Alzheimer's disease (AD) stands as one of the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders, characterized by a progressive decline in cognitive function, neuroinflammation, amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques, and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). With the global aging population, the incidence of AD continues to rise, yet current therapeutic strategies remain limited in their ability to significantly alleviate cognitive impairments. Therefore, a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying AD is imperative for the development of more effective treatments.

Background: The increasing prevalence of myopia among Chinese children and adolescents, especially at younger ages, has emerged as a significant concern in recent years. Pre-myopia is a key period for myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents. Previous studies suggested auricular acupressure (AA) therapy might offer a viable approach to prevent and slow down myopia progression.

Bowen's disease (BD) is an intraepithelial squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) that commonly affects older individuals, with the vulva being a prevalent site in women. Lesions within the vagina pose a particular challenge for surgical treatment, often compromising both functional integrity and cosmesis. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an emerging, safe, and non-invasive technique utilizing a photosensitizer and a specific light source, widely applied in the treatment of malignancies and skin diseases.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), the predominant form of dementia, is a neurodegenerative disorder of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by a subtle onset and a spectrum of cognitive and functional declines. The clinical manifestation of AD encompasses memory deficits, cognitive deterioration, and behavioral disturbances, culminating in a severe impairment of daily living skills. Despite its high prevalence, accounting for 60-70% of all dementia cases, there remains an absence of curative therapeutics.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by developmental impairments, inattention, motor hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Currently, there is no effective intervention that can completely cure it. One of the pathogenic mechanisms of ADHD involves abnormalities in the norepinephrine (NE) pathway within the prefrontal cortex (PFC).

Background: Esophageal perforation is a rare but life-threatening condition associated with a high mortality rate and often presents with nonspecific clinical manifestations that can lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment. When combined with ST-segment elevation on electrocardiography (ECG), it can be particularly challenging to distinguish esophageal perforation from acute inferior myocardial infarction, as the two conditions may share similar ECG findings.
Case Description: We report the case of a 65-year-old man with a significant history of long-term alcohol consumption who presented to our hospital (the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) with persistent oppressive pain in the anterior and posterior left chest.

Background: Arthritis is a degenerative joint disease influenced by various environmental factors, including exposure to Benzophenone-3 (BP3), a common UV filter. This study aims to elucidate the toxicological impact of BP3 on arthritis pathogenesis using network toxicology approaches.
Method: We integrated data from the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) to identify differentially expressed BP3-related toxicological targets in osteoarthritis (OA).

Accurate prediction of binding between human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I molecules and antigenic peptide segments is a challenging task and a key bottleneck in personalized immunotherapy for cancer. Although existing prediction tools have demonstrated significant results using established datasets, most can only predict the binding affinity of antigenic peptides to HLA and do not enable the immunogenic interpretation of new antigenic epitopes. This limitation results from the training data for the computational models relying heavily on a large amount of peptide-HLA (pHLA) eluting ligand data, in which most of the candidate epitopes lack immunogenicity.

The occurrence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome is related to not only the overall obesity, but also the local distribution of fat. Therefore, we introduced anthropometric indicators to comprehensively assess the risks associated with obesity, including body mass index (BMI), which is used to assess the overall obesity, together with waist circumference (WC), body roundness index (BRI), visceral adiposity index (VAI) and lipid accumulation product (LAP), all of which reflect fat distribution. This cross-sectional study analyzed data from the 2005-2008 and 2015-2018 NHANES cycles, comprising 8966 participants.

Background: The ratio of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (NHHR) index is a relatively new composite lipid index, the relationship between NHHR and depression is unclear from the current study. The primary aim of our study was to examine the association between the prevalence of depression and NHHR in a US population.
Methods: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) provided the data for our investigation from 2005 to 2018.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the gradual loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc), abnormal accumulation of α-synuclein (α-syn), and activation of microglia leading to neuroinflammation. Disturbances in circadian rhythm play a significant role in PD, with most non-motor symptoms associated with disruptions in circadian rhythm. These disturbances can be observed years before motor symptoms appear and are marked by the emergence of non-motor symptoms related to PD, such as rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD), restless leg syndrome (RLS), excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), depression and anxiety, changes in blood pressure, gastrointestinal dysfunction, and urinary problems.

Methods: Study participants were categorized into HPV-positive or HPV-negative groups, after which they completed the General Characteristics Questionnaire and the SAS Anxiety Scale. The HPV-positive cohort was further divided into four subgroups: Subgroup 1 consisted of individuals with HPV types 16 or 18 but no cytological abnormalities.

Background And Purpose: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by progressive cognitive decline and neuronal loss, commonly linked to amyloid-β plaques, neurofibrillary tangles, and neuroinflammation. Recent research highlights the gut microbiota as a key player in modulating neuroinflammation, a critical pathological feature of AD. Understanding the role of the gut microbiota in this process is essential for uncovering new therapeutic avenues and gaining deeper insights into AD pathogenesis.

Population growth and improved industrialization have led to a sharp rise in the demand for plant medicine. In recent years, there has been a general concern about developing new medicinal resources, cutting down on pharmaceutical waste, and discovering new, effective components of traditional Chinese medicine. A novel medication called Wuteng tablets is made from Schisandra chinensis stems and shows promise as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease caused by multiple causes. The main pathological features of AD are β-amyloid (Aβ) deposition, hyperphosphorylation of Tau protein, and progressive neuronal loss. Pyroptosis is one of the main forms of neuronal death, which is mainly caused by the activation of Gasdermin protein by upstream signals and the release of its N-terminal domain on the cell membrane.
