Chrysanthemi Flos has been consumed as floral tea for centuries, but the effects of stir-frying on its chemical profile, sensory characteristics, and bioactivity remain unclear. This study used untargeted metabolomics, sensory assessment (E-eye, E-nose, E-tongue), and antioxidant activity evaluation to investigate compositional changes and their effects. In the metabolomics analysis, a total of 101 non-volatile and 306 volatile differential metabolites were identified.

Arsenic is a common toxic heavy metal contaminant that is widely present in the ocean, and seaweeds have a strong ability to concentrate arsenic, posing a potential risk to human health. This study first analyzed the arsenic content in two different seaweeds and then used an innovative method to categorize the seaweeds into low-arsenic and high-arsenic groups based on their arsenic exposure levels. Finally, a non-targeted metabolomic analysis based on mass spectrometry was conducted on seaweed from different arsenic exposure groups.

Oxidative stress, dysbiosis, and immune dysregulation have been confirmed to play pivotal roles in the complex pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Herein, we design copper ion-luteolin nanocomplexes (CuL NCs) through a metal-polyphenol coordination strategy, which plays a multifaceted role in the amelioration of IBD. The fabricated CuL NCs function as therapeutic agents with exceptional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities because of their great stability and capacity to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS).

The quality of Chinese materia medica (CMM) is a challenging and focused topic in the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). A profound comprehension of the morphology, structure, active constituents, and dynamic changes during the whole process of CMM growth is essential, which needs highly precise contemporary techniques for in-depth elucidation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a cutting-edge tool integrating the benefits of both nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and imaging technology.

Objective: In China, Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs) have been widely used in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis (PsA), showing great therapeutic effects in clinical practice. However, due to the great heterogeneity of PsA and the diversity of CHM combination patterns, there is little high-level evidence-based medical research on the treatment of PsA with CHMs. This study aims to explore the beneficial effects of CHMs on the immune inflammation in PsA and its specific mechanism.

Background: Xiaohua Funing Tang (XHFND) is a decoction formula of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and possesses the potential to manage chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) with liver depression and spleen deficiency (LDSD), but the mechanisms were still unclear.
Purpose: Our aim is to reveal the overall synergistic mechanisms of XHFND against CAG with LDSD.
Methods: Based on a CAG rat model with LDSD, this study combined metabolomics, gut microbiota, and network pharmacology techniques to demonstrate the XHFND mechanisms with multiple components and targets.

Chemo/photothermal combination therapy is a promising and practical approach for cancer treatment which calls for certain nanovehicles to achieve the spatiotemporal co-occurrence of photothermal conversion and drug delivery. Herein, we developed a montmorillonite-based Pickering emulsion equipped with a near-infrared photothermal agent (indocyanine green, ICG) and anticarcinogen (paclitaxel, PTX). With both montmorillonite and ICG functioning as interfacial stabilizers, the Pickering emulsion showed good stability and nanoscale droplet size, which were favored for cellular applications.
