Clinical studies show that SARS-CoV-2 vaccination sometimes entails a severe and disabling chronic syndrome termed post-acute-COVID-19-vaccination syndrome (PACVS). PACVS shares similarities with long COVID. Today, PACVS is still not officially recognised as a disease.

(3-(pyrimidin-4-yl)-7-azaindoles) are synthetic hybrids of the naturally occurring alkaloids and and display a strong cytotoxic potential. We have recently shown that the novel derivative is highly cytotoxic in several lymphoma and leukemia cell lines as well as in primary patient-derived lymphoma and leukemia cells and predominantly targets cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs). Here, we efficiently synthesized nine novel 2-aminopyridyl congeners (-), i.

The present study investigates the influence of nitrosamines and etoposide on mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) in a differentiation state- and biological age-dependent manner. The genotoxic effects of the agents on both neonatal and adult stem cell populations after treatment, before, or during the course of differentiation, and the sensitivity of the different MSC types to different concentrations of MNU or etoposide were assessed. Hereby, the multipotent differentiation capacity of MSCs into osteoblasts, adipocytes, and chondrocytes was analyzed.

: X-linked dystrophinopathies are a group of neuromuscular diseases caused by pathogenic variants in the gene (MIM *300377). Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD; MIM #310200) is the most common inherited muscular dystrophy. : We screened datasets of 403 male, genetically confirmed X-linked dystrophinopathy patients and identified 13 pathogenic variants of the gene that have not been described in the literature thus far.

DNA replication represents a series of precisely regulated events performed by a complex protein machinery that guarantees accurate duplication of the genetic information. Since DNA replication is permanently faced by a variety of exogenous and endogenous stressors, DNA damage response, repair and replication must be closely coordinated to maintain genomic integrity. HROB has been identified recently as a binding partner and activator of the Mcm8/9 helicase involved in DNA interstrand crosslink (ICL) repair.

Objective: Treatment approaches for endometrial cancer became more personalized in the last decade, mainly due to two key advancements - sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping and molecular classification. However, their prognostic interaction remains relatively unexplored.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients with endometrial cancer, who underwent surgical treatment including SLN mapping at the Bern University Hospital, Switzerland.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility of [Ga]Ga-DOTA-Siglec-9 positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) in assessing disease activity in a patient experiencing a relapse of giant cell arteritis (GCA).
Case Presentation: A 90-year-old male patient with GCA, diagnosed in 2018, was enrolled. Demographic data, disease history, and laboratory parameters, including soluble VAP-1 (sVAP-1) levels, were recorded.

Background: Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocellular adenocarcinoma (CCA) are the most common primary liver tumors representing a major global health burden. In early disease stages, tumor resection may provide long-term survival in selected patients. However, morbidity and mortality rates are still relatively high after extended liver surgery with perioperative bacterial infections representing major complications.

This study assessed trends in age-standardized incidence (ASIR), prevalence (ASPR), and mortality rates (ASMR) per 100,000 population for asthma, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Psoriasis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in China from 1990 to 2021 and projected ASIR trends through 2046. Data were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 study. Trends in ASIR, ASPR, and ASMR were analyzed using Joinpoint regression to calculate annual percentage change (APC) and average APC (AAPC).

To assess the efficacy, safety, and stability of refractive outcomes in hyperopic Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) with and without the application of Mitomycin C (MMC). This randomized, parallel group, controlled multicenter trial included 140 hyperopic eyes. The participants were randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving LASIK with mitomycin C (MMC) (n = 70) and the other receiving LASIK without MMC (n = 70).

Female reproduction comes at great expense to energy metabolism compensated by extensive organ adaptations including intestinal size. Upon mating, endocrine signals orchestrate a 30% net increase of absorptive epithelium. Mating increases production of the steroid hormone Ecdysone released by the Drosophila ovaries that stimulates intestinal stem cell (ISC) divisions.

Background: Due to malnutrition and tumor cachexia, body composition (BC) is frequently altered and known to adversely affect short- and long-term results in patients with cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Here, we explored immune cell populations in the tumor and liver of CCA patients with respect to BC.
Methods: A cohort of 96 patients who underwent surgery for CCA was investigated by multiplexed immunofluorescence (MIF) techniques with computer-based analysis on whole-tissue slide scans to quantify and characterize immune cells in normal liver and tumor regions.

Emotions are associated with subjective emotion-specific bodily sensations. Here, we utilized this relationship and computational linguistic methods to map a representation of emotions in ancient texts. We analyzed Neo-Assyrian texts from 934-612 BCE to discern consistent relationships between linguistic expressions related to both emotions and bodily sensations.

Background: In Europe, ofatumumab is approved for breastfeeding, but data on its transfer into breast milk and clinical experience are lacking.
Objective: To analyze (1) health, development, and adverse events after live vaccination of ofatumumab-exposed breastfed infants and (2) detectability of ofatumumab in breast milk, and to calculate the relative infant dose (RID) using two methods, the traditional method and a second method considering maternal exposure to multiple ofatumumab doses and extended collection period.
Methods: In this observational study, clinical data were collected by standardized telephone interviews up to 2 years postpartum.

The ESCRT machinery mediates membrane remodeling in numerous processes in cells including cell division and nuclear membrane reformation. The identification of ESCRT homologs in Asgard archaea, currently considered the closest prokaryotic relative of eukaryotes, implies a role for ESCRTs in the membrane remodeling processes that occurred during eukaryogenesis. Yet, the function of these distant ESCRT homologs is mostly unresolved.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe clinical complications and healthcare resource utilization (HCRU) among patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) with recurrent vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) and patients with transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia (TDT) in Germany.
Methods: The Betriebskrankenkasse (BKKs) Database was used to identify patients with SCD or TDT. To be eligible for inclusion, patients with SCD were required to have ≥ 2 VOCs/year in any two consecutive years and ≥ 12 months of available data before and after the index date (second VOC in the second consecutive year).

Maternal capabilities to engage in sensitive caregiving are important for infant development and mother-infant-interaction, however, can be negatively affected by cortisol due to a stress response. Previous research suggested that cortisol possibly impairs cognitive functions important for caregiving behavior, which potentially leads to less maternal sensitivity. However, studies investigating the influence of cortisol using endocrine parameters on the mother-infant-interaction during the early postpartum are lacking.
