Background/purpose: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with ACURATE neo2 showed better hemodynamic outcomes by mitigating paravalvular leakage (PVL) compared with ACURATE neo, and revealed promising one-year outcomes in single-arm studies. However, studies comparing the hemodynamic and clinical outcomes of the two valves are still scarce. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the one-year hemodynamic and clinical outcomes between the neo2 and neo.

Inferior outcomes with ACURATE neo, a self-expanding transcatheter heart valve (THV) for the treatment of severe aortic stenosis, were mainly driven by higher rates of moderate/severe paravalvular leak (PVL). To overcome this limitation, the next-generation ACURATE neo2 features a 60% larger external sealing skirt. Data on long-term performance are limited; however, clinical evidence suggests improved short-term performance which is comparable to contemporary THVs.

Preexisting right bundle branch block (RBBB) is the strongest predictor for permanent pacemaker implantation (PPI) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). However, the risk assessment for new PPI and effective procedural strategy for preventing new PPI in patients with preexisting RBBB are still unclear. This study stratified the new PPI risk after TAVI and investigated the impact of implantation strategy in a preexisting RBBB cohort.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an established treatment for severe aortic stenosis (AS), but despite estimates of life expectancy after TAVI being essential in heart team discussion, these data are scarce. Therefore, the current study sought to assess long-term survival and its trends in relation to chronological age, surgical risk, and treatment period.
Methods and results: We included 2,414 consecutive patients who underwent TAVI for severe symptomatic AS between 2008 and 2021 at 2 international centers.

Membranous septum (MS) length, in conjunction with implantation depth (ID), is known as a determinant of conduction disturbance (CD) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). However, its impact might be dissimilar among valve types because each valve has a different platform. This study sought to investigate the different impacts of ID and MS length on the new-onset CD between ACURATE neo and SAPIEN 3.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has become the dominant treatment strategy for severe aortic stenosis in patients with high and intermediate surgical risk. Although complications are significant cause of increasing mortality after TAVR and bailout techniques have been well established, we still encounter a rare complication without widely accepted bailout option. We present a rare complication of valvuloplasty balloon entrapment to a self-expanding valve strut with successful bailout.

Unlabelled: Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are inherited metabolic diseases characterized by the deficiency of lysosomal enzymes and the accumulation of glycosaminoglycans in various organs, including the heart. In particular, aortic valve disease causes high morbidity and mortality rates, and sometimes requires surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) at a young age. Although transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for severe aortic stenosis (AS) in surgical high-risk patients is a well-established treatment, there are few reports of TAVR in MPS and medium- and long-term outcomes are not known.

Despite the development of device technology and operators' experience, access site vascular complications (VCs) remain one of the major concerns after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). MANTA (Teleflex, Wayne, Pennsylvania) is a large-bore vascular closure device (VCD) with promising incidence of VC. Previously, we demonstrated that the ultrasound-guided MANTA (US-MANTA) technique further improved the outcomes compared with conventional MANTA (C-MANTA) without ultrasound guidance.

Introduction: Implantation depth and membranous septum (MS) length have been established as the predictors of new-onset conduction disturbance (CD) after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for tricuspid aortic valve (TAV) stenosis. However, little is known about the predictors with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). This study investigated the role of MS length and implantation depth in predicting CD following TAVR with a balloon-expandable valve in patients with BAV.

Background: There has been a lack of research about the time trends and socio-demographic risk factors for children and adolescents who receive treatment for anxiety disorders. This study aimed to fill these gaps in our knowledge by examining a nationwide sample of Finnish children and adolescents diagnosed in specialized healthcare settings.
Methods: This study comprised national register data of all singleton children born in Finland from 1992-2006 who were diagnosed with anxiety disorders from 1998-2012.

Purpose: There is no report on the reproducibility of the ultrasound-navigated MANTA deployment (US-MANTA) technique and little is known about predictors for US-MANTA-related vascular complication (VC). This study aimed to assess the incidence and predictors of access-site VC using the US-MANTA technique and report insights of MANTA-related VC from consecutive cases following large-bore arteriotomy.
Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement with the US-MANTA technique from November 2018 to February 2020 were evaluated.

Background: Complete revascularization in ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with multivessel disease has resulted in reduction in composite clinical endpoints in medium sized trials. Only one trial showed an effect on hard clinical endpoints, but the revascularization procedure was guided by angiographic evaluation of stenosis severity. Consequently, it is not clear how Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) affects hard clinical endpoints in STEMI.

Although metallic stents improved the safety and efficacy of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), even the latest generation of drug-eluting stents (DES) is still limited by several factors. The limitations of DES are mainly related to the permanent metallic caging in vessel, chronic inflammatory response to the polymer and adverse effects of antiproliferative drug on endothelial tissue, leading to impaired physiological vasomotor response and late stent-related adverse events such as stent thrombosis and neoatherosclerosis. Bioresorbable vascular scaffold (Absorb BVS; Abbott Vascular) was designed to overcome these drawbacks of DES by disappearing from the vessel wall.

Study Question: What are the attitudes and expectations of past oocyte donors concerning contact with their donor offspring and contact between donor offspring and their own children?
Summary Answer: The large majority (95%) of open-identity oocyte donors, as well as voluntarily registered donors (registered before the Finnish 2007 ART law), expressed positive or neutral feelings towards contact with their donor offspring and mainly positive expectations towards contact between donor offspring and their own children.
What Is Known Already: Although there is a growing support for openness and identity-release programmes in gamete donation, there is not much knowledge on how donors feel about potential contact with their offspring. Most previous studies have investigated donor expectations with a relatively short follow-up time, using small samples or participants in voluntary donor linkage services.

Background: A persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a prerequisite for a HPV related cancer to develop. Asymptomatic, persistent HPV infections are not only found in genital tract, but also on oral mucosa. Oral HPV persistence may be associated with behavioural factors, but data on the role of innate immunity in oral HPV infections are still limited.
