Purpose: To study the relationship between the expression of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and the osteogenic activity and oxygen level of alveolar bone.

Methods: The alveolar bones of 56 patients with chronic periodontitis who received dental treatment from March 2021 to March 2023 were collected as the experimental (periodontitis) group, and the healthy alveolar bones of 53 patients who received dental treatment during the same period were selected as the control group. The osteoblasts were cultured by tissue block culture, and modified Kaplow's alkaline phosphatase (ALP) staining was used to identify the cells.

The regulation of enzymes and development of polyamine analogs capable of controlling the dynamics of endogenous polyamines to achieve anti-tumor effects is one of the biggest challenges in polyamine research. However, the root of the problem remains unsolved. This study represents a significant milestone as it unveils, for the first time, the comprehensive catalytic map of acetylpolyamine oxidase that includes chemical transformation and product release kinetics, by utilizing multiscale simulations with over six million dynamical snapshots.

A paper-based ratiometric fluorescent sensing platform has been developed for glucose detection based on a dual-emission fluorescent probe consisting of carbon quantum dots (C QDs) and CdTe QDs. When the two kinds of QDs are mixed, the fluorescence of C QDs is reversibly quenched by CdTe QDs. However, in the presence of glucose, the fluorescence of CdTe QDs is quenched by HO catalyzed by glucose oxidase (GOx), which restores the fluorescence of C QDs.

In view of the longevity and innate immune escape of red blood cells, this study designed the red blood cell membrane-coated paclitaxel nanosuspension [RBC-(PTX)NS] and investigated its physicochemical properties and antitumor effect in vitro. Paclitaxel nanosuspension [(PTX)NS] was prepared by ultrasonic precipitation and then RBC-(PTX)NS by ultrasonic coating. The formulation of(PTX)NS was optimized with Box-Behnken method and indexes of particle diameter, zeta potential, and stability.

Here we introduce a composite material that consists of graphene oxide (GO) sheets crosslinked with -hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) and functionalized with gold nanoflowers (AuNFs). Furthermore, a screen printed electrode (SPE) modified with the introduced composite is electrochemically reduced to obtain an SPE/rGO-NHS-AuNFs electrode for sensitive and selective determination of chloramphenicol (CAP) antibiotic drug. The morphological structure of the as-prepared nanocomposite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

This study is to observe whether platycodin D has the guiding role in treatment of mouse lung cancer with doxorubicin and explore its guiding mechanism. In vitro, platycodin D and doxorubicin(alone or in combination) were added into Lewis lung cancer(LLC) cells to detect the cell proliferation and doxorubicin uptake. Cell morphological changes were analyzed by cell holographic analysis system; cell gap junctional intercellular communication(GJIC) was tested by fluorescent yellow tracer; lyso-tracker red was used to examine lysosomal function; LC-3 B(Light chain 3 beta)and P62(heat shock 90-like protein)staining were used to test auto-phagy and autophagic degradation respectively; and P-glycoprotein(P-gp) expression was examined by Western blot.

Lead-based halide perovskites have received great attention in light-emitting applications due to their excellent properties, including high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), tunable emission wavelength, and facile solution preparation. In spite of excellent characteristics, the presence of toxic element lead directly obstructs their further commercial development. Hence, exploiting lead-free halide perovskite materials with superior properties is urgent and necessary.

The growth behavior and electrical transport properties of ZnO films was found to be strongly dependent on the deionized water soaking treatment of 0.7 wt% (111) SrTiO:Nb substrates. Comparing the ZnO films on soaked SrTiO:Nb substrates with those on unsoaked ones, the out-of-plane orientation of ZnO films are both along the -axis, while there is an in-plane rotation of ZnO thin films.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a genetically complex, highly aggressive hematological malignancy. Prognosis is usually with grim. PDZ and LIM domain proteins (PDLIM) are involved in the regulation of a variety of biological processes, including cytoskeletal organization, cell differentiation, organ development, neural signaling or tumorigenesis.

Emerging evidence reveals that lncRNAs play important roles in various pathological processes, but precious little indicates their regulatory role in neuropathic pain. In this study, we performed unbiased whole transcriptome profiling in dorsal root ganglions (DRGs) from mice with sham operation and mice with chronic constriction injury (CCI). Gm5820 was one of the most downregulated RNA transcripts in CCI neuropathic pain model mice.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have recently attracted increasing attention for their involvement in a wide variety of human neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD). The purpose of the present study was to investigate the functional role and underlying mechanism of NEAT1 in PD. qRT-PCR was used to assess the expression of NEAT1 and miR-221, and the expression levels of Bcl-2 and Bax were detected by western blot.

Mitochondrial ribosomal protein S23 (MRPS23), encoded by a nuclear gene, is a participant in the translation of mitochondrial proteins. Recently, MRPS23 has been reported to be overexpressed in many types of cancers and have a close association with cancer progression. However, the specific roles of MRPS23 in osteosarcoma (OS) remain unknown.

Forkhead box O 6 (FOXO6), a FOX transcription factor, has been found to be involved in diabetes mellitus and related complications. However, the role of FOXO6 in diabetic nephropathy (DN) has not been fully understood. In the present study, we evaluated the functions of FOXO6 in high glucose (HG)-induced glomerular mesangial cells (MCs).
