ACS Omega

December 2024

Department of Physics and Beijing Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Functional Materials and Micro-Nano Devices, Renmin University of China, Beijing 100872, China.

Photosynthesis in nature begins with light harvesting. The special pigment-protein complex converts sunlight into electron excitation that is transmitted to the reaction center, which triggers charge separation. Evidence shows that quantum coherence between electron excited states is important in the excitation energy transfer process.

By developing an intertemporal decision-making model, this paper investigates the impact of the acquisition of overseas residency by a firm's beneficial owner on the firm's intertemporal decision-making. By incorporating a discount rate in the model, the paper finds that obtaining foreign residency alters the temporal distributional characteristics of the utility of the beneficial owner, weakening its preference for intertemporal investment behaviors such as R&D and donations. We then conduct an empirical analysis using the propensity score matching method for Chinese listed firms.

Sodium-Ion Storage in NaVMn(PO)/C Porous Nanorods Electrode.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

December 2024

School of Materials Science and Physics, China University of Mining & Technology, Xuzhou 221116, China.

NaVMn(PO) (NVMP) is a prospective cathode for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to its low cost and extraordinary structural stability. However, poor conductivity restricts the electrochemical performance of NVMP, which limits its development and application. Herein, carbon-encapsulated NVMP porous nanorods are prepared via a convenient electrospinning method.

The forming quality of profiled ring rolling not only encompasses macroscopic accuracy but also emphasizes the microstructure. Due to the multiple process parameters and complex metal flow during profiled ring rolling, the various forming defects are difficult to control and difficult to study theoretically. The objective of this study is to establish a comprehensive method for evaluating the forming quality of profiled rings, which considers both the macroscopic forming accuracy and the microstructure.

September 2024

College of Mathematics and Information Science, Henan Normal University, Xinxiang 453003, China.

DNA molecules, as a storage medium, possess unique advantages. Not only does DNA storage exhibit significantly higher storage density compared to electromagnetic storage media, but it also features low energy consumption and extremely long storage times. However, the integration of DNA storage into daily life remains distant due to challenges such as low storage density, high latency, and inevitable errors during the storage process.

Advances in Aptamer-Based Biosensors for the Detection of Foodborne Mycotoxins.

Molecules

August 2024

Chongqing Key Laboratory for New Chemical Materials of Shale Gas, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Yangtze Normal University, Fuling, Chongqing 408100, China.

Foodborne mycotoxins (FBMTs) are toxins produced by food itself or during processing and transportation that pose an enormous threat to public health security. However, traditional instrumental and chemical methods for detecting toxins have shortcomings, such as high operational difficulty, time consumption, and high cost, that limit their large-scale applications. In recent years, aptamer-based biosensors have become a new tool for food safety risk assessment and monitoring due to their high affinity, good specificity, and fast response.

Article Synopsis
  • The paper presents a new method for determining the relative rotation angle between two spacecraft or aircraft cabins during automated assembly using distributed vision technology.
  • It utilizes two sets of cameras to capture images from different angles of mating features like dowel pins and holes, which are then analyzed to calculate the relative rotation.
  • A practical registration process involving an auxiliary device is introduced to accurately align the cameras, achieving a measurement precision of 0.02° over a distance of 340 mm.

We systematically investigated the stable configurations and catalytic activity in the Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR) of graphene co-doped with boron and nitrogen (B-N) using first-principles methods. Compared to single B/N doping, co-doping with BN is energetically favored. We found that intermediate species of ORR process adsorb on boron atoms, which act as catalytic sites.

Internal discharge and overheating faults in sulfur hexafluoride (SF) gas-insulated electrical equipment will generate a series of characteristic gas products. Hydrogen fluoride (HF) is one of the main decomposition gases under discharge failure. Because of its extremely corrosive nature, it can react with other materials in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), resulting in a short existence time, so it needs to be detected online.

This paper proposes a model predictive control (MPC) scheme based on linear parameter variation to enhance the damping control of speed-dependent active suspensions. The controller is developed by introducing a speed-dependent term, specifically front- and rear-wheel time delays, to the half-car model using the Padé approximation. Subsequently, the model is augmented with time-varying parameter dependence.

To address the problem of poor entity recognition performance caused by the lack of Chinese annotation in clinical electronic medical records, this paper proposes a multi-medical entity recognition method F-MNER using a fusion technique combining BART, Bi-LSTM, and CRF. First, after cleaning, encoding, and segmenting the electronic medical records, the obtained semantic representations are dynamically fused using a bidirectional autoregressive transformer (BART) model. Then, sequential information is captured using a bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) network.

Silicon (Si) stands out as a highly promising anode material for next-generation lithium-ion batteries. However, its low intrinsic conductivity and the severe volume changes during the lithiation/delithiation process adversely affect cycling stability and hinder commercial viability. Rational design of electrode architecture to enhance charge transfer and optimize stress distribution of Si is a transformative way to enhance cycling stability, which still remains a great challenge.

Removal of sulfonamides from water by wetland plants: Performance, microbial response and mechanism.

Sci Total Environ

March 2024

Key Laboratory of Urban Environment and Health, Fujian Key Laboratory of Watershed Ecology, Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiamen 361021, China. Electronic address:

Sulfonamides are widely used in the clinical and animal husbandry industry because of their antibacterial properties and low cost. However, Sulfonamides cannot be fully absorbed by human bodies or animals, 50 %-90 % will be discharged from the bodies, and enter waters and soils through a variety of ways, causing environmental harm. Phytoremediation as a green in situ repair technology has been proven effective in sulfonamides removal, but the underlying mechanisms are still a question that needs to be further studied.
