Adv Sci (Weinh)

November 2024

Key Laboratory of Bio-based Material Science & Technology (Ministry of Education), Northeast Forestry University, Harbin, 150040, P. R. China.

Hybrid wood fiber/plastic composites offer a high-value-added utilization for agroforestry waste, which also providing a promising solution for reducing white pollution. However, the interface incompatibility between natural wood fibers and polymers significantly impairs the mechanical properties of the composites. Herein, a straightforward procedure is proposed to solve this problem, involving the removal of low-thermal-stability hemicellulose from wood fibers by hydrothermal pretreatment, followed by compositing with polyamide to produce hydrothermally treated wood fiber/polyamide composites (HWPACs).

Vanadate-Mediated Mismatch Configuration over the Reconstructed Nickel-Iron Electrocatalyst for Boosting Alkaline Oxygen Evolution.

Nano Lett

October 2024

MIIT Key Laboratory of Critical Materials Technology for New Energy Conversion and Storage, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150001, China.

During the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), catalyst candidates that can fully trigger self-reconstruction to derive active species with favorable configurations are expected to overcome the sluggish reaction kinetics. Herein, we innovatively propose the introduction of heterogeneous vanadate dopants into nickel-iron alloy precatalysts, where the crystal mismatch structure induces local electron delocalization in the hexagonal close packed alloy phase, thereby facilitating adequate electrochemical reconstruction to form (oxy)hydroxides as the real catalytic species. Simultaneously, the participation of vanadate in the reconstruction also triggers mismatch in the derived (oxy)hydroxides, reinforcing the metal-oxygen covalence, so that lattice oxygen activation is kinetically favorable and facilitates the OER via the lattice oxygen pathway.

Objective: In the past, the localization of seizure onset zone (SOZ) primarily relied on traditional EEG signal analysis methods. However, due to their limited spatial and temporal resolution, accurately pinpointing neural activity was challenging, thereby restricting their clinical applicability. Compared with traditional EEG signals, SEEG signals have superior spatial and temporal resolution, and can more accurately record neural activity near epileptic foci, making them better suited for studying SOZ.

With the gradual shift of coal mining to the western coal mining region of China, floor heave in weakly cemented mudstone roadways has become an issue affecting the safety and efficiency of coal mine production. Additionally, different mining rates can lead to fluctuating support stresses on the roof and floor of weakly cemented mudstone roadways. Therefore, obtaining a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical properties of weakly cemented mudstone at different loading rates is conducive to improving the issue of floor heave in such roadways and provides a theoretical basis for further study.

Experimental studies have demonstrated that the gas phase contact angle (CA) of a surface nanobubble (SNB) is much smaller than that of a macroscopic gas bubble. This reduced CA plays a crucial role in prolonging the lifetime of SNBs by lowering the bubble pressure and preventing gas molecules from dissolving in the surrounding liquids. Despite extensive efforts to explain the anomalously small CA, a consensus about the underlying reasons is yet to be reached.
