Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how the pseudorabies virus (PRV) uses its US2 protein to undermine the host's antiviral immune response, specifically targeting the cGAS-STING signaling pathway.
  • It was found that US2 interacts with STING, leading to its degradation through a process called ubiquitination, thereby reducing STING's ability to trigger antiviral defenses.
  • The research suggests that targeting the US2 protein could be a viable strategy for developing more effective vaccines against PRV, especially in light of the limitations of existing vaccines against emerging PRV strains.

Alternative splicing is a ubiquitous regulatory mechanism in gene expression that allows a single gene to generate multiple messenger RNAs (mRNAs). Adipocyte development is regulated by many processes, and recent studies have found that splicing factors also play an important role in adipogenic development. In the present study, we further investigated the differences in selective shearing during different periods of adipocyte differentiation.

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) posses the potential for highly self-renewal, proliferation and multi-lineage differentiation. HSC transplantation has long been the primary method for treating hematologic disorders and autoimmune diseases, and the ability to rebuild the immune system after transplantation is a key indicator of success. To enhance the reconstruction ability of the immune system after transplantation, current research focuses on genetic engineering and the use of HSCs modified by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) gene editing technology as a source of transplant cells.

The high β-glucan content in barley disrupts the gluten network in dough. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques were used to clarify how β-glucan affected the quality of the gluten network structure with β-glucan contents of 0-2%. The results suggest that the physical hindrance of the β-glucan gel destroyed the formation of the gluten network structure.
