Sirtuin-3 (SIRT3) has been described as a colorectal cancer oncogene and to be regulated by glycyrrhizic acid (GA). However, few studies have explored the interaction between GA and SIRT3. Therefore, in the present study, we showed that GA could significantly decrease SIRT3 protein levels in SW620 and HT29 cells in a dose-dependent manner.

Purpose: To evaluate the role of DSCC1 in LUAD.

Patients And Methods: Based on TCGA and GTEx, the Wilcoxon rank-sum test was used to compare the expression differences of DSCC1 between the normal samples of GTEx combined TCGA and the unpaired tumor samples of TCGA, and to compare DSCC1 expression values between tumor tissues and paired normal LUAD tissues in the TCGA cohort. Kruskal-Wallis rank-sum test, Wilcoxon rank-sum test, and logistics regression were used to compare the relationship between the expression of DSCC1 and the clinicopathological parameters.

Hirudin ameliorates diabetic nephropathy by inhibiting Gsdmd-mediated pyroptosis.

Cell Biol Toxicol

June 2023

Henan University of Chinese Medicine, No. 156 Jinshui Dong Road, Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou, 450046, Henan, China.

Our group previously reported that hirudin ameliorated diabetic nephropathy (DN) in streptozotocin (STZ)-injected rats, but the mechanism remained largely unknown. Therefore, we further explored its possible mechanism. We subcutaneously injected 5 U hirudin into STZ-induced WT mice or Gasdermin D (Gsdmd) (KO) mice daily for 12 weeks, respectively, and evaluated their kidney injury.

Background: Peritoneal fibrosis is one of the major complications induced by peritoneal dialysis (PD). Damaged integrity and function of peritoneum caused by peritoneal fibrosis not only limits the curative efficacy of PD and but affects the prognosis of patients. However, the detailed mechanisms underlying the process remain unclear and therapeutic strategy targeting TGF-β is deficient.

To study the molecular mechanism of Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction in the treatment of eczema by means of network pharmacology and molecular docking. First, the TCMSP database was used to excavate the active ingredient of each drug in Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction and predict its target, and the Uniprot database was used to standardize the names of target proteins, in order to obtain the disease targets of eczema through GeneCards, OMIM, PharmGkb, DrugBank and other databases. And next, the potential targets on which drug targets and disease targets work together were selected to make a Venn diagram, the Cytoscape 3.

Objective: To evaluate the effect and safety of the magnetic resonance electromagnetic therapy (MREM) combined with Qianlie Beixi Capsules (QBC) in the treatment of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).

Methods: Using a prospective, two-center, randomized, open, positive drug-loading, parallel-controlled clinical design, we randomly divided 124 patients with CP/CPPS into a control and an observation group of equal number, the former treated with QBC and the latter with QBC combined with MREM for a course of 14 days. Then, we compared the NIH-CPSI scores before and after treatment, the total effectiveness rate and safety between the two groups of patients.

Objective: To explore the application of psychological nursing in patients with genital herpes receiving acyclovir combined with thymosin and its effect on the incidence of adverse reactions.

Methods: A total of 160 patients with genital herpes treated with acyclovir plus thymosin in our hospital from January 2016 to December 2018 were randomly allocated to receive conventional nursing (the control group, n = 80) and psychological nursing (the trial group, n = 80). Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) were used to evaluate the anxiety and depression of the patients, and comparisons were made between the two groups of patients in their SAS and SDS scores, the incidence of adverse reactions and their satisfaction with nursing intervention.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Yishen Tongluo Recipe (YTR) combined with minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in the treatment of varicocele-associated asthenospermia (of the kidney-deficiency and collateral-obstruction type).

Methods: We randomly divided 116 patients with varicocele-associated asthenospermia and up to the inclusion criteria into three groups and treated them by YTR combined with MIS (low spermatic vein ligation at the external inguinal ring orifice under the microscope) (the YTR+MIS group, n = 39), YTR alone (the YTR group, n = 38), or MIS alone (the MIS group, n = 39). At 12 weeks after treatment, we compared the total effectiveness rate, the percentage of progressively motile sperm (PMS), sperm straight line velocity (VSL), sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) and symptoms among the three groups of patients.

Radiotherapy is an important adjuvant treatment for large intestine cancer even though it does not cause any response in many patients. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of the TTN antisense RNA 1 (TTN-AS1) long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) on radiotherapy dynamics of large intestine cancer cells and to explore the underlying molecular mechanisms. TTN-AS1 expression was evaluated by reverse-transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction, western blot, and cellular immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry analysis was used to measure apoptosis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of hirudin on renal microangiopathy in diabetes using a rat model and in vitro experiments.
  • Hirudin treatment showed significant improvements in kidney function and pathology, reducing serum creatinine levels and kidney/body weight ratio in diabetic rats.
  • In vitro, hirudin inhibited the migration and angiogenesis of glomerular endothelial cells stimulated by high glucose, counteracting the expression of various proteins linked to these processes.
  • Overall, the findings suggest that hirudin may have protective effects against diabetic nephropathy.
