Purpose: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the most common and lethal subtype of pancreatic cancer, with a 5-year survival rate of < 3%. Early tumor dissemination, late diagnosis and insensitivity to conventional treatment are the major reasons for its high mortality rate. Members of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family are overexpressed in PDAC and play important roles in its malignant progression, suggesting that VEGF-targeted therapies may interrupt the proliferation and motility of PDAC cells.

Background: Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) has the potential to serve as a non-invasive prognostic biomarker in some types of neoplasia. The investigation of plasma concentration of cfDNA may reveal its use as a valuable biomarker for risk stratification of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The present prognostic value of plasma cfDNA has not been widely confirmed in DLBCL subjects.

Gastric cancer (GC) is the fifth most prevalent malignant tumor and the third most frequent cause of cancer mortality worldwide. rs199971565 is an insertion/deletion (INDEL) located in microRNA-302c (miR-302c) seed site, which may affect its function and biogenesis. There is no genetic association study investigating this INDEL with any disease till now.

Background: Adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) for patients with Stage II colorectal cancer (CRC) is an area of controversy in oncology. International guidelines recommend the use of ACT in patients with specific high-risk features. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of ACT in improving survival in patients with and without high-risk features.

Purpose: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the most common malignancy of the pancreas, is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related death in the USA. Local progression, early tumor dissemination and low efficacy of current treatments are the major reasons for its high mortality rate. The ERBB family is over-expressed in PDAC and plays essential roles in its tumorigenesis; however, single-targeted ERBB inhibitors have shown limited activity in this disease.

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a highly prevalent pediatric cancer accounting for approximately 78% of leukemia cases in patients younger than 15 years old. Different studies have demonstrated that B-cell translocation gene 3 () plays a suppressive role in the progress of different cancers. Genistein is considered a natural and biocompatible compound and a new anti-cancer agent.

Genetic variations can be considered as internal contributing factors in susceptibility of individuals to heavy metals related toxicities. However, the exact mechanism of such inherent factors in body response to toxic materials, as well as their potentials to be considered as actual susceptibility factors are remaining to be more explored. So far, variations in different genes, which are directly/indirectly involving in the metabolism of heavy metals have been investigated by some experiments.

Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a very prominent complaint and disabling symptom in cancer patients probably influenced by endogenous cytokines. But, the published data on this subject are limited. We explored the relationship of cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) with fatigue in patients with AML.

Background: Measuring quality of life (QOL) in a population is important for the predictions of health and social care needs. In Pakistan, health related quality of life data exist but there are no quality of life data of general population. In this study, quality of life was assessed among the Pakistani general population and their associated factors by using the World Health Organization's quality of life instrument (WHOQOL-BREF).

Selenium is an essential mineral that plays a key role in plenty of major metabolic processes. A growing body of literature has shown that selenium deficiency leads to an increase in plasma TC and TG levels. This study explores the effect of selenium supplementation on serum level of lipid profile [total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL)].

Objectives: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been used for several decades to treat patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Total body irradiation has been promoted as an important component of conditioning regimens for this process; however, recent reports of chemotherapy-based conditioning regimens have shown comparable outcomes.
Materials And Methods: We report our experience with radiation-free conditioning using busulfan and cyclophosphamide in 127 pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who were treated between 1997 and 2014.

Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the most lethal gynecological malignancy worldwide. Development of chemoresistance and peritoneal dissemination are the major reasons for low survival rate in the patients. The bromodomain and extraterminal domain (BET) proteins are known as epigenetic 'readers,' and their inhibitors are novel epigenetic strategies for cancer treatment.

Introduction:: Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy worldwide and despite an initial response to therapeutic agents, the majority of patients have chemoresistant disease. There is no treatment strategy with proven efficacy against chemoresistant EOC and in this setting, overcoming therapy resistance is the key to successful treatment.
Methods:: This study aimed to investigate expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) (IL-6) and IL-6 receptor (IL-6R) in a panel of the EOC cell lines.

Importance: The increasing burden due to cancer and other noncommunicable diseases poses a threat to human development, which has resulted in global political commitments reflected in the Sustainable Development Goals as well as the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Action Plan on Non-Communicable Diseases. To determine if these commitments have resulted in improved cancer control, quantitative assessments of the cancer burden are required.
Objective: To assess the burden for 29 cancer groups over time to provide a framework for policy discussion, resource allocation, and research focus.
