Objectives: The aim was to explore the dose-response relationship between occupational polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) exposure and mitochondrial damage in coke oven plants workers.
Methods: 544 workers and 238 healthy people were recruited. The ultra-high performance liquid chromatography was used to determine the level of 1-hydroxypyrene, 1-hydroxynaphthalene, 2-hydroxynaphthalene and 3-hydroxyphenanthrene.

Exposure to nanoparticles may lead to pneumoconiosis and lung cancer; however, whether patients suffering from pneumoconiosis also face a high risk of lung cancer has been under debate for decades. Recently, exosomes have been found to play critical roles in many diseases intercellular cargo transportation, which has provided a new insight into the mechanistic investigation of nanoparticle-induced respiratory disorders. Herein, we isolated exosomes from the venous blood of patients with pneumoconiosis and healthy controls and then, we profiled the expression signatures of exosomal miRNAs using high-throughput sequencing technology.

Inhaling a dangerous amount of nanoparticles leads to pulmonary inflammatory and immune disorders, which integrates several kinds of cells. Exosomes are suggested to play a crucial role in intercellular communication via miRNA transmission. To investigate the role of exosomal miRNA in nanoparticle phagocytosis, a total of 54 pneumoconiosis patients along with 100 healthy controls are recruited, exosomes derived from their venous blood are collected, and then exosomal miRNAs are profiled with high-throughput sequencing technology.

To investigate the association between the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at rs1043618, rs2075800, and rs2763979 in human heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) gene and susceptibility to noiseinduced hearing loss (NIHL) . A case-control study was performed, and 5 934 workers exposed to noise in an iron and steel plant in Henan, China, who underwent physical examination from 2006 to 2015, were enrolled as study subjects. According to the criteria of binaural average high - frequency (3000, 4000, and 6000 Hz) hearing threshold≥40 dB (HL) and monauralaverage speechfrequency (500, 1000, 2000 Hz) hearing threshold≥26 dB (HL) on the basis of binauralhigh frequency loss measured by pure tone audiometry, as well as the exclusion of NIHL, a total of 286 workers were enrolled as hearing loss group; after the adjustment for sex, type of work, age (difference≤5 years) , and working years of noise exposure (difference ≤2 years) , 286 workers were enrolled as control group.

Diesel engine exhaust (DEE) was found to induce lipid peroxidation (LPO) in animal exposure studies. LPO is a class of oxidative stress and can be reflected by detecting the levels of its production, such as malondialdehyde (MDA) and 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE), and etheno-DNA adducts including 1,N(6)-etheno-2'-deoxyadenosine (ɛdA) and 3,N(4)-etheno-2'-deoxycytidine (ɛdC). Objective: To investigate the factors influencing the electrocardiogram results in the workers exposed to noise in steel-making and steel rolling workshops of an iron and steel plant.
Methods: From September to December, 2013, cluster sampling was used to select 3 150 workers exposed to noise in the steel-making and steel-rolling workshops of an iron and steel plant, and a questionnaire survey and physical examinations were performed. The number of valid workers was 2 915, consisting of 1 606 workers in the steel-rolling workshop and 1 309 in the steel-making workshop.

Objective: To evaluate the combined demand-control-support (DCS) and effort-reward-overcommitment (ERI-OC) stress models in association with sickness absence due to low back symptoms (SA-LBS).
Methods: A total of 2,737 blue-collar workers recruited from 13 companies in the most populous province (Henan) of China were included in the study. Personal and physical job characteristics, psychosocial scales of the stress models, and SA-LBS data in the preceding year were collected by a self-reported questionnaire and analyzed by a multivariable logistic regression model.
