Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles of endocytic origin released by various cell types. They consist of lipid bilayers containing macromolecules such as lipids, proteins, microRNAs, growth factors, cytokines, and carbohydrates. Exosomes play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases.

Background: Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), accounting for 15-20% of adult leukemia cases, is marked by the Philadelphia chromosome, resulting from the t(9;22)(q34;q11) translocation. This leads to uncontrolled cell proliferation and survival. Imatinib therapy lowers BCR-ABL levels, influencing telomere-associated proteins and increasing telomerase accessibility, indirectly boosting its activity.

Anti-P1 is immunoglobulin M type and occurs naturally; it is often detected as a weak- and cold-reactive antibody. However, in rare cases, it is reactive at 37°C or shows hemolytic transfusion reactions. The presence of high thermal amplitude of anti-P1 cannot be ignored and requires cross-match compatible red blood cells for transfusion.

Background: The treatment of choice for Extra-osseous Ewing's sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor (ES/PNET), a rare neoplasm, is the VAC/IE regimen. This regimen includes Doxorubicin, Vincristine, Cyclophosphamide, Ifosfamide, and Etoposide, all of which have cardiotoxic effects. Myocarditis, a potentially threatening side effect following cancer therapy, can be accurately managed and diagnosed.

Unlike MCF-7 cells, MDA-MB-231 cells are unresponsive to hormone therapy and often show resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Here, the antiproliferative effect of biocompatible montmorillonite (Mt) nanosheets on MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast cancer cells was evaluated by MTT assay, flow cytometry, and qRT-PCR. The results showed that the Mt IC for MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells in a fetal bovine serum (FBS)-free medium was ~50 and ~200 µg/mL, and in 10% FBS medium ~400 and ~2000 µg/mL, respectively.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) manifests as chronic inflammation within the gastrointestinal tract. The study focuses on a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) known as Metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1). MALAT1's misregulation has been linked with various autoimmune diseases and regulates proinflammatory cytokines.

Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Recent research has highlighted the crucial role of the guanylate cyclase-C (GC-C) signaling axis in CRC, from the early stages of tumorigenesis to disease progression. GC-C is activated by endogenous peptides guanylin (GU) and uroguanylin (UG), which are critical in maintaining intestinal fluid homeostasis.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by persistent respiratory symptoms and airflow limitation due to airway and/or alveolar remodeling. Although the abnormalities are primarily prompted by chronic exposure to inhaled irritants, maladjusted and self-reinforcing immune responses are significant contributors to the development and progression of the disease. The p38 isoforms are regarded as pivotal hub proteins that regulate immune and inflammatory responses in both healthy and disease states.

Introduction: Gastric cancer is one of the most commonly known malignancies and is the fifth cancer-related death globally. Whereas natural killer (NK) cells play a critical role in tumor elimination; therefore, adoptive NK cell therapy has become a promising approach in cancer cytotherapy. Hence, this study investigated the chemo-immune cell therapy in MKN-45 derived xenograft gastric cancer model.

Background: The largest group of patients with breast cancer are estrogen receptor-positive (ER) type. The estrogen receptor acts as a transcription factor and triggers cell proliferation and differentiation. Hence, investigating ER-DNA interaction genomic regions can help identify genes directly regulated by ER and understand the mechanism of ER action in cancer progression.

Background: Placenta-specific 1 (PLAC1) is one of the cancer-testis-placenta antigens that has no expression in normal tissue except placenta trophoblast and testicular germ cells, but is overexpressed in a variety of solid tumors. There is a lack of studies on the expression of PLAC1 in leukemia. We investigated expression of in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

Background: Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is an aggressive subtype of thyroid cancer, accounting for 1 to 2% of all cases. Deregulations of cell cycle regulatory genes including cyclins, cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), and endogenous inhibitors of CDKs (CKIs) are hallmarks of cancer cells and hence, studies indicate the inhibition of CDK4/6 kinases and cell cycle progression as potent therapeutic strategies. In this study, we investigated the anti-tumor activity of Abemaciclib, a CDK4 and CDK6 inhibitor, in ATC cell lines.

A declining need for red blood cells coupled with strengthening demand for plasma-derived medicines has led to a strong focus on moving whole blood donors to plasmapheresis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the four-year policies of the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization (IBTO) in terms of plasmapheresis recruitment of first-time donors and its effect on plasmapheresis outcome. Plasmapheresis data related to 16 centers from 2016 to 2019 was obtained from IBTO software.

Breast cancer is a complex disease exhibiting a great degree of heterogeneity due to different molecular subtypes. Notch signaling regulates the differentiation of breast epithelial cells during normal development and plays a crucial role in breast cancer progression through the abnormal expression of the Notch up-and down-stream effectors. To date, there are only a few patient-centered clinical studies using datasets characterizing the role of Notch signaling pathway regulators in breast cancer; thus, we investigate the role and functionality of these factors in different subtypes using publicly available databases containing records from large studies.

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the detection of nucleic acids is the gold standard test for the diagnosis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). However, there is the probability of false-negative results with this test, which poses a threat to public health. Here, we highlight some important factors that should be considered for reducing the false-negative results of the SARS-CoV-2 PCR test.

Objectives: HLA alloimmunization is one of the most troublesome consequence of regular transfusion which is itself a mainstay measure to provide longevity to the thalassemia patients. Febrile non-hemolytic transfusion reaction (FNHTR) is one of the most common complication which might be related to the HLA alloimmunization. Here, we studied the HLA antigenic system and alloimmunization rate in the Iranian β-thalassemia patients who suffered from FNHTR compare to the β-thalassemia patients without FNHTR.

Background: Some viruses such as SARS, SARS-CoV-2, and MERS cause an imbalance in immune responses and leads to an acute inflammatory reaction named cytokine storm. In this situation, an anti-inflammatory component can modulate the immune system and decrease mortality. The aim of this study was investigate the potential of leukoreduction filters (LRFs) in creating an anti-inflammatory compound.
