The lateral entorhinal cortex (LEC) contains glutamatergic projections that innervate the nucleus accumbens (NAc) and may be involved in the encoding of contextual associations with both positive and negative valences, such as those encountered in drug cues or fear conditioning. To determine whether LEC-NAc neurons are activated by the encoding and recall of contexts associated with cocaine or footshock, we measured c-fos expression in these neurons and found that LEC-NAc neurons are activated in both contexts. Specifically, activation patterns of the LEC-NAc were observed in a novel context and reexposure to the same context, highlighting the specific role for LEC-NAc neurons in encoding rather than the valence of a specific event-related memory.

The evolution of plant genomes is riddled with exchanges of genetic material within one plant (endosymbiotic gene transfer/EGT) and between unrelated plants (horizontal gene transfer/HGT). These exchanges have left their marks on plant genomes. Epidermis is one of the most rapidly proliferating tissues in the body with high demands for adenosine triphosphate and cellular building blocks. In this study, we show that to meet these requirements, keratinocytes constitutively express HIF-1α, even in the presence of oxygen levels sufficient for HIF-1α hydroxylation. We previously reported that mice with severe epidermal mitochondrial dysfunction actually showed a hyperproliferative epidermis but rapidly died of systemic lactic acidosis and hypoglycemia, indicating excessive glycolysis.

Previous research suggests that even when people are capable of judging to the best of their knowledge whether claims are accurate or inaccurate, they do not sufficiently discriminate between accurate and inaccurate information when asked to consider whether they would share stories on social media. However, question framing ("To the best of your knowledge…", "Would you consider…?") differed between the questions about accuracy and the questions about sharing. Here we examine the effects of question framing on responses to accuracy questions and responses to sharing questions.

This study, thus, aims to investigate interrelations between working conditions and work-specific SE among employees before receiving PT-W.

Meningiomas are the most common primary intracranial tumors of adults. For meningiomas that progress or recur despite surgical resection and radiotherapy, additional treatment options are limited due to lack of proven efficacy. Gliomas are the most common parenchymal tumors of the central nervous system (CNS). With regard to their still unclear etiology, several recent studies have provided evidence of a new category of pathogenic elements called human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) which seem to contribute to the evolution and progression of many neurological diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), schizophrenia, chronic inflammatory polyneuropathy (CIDP) and, particularly, multiple sclerosis (MS). In these diseases, HERVs exert effects on cellular processes such as inflammation, proliferation, and migration.
