly expressed unsaturated fatty acids on the cell membrane are catalyzed by divalent iron or ester oxygenase to promote liposome peroxidation. This process reduces cellular antioxidant capacity, increases lipid reactive oxygen species, and leads to the accumulation of intracellular ferrous ions, which disrupts intracellular redox homeostasis and ultimately causes oxidative cell death. Studies have shown that ferroptosis induces an immune response that has a dual role in liver disease, ferroptosis also offers a promising strategy for precise cancer therapy.

[Acupoint massage, acupoint sticking combined with moxibustion for postpartum urinary retention: a randomized controlled trial].

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint massage, acupoint sticking combined with moxibustion at Shuidao (ST 28) for postpartum urinary retention.

Methods: A total of 120 patients with postpartum urinary retention were randomly divided a triple-combination group, a double-combination group, and a massage group, with 40 patients in each group. All groups received standard postpartum care to stimulate urination.

Effects of electroacupuncture on repairing neurological damage following ischemic stroke based on miR-381-mediated SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling pathway.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on the miR-381, leucine-rich repeat C4 protein (LRRC4), and downstream stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1)/CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) signaling pathway in rat model of ischemic stroke, and to explore the mechanism by which EA improves neurological damage following ischemic stroke.

Methods: Among 50 SPF male SD rats, 10 rats were randomly selected into a sham surgery group, and the remaining rats were used to establish the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model. The 30 successfully modeled rats were randomly divided into a model group, an EA group, and an agonist group, with 10 rats in each group.

Synthesis and protective effect of pyrazole conjugated imidazo[1,2-]pyrazine derivatives against acute lung injury in sepsis rats attenuation of NF-κB, oxidative stress, and apoptosis.

The current work was conducted to elucidate the pharmacological effect of pyrazole-conjugated imidazo[1,2-]pyrazine derivatives against acute lung injury in rats in sepsis and their mechanism of action. Various pyrazole-conjugated imidazo[1,2-]-pyrazine derivatives have been synthesized in a straightforward synthetic route. They exhibited a diverse range of inhibitory activity against NF-ĸB with ranging from 1 to 94 µmol L-1.

Inappropriate treatment response to DMARDs: A pathway to difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis.

In recent years, difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis (D2T RA) has attracted significant attention from rheumatologists due to its poor treatment response and the persistent symptoms or signs experienced by patients. The therapeutic demands of patients with D2T RA are not properly met due to unclear pathogenic causes and a lack of high-quality data for current treatment options, creating considerable management difficulties with this patient population. This review describes the clinical challenges associated with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and explores contributing factors associated with inappropriate response to DMARDs that may lead to D2T RA and related immunological dysregulation.

[Research progress on the modulation mechanism of electroacupuncture for learning and memory impairment after ischemic stroke].

Electroacupuncture may play a role in treatment of learning and memory impairment after ischemic stroke by regulating phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) signaling pathway, cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-dependent protein kinase A (PKA)/cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) signaling pathway, nerve growth factor (NGF)/tyrosine kinase-A (TrkA) signaling pathway, Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathway, Notch signaling pathway, erythropoietin-producing hepatocyte (Eph)/ephrin signaling pathway. The interactions among these pathways should be further explored in treatment of learning and memory impairment after ischemic stroke.

[Effects of umbilical moxibustion on phobic behavior and monoamine neurotransmitters in stress-model rats].

Objective: To investigate the effects of umbilical moxibustion therapy on phobic behavior and the contents of norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in different brain regions of the stress-model rats and explore the potential mechanism of umbilical moxibustion on phobic behavior.

Methods: Among 50 Wistar male rats, 45 rates were selected and randomly divided into a control group, a model group and an umbilical moxibustion group, 15 rats in each one; and the rest 5 rats were used for preparing the model of electric shock. The bystander electroshock method was adopted to prepare phobic stress model in the model group and the umbilical moxibustion group.

[Treatment of finger spasm after stroke with wheat grain moxibustion at Shixuan (EX-UE 11) combined with rehabilitation training: a randomized controlled trial].

Objective: To compare the clinical effect of wheat grain moxibustion combined with rehabilitation training and simple rehabilitation training on finger spasm after stroke.

Methods: A total of 80 patients with finger spasm after stroke were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was given routine rehabilitation training, once a day, 30 min each time.

The processing method for Chinese traditional herbal medicine is "Pao Zhi" in Chinese. This study examined the efficacy of the Pao Zhi on the preparations of Gardeniae Fructus (GF) on a mitochondrial respiratory function in rats. To determine the efficacy of Pao Zhi, we investigated the effects of GF heat processing on mitochondrial respiratory function.

Clinical Application Value of Circulating Cell-free DNA in Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Due to late diagnosis, early intrahepatic metastasis and nonresponse to systemic treatments, surgical resection and/or biopsy specimens remain the gold standard for disease staging, grading and clinical decision-making. Since only a small amount of tissue was obtained in a needle biopsy, the conventional tissue biopsy is unable to represent tumor heterogeneity in HCC.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between acetylcholine receptor antibodies (AChR-Ab) concentration levels and individualized clinical symptoms in patients with AChR myasthenia gravis (AChR-MG) in China.

Methods: ELISA was used to determine the concentration of AChR-Ab in patients with MG. The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) Clinical Classification, Quantitative Myasthenia Gravis (QMG) score, and MG-specific activities of daily living (MG-ADL) scoring systems were used to evaluate the clinical status of patients.

In this study, the potential of specific Circular RNAs (circRNAs) as novel peripheral blood biomarkers for myasthenia gravis (MG) was explored. We analyzed circRNAs in the peripheral blood of three normal controls and three MG patients using RNA microarray.
