Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of the top contributors to global disease mortality. AMI biomarkers, such as cardiac troponin I (cTnI), are often detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) that suffers from several well-known drawbacks such as poor stability and slow and cumbersome operation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new analytical technique that can rapidly analyse and detect cTnI for early screening of AMI.

Background: Superior physical fitness and performance are essential in male team sports. Among a myriad of training methodologies, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) has gained popularity owing to its unparalleled efficiency and effectiveness. Previous studies have established that HIIT is a proven and effective approach for enhancing various physiological performance outcomes, particularly oxygen consumption capacity, in individual sports.

Context: In this paper, the effects of torsional deformation on the electronic properties of intrinsic WSe system and Ca-adsorbed WSe system were systematically studied by first-principles method. The results show that Ca can be stably adsorbed on the vacancy (H site) of WSe surface in all deformation systems, and the adsorption energy of the system without deformation is the highest. Intrinsic WSe is a semiconductor with a direct band gap of 1.

Context: In this study, the electronic structure and diffusion barrier of the Ca-adsorbed WTe system under different torsion angles were calculated based on the first-principles method. The results show that the structure and properties of the pure WTe system and Ca-adsorbed WTe system are affected by torsional deformation. When the torsion angle is 6°, the intrinsic WTe changes from a direct band gap to an indirect band gap.

Context: In this study, the electronic structure and diffusion barrier of Ca adsorbed MoTe system under different degrees of shear deformation were calculated based on the first-principles method. The results show that both the pure MoTe system and Ca-adsorbed MoTe system are affected by shear deformation. The pure MoTe undergoes a transition from direct to indirect band gap under shear deformation.

Concentration ciguatoxins in fillet of fish: A global systematic review and meta-analysis.

Heliyon

August 2023

HUTECH Institute of Applied Sciences, HUTECH University, 475A, Dien Bien Phu, Ward 25, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Article Synopsis
  • The study conducted a meta-analysis on ciguatoxins (CTXs) concentrations in fish fillets from various countries and water sources, using data from scientific databases up to July 2022.
  • Ciguatoxin levels were found to be highest in Kiribati and lowest in Portugal, with all countries exceeding the safe limit of CTX1C (0.1 μg/kg), except Portugal met the limit for CTX1P.
  • The results suggest that ongoing monitoring of CTXs in fish is necessary due to their consistent presence above safety thresholds.

The battery management system (BMS) can intelligently manage and maintain each battery unit while monitoring its status, thereby preventing any possible overcharge or over-discharge of the battery. In BMS research, battery state parameter collection and analysis are essential. However, traditional data collection methods require personnel to be present at the scene, leading to offline data acquisition.

The transient stability of power systems plays the key role in their smooth operation, which is influenced by many working condition factors. To automatically evaluate transient stability status precisely for power systems remains a practical issue. To realize data-driven evaluation for the transient stability of the power systems, this paper proposes an ensemble machine learning-based assessment approach for transient stability status of power systems, which is named as EM-TSA for short.

Orange Pomace and Peel Extraction Processes towards Sustainable Utilization: A Short Review.

Molecules

April 2023

Department of Industrial Chemical Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya 60111, Indonesia.

More than 58 million metric tonnes of oranges were produced in 2021, and the peels, which account for around one-fifth of the fruit weight, are often discarded as waste in the orange juice industry. Orange pomace and peels as wastes are used as a sustainable raw material to make valuable products for nutraceuticals. The orange peels and pomace contain pectin, phenolics, and limonene, which have been linked to various health benefits.

Financial Data Analysis and Application Based on Big Data Mining Technology.

Comput Intell Neurosci

July 2022

School of Finance and Accounting, Henan Industry and Trade Vocational College, ZhengZhou 451191, China.

We provide a brief overview of the connotation and characteristics of data mining technology in the era of big data, analyze the feasibility of data mining technology in business management from the economic and technical perspectives, and propose specific application suggestions according to the content and requirements of business management. This paper describes in detail the principles and steps of using the weighted plain Bayesian algorithm and the decision tree algorithm to analyze students' performance; firstly, we need to obtain the plain Bayesian analysis model of college students' learning literacy in physical education and the C4.5 graduation literacy analysis model, and then use certain rules to combine the weighted plain Bayesian algorithm and the decision tree algorithm to obtain the WNB-C4.

Article Synopsis
  • Controlling pore size in porous organic polymers (POPs) is challenging due to disorder in their linking modes.
  • The researchers developed a molecular cage-based POP (TPP-pOMC) using organic molecular cages (OMCs) that have fixed cavities and high reactivity, enabling better structural design.
  • TPP-pOMC exhibited improved pore channels and significantly increased BET surface area and CO adsorption capacity compared to traditional POPs.
