This article examines the current state of digitalization in German dermatopathology laboratories based on the authors' own experiences, the current study situation, and a survey of members of the Dermatological Histology Working Group (ADH). Experiences with the establishment of a digital laboratory workflow, artificial intelligence (AI)-based assistance systems, and whole slide images (WSI)-based training programs are discussed.

Intelligent decisions in response to external informative input can allow organisms to achieve their biological goals while spending very little of their own resources. In this paper, we develop and study a minimal model for a navigational task, performed by an otherwise completely motorless particle that possesses the ability of hitchhiking in a bath of active Brownian particles (ABPs). Hitchhiking refers to identifying and attaching to suitable surrounding bath particles.

The definition of these irregularities requires an ordered reference configuration, calling into question whether they exist in disordered materials, such as glasses. Methods: In March/April 2023, about 5,000 GPs in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), who work in a region with a care level of < 100 %, and about 1,000 GPs from Saxony-Anhalt were asked to take part in an online-based survey.

Dynamics of a single anisotropic particle under various resetting protocols.

We study analytically the dynamics of an anisotropic particle subjected to different stochastic resetting schemes in two dimensions. The Brownian motion of shape-asymmetric particles in two dimensions results in anisotropic diffusion at short times, while the late-time transport is isotropic due to rotational diffusion. We show that the presence of orientational resetting promotes the anisotropy to late times.

Background: The randomized, phase 2 RENEW trial (NCT01721161) evaluated efficacy/safety of opicinumab (anti-LINGO-1) versus placebo in patients with first-episode unilateral acute optic neuritis (AON). Although no significant differences in the latency recovery of visual evoked potential (VEP) were observed between opicinumab and placebo groups in the intention to treat (ITT) population, the prespecified per-protocol (PP) population showed better recovery with opicinumab than with placebo. RENEWED (NCT02657915) was a one-visit, follow-up study 2 years after the last RENEW study visit (Week 32) designed to assess the long-term electrophysiological and clinical outcomes for participants previously enrolled and having received study treatment in RENEW.

Two new thiadiazole imidazolium salicylidene Schiff bases (TISSBs) were successfully synthesized, and their structures were analyzed comprehensively using spectroscopic techniques. The results of the MTT assay showed that TISSB2 was the safest and most effective anti-breast cancer agent. The anti-angiogenic activity of TISSB2 was evaluated using tests in Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC)-bearing Swiss albino mice.

Background: Quantification of Amyloid beta (Aβ) oligomers in plasma enables early diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and improves our understanding of underlying pathologies. However, quantification necessitates an extremely sensitive and selective technology because of very low Aβ oligomer concentrations and possible interference from matrix components.

We are used to measuring temperature with a thermometer, and we know from everyday life that different types of thermometers measure the same temperature. This experience can be based on equilibrium thermodynamics, which explains the equivalence of different possibilities to define temperature. In contrast, for systems out of equilibrium such as active matter, measurements performed with different thermometers can generally lead to different temperature values.

Aggregation of β-amyloid protein is a hallmark pathology of the neurodegenerative disorder Alzheimer's disease and proceeds from monomers to insoluble misfolded fibril forms via soluble and highly toxic oligomeric intermediates. Given the dual feature of being the most toxic form of the Aβ aggregate proteome and an early marker of pathogenesis, there is a need for sensitive methods that can be used to detect Aβ oligomers and investigate the dynamics of aggregation. Herein, we describe a method based on the application of an oligomer-sensitive fluorescent chemical probe pTP-TFE combined with the use of a QIAD (Quantitative determination of Interference with Aβ Aggregate Size Distribution) assay to correctly identify Aβ oligomers in high sensitivity.

The intracellular colonization of plant roots by the beneficial fungal endophyte Serendipita indica follows a biphasic strategy, including a host cell death phase that enables successful colonization of Arabidopsis thaliana roots. The controllable encapsulation of host molecules (such as porphyrin, phthalocyanine, crown ether, calixarene or cucurbituril organic macrocycles, cages, metal-organic polyhedrons and enzymes) into the pores of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to form host-in-host (host@MOF) materials has attracted increasing research interest in various fields. These host@MOF materials combine the merits of MOFs as a host matrix and functional host molecules to exhibit synergistic functionalities for the formation of guest@host@MOF materials in sorption and separation, ion capture, catalysis, proton/ion conduction and biosensors.
