Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is a known contributor to cardiac remodeling and contractile dysfunction. Although NADPH oxidase has been implicated in ER stress-induced organ damage, its specific role in myocardial complications resulting from ER stress remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the possible involvement of NADPH oxidase in ER stress-induced myocardial abnormalities and to evaluate the impact of Akt constitutive activation on these myocardial defects.

The aim of the study is to analyze ventricular-vascular properties with different ventricular-arterial coupling (VAC) ratio in the preeclamptic women. Seventy-seven pregnant women with preeclampsia and eighty-nine with normal pregnancy were performed echocardiography. VAC was defined as the ratio between aortic elastance (Ea) and left ventricular (LV) end-systolic elastance (Ees).

Objects: The aim of this study was to investigate the morphologic changes of a novel fully biodegradable implantable device after closing a perimembranous ventricular septal defect (Pm-VSD) and to evaluate the effect of the occluder on the myocardial function in patients during a 3-year follow-up period.
Methods: One-year, 2-year, and 3-year follow-ups were carried out after implantation with a total of 30 Pm-VSD patients who had successful closure by the fully biodegradable occluder. In total, 30 healthy children were enrolled as controls.

To explore the risk factors for progression to chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with cardiac valve replacement surgery-associated acute kidney injury (AKI). A retrospective, nested case-control study was conducted at Fuwai Central China Cardiovascular Hospital. The study subjects were patients who underwent cardiac valve replacement surgery from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020, with a baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)>60 ml·min·(1.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the potential association between the circadian rhythm of blood pressure and deceleration capacity (DC)/acceleration capacity (AC) in patients with essential hypertension.
Methods: This study included 318 patients with essential hypertension, whether or not they were being treated with anti-hypertensive drugs, who underwent 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). Patients were categorized into three groups based on the percentage of nocturnal systolic blood pressure (SBP) dipping: the dipper, non-dipper and reverse dipper groups.

Background: The higher prevalence of anemia in females and elderly may be attributed to its association with worsened outcomes in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. We aimed to evaluate the precise effects of age and gender on the association between anemia and 30-day outcomes.
Method: We identified 4350 STEMI patients and divided into anemia and non-anemia.

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is associated with coronary artery disease (CAD) severity. However, its underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Therefore, our study aimed to explore the relationship between IR and coronary inflammation and investigate the synergistic and mediating effects of coronary inflammation on the association between IR and CAD severity.

Background: Limited data are available on the changes in the quality of care for ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) during China's health system reform from 2009 to 2020. This study aimed to assess the changes in care processes and outcome for STEMI patients in Henan province of central China between 2011 and 2018.
Methods: We compared the data from the Henan STEMI survey conducted in 2011-2012 ( n = 1548, a cross-sectional study) and the Henan STEMI registry in 2016-2018 ( n = 4748, a multicenter, prospective observational study).

This study aimed to analyze the changes in myocardial work (MyW) properties and the correlation of MyW with cardiovascular and clinical indices during the pre-eclampsia (PE) pregnancy. Standard two-dimensional and speckle-tracking echocardiography were sequentially performed on 77 women with PE and 89 with normal pregnancy. Four components of MyW: global myocardial work index (GWI), constructive work (GCW), wasted work (GWW), and work efficiency (GWE) were measured.

Purpose: The formation of macrophage-derived foam cells via the uptake of modified lipoproteins is a pivotal development event in atherosclerosis. It has been reported that clinical and experimental myocardial infarction could accelerate atherosclerosis. Several studies have suggested the critical role of exosomes in cardiovascular diseases.

Background: Women hospitalized with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) experience higher risk of early mortality than men. We aimed to investigate the potential impact of risk factors, clinical characteristics, and management among gender-related risk differences.
Method: We analyzed 5063 STEMI patients prospectively enrolled from 66 hospitals during 2016-2018 and compared sex differences in mortality, death, or treatment withdrawal and main adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) using the generalized linear mixed model, following sequential adjustment for covariates.

Previous studies have shown that phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) are key regulators of the development of many malignant tumors and other diseases. However, its regulatory effect on coronary heart disease (CHD) has rarely been reported. Therefore, the regulatory effect of PTEN on the survival and cell death of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in CHD mice was elucidated in this study.
