Small for gestational age (SGA) infants affected by placental insufficiency are exposed to the risk of stillbirth and long-term complications. Based on RNA-seq and mass spectrometry, we identified dysregulated RNAs and proteins from the comparisons of SGA placental tissues and controls. We revealed two SGA-relevant co-expression modules (SRMs) that also significantly distinguished SGA from controls.

Introduction/objectives: Several observational investigations have observed the possible links between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and metabolic dysfunction associated with fatty liver disease (MAFLD), yet the underlying causal relationships remain undetermined. This study aimed to systemically infer the causal associations between AD and MAFLD by employing a bidirectional network two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.
Methods: Genome-wide significant (P < 5 × 10) genetic variants associated with AD and MAFLD were selected as instrumental variables (IVs) from the consortium of FinnGen, MRC-IEU, UK biobank, and genome-wide association studies (GWAS), respectively.

Purpose: To investigate the potential associations between unhealthy chrononutrition behaviors (meal timing, frequency, and regularity) and their combined impact on cardiometabolic risk in adolescence.
Methods: Chrononutrition behaviors were assessed using a 7-day ecological momentary assessment (EMA). The unhealthy chrononutrition score (ranging from 0 to 8) was determined based on late meal timing, low meal frequency, and meal irregularity.

The microbiota, intensely intertwined with mammalian physiology, significantly impacts health, productivity, and reproductive functions. The normal microbiota interacts with the host through the following key mechanisms: acting as a protective barrier against pathogens, maintain mucosal barrier integrity, assisting in nutrient metabolism, and modulating of the immune response. Therefore, supporting growth and development of host, and providing protection against pathogens and toxic substances.

Background: Outdoor artificial light at night (ALAN) has emerged as a significant source of environmental pollution, however its association with antenatal depression and anxiety symptoms has been rarely explored before.
Methods: This study was based on a cohort study conducted at the Maternal and Child Health Care Center in Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province, China, which ultimately included 1047 pregnant women. Depression and anxiety symptoms were evaluated utilizing the self-administered Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Scale (GAD-7), respectively.

Maternal separation (MS) increases the risk of occurrence of anxiety, depression, and learning and memory impairment in offspring. However, the underlying molecular biological mechanisms remain unclear. In the current study, offspring CD-1 mice were separated from their mothers from postnatal day 4 to postnatal day 21.

The relationship between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and screen time (ST) has been extensively studied; but the evidence remains inconsistent, and a comprehensive quantitative synthesis of this association is lacking. This study aims to provide a robust quantitative assessment of the relationship between ASD and ST by consolidating and analyzing available evidence to offer a more precise understanding of this complex association. This systematic review followed PRISMA 2020 statement, and applied a quality assessment tool for quantitative studies to identity best available evidence.

Severe postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is a dangerous condition, characterized by rapid progression and poor prognosis. It remains the leading preventable cause of maternal death worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the risk factors for severe PPH and establish a prediction model to identify severe PPH early, allowing for early intervention reduce maternal death.

Despite the well-established link between mothers' depressive symptoms and youth behavioral problems, it remains unclear whether the mechanism by which mothers' depressive symptoms promote behavioral problems may also be related to individual differences in this relation. Following the three-variable system integrating mediation and moderation, this study used an integrative model to simultaneously examine the mediating and moderating role of emotional reactivity in the longitudinal associations between maternal depressive symptoms and internalizing and externalizing problems in youth. Participants were 1060 youth and their mothers from the NICHD Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development (49.

Background: Thyroid dysfunction and frontal lobe gray matter volume (GMV) alterations are associated with violence in schizophrenia (SCZ); however, little is known about the relationship between thyroid dysfunction and frontal lobe GMV. This study aimed to evaluate whether thyroid hormone levels were associated with frontal lobe GMV in male patients with schizophrenia and violence.
Methods: Fifty-five male patients with SCZ underwent triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine (fT3), and free thyroxine (fT4) tests and structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI) scans.

Background: The development of bullying victimization among adolescents displays significant individual variability, with general, group-based interventions often proving insufficient for partial victims. This study aimed to conduct a machine learning-based predictive analysis of bullying victimization trajectories among Chinese early adolescents and to examine the underlying determinants.
Methods: Data were collected from 1549 students who completed three assessments of bullying victimization from 2019 to 2021.

Timing of food intake is an emerging aspect of nutrition; however, there is a lack of research accurately assessing food timing in the context of the circadian system. The study aimed to investigate the relation between food timing relative to clock time and endogenous circadian timing with adiposity and further explore sex differences in these associations among 151 young adults aged 18-25 years. Participants wore wrist actigraphy and documented sleep and food schedules in real time for 7 consecutive days.

Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), an environmental endocrine disruptor, has hormone-like activity and endocrine-disrupting effects. However, the types of reproductive hormones associated with DEHP vary across the studies. Thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to pool existing epidemiological evidence.

Objectives: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) / toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway and inflammatory injury in rats with focal cerebral ischemia (FCI), so as to explore its mechanisms underlying amelioration of ischemic stroke.
Methods: Male SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation (=18), model (=18) and EA (=18) groups. The FCI model was established according to Longa's method.

The increasing role of environmental pollutants and nutrients in the development of myopia. Further longitudinal evidence is needed to elucidate the effects of early-life environmental pollutants on myopia and nutrients to protect against pollutant-induced myopia. We used mother-child dyads from the Ma'anshan Birth Cohort (n = 2028) to explore the modifying effects of maternal vitamin D status of prenatal and childhood arsenic exposure with refractive parameters and myopia.

Background: Previous researches found that maternal adverse childhood experiences not only affect the psychological behavior of preschool children, but also have direct or indirect negative effects on the executive functions and cognition of offspring. And, the possible social psychological mechanism between maternal adverse childhood experiences and preschool children's executive functions is still not clear.
Objectives: This study mainly tries to understand the association between parenting stress and child maltreatment in maternal adverse childhood experiences and children's executive functions through longitudinal cohort.
