Advanced deep learning and statistical methods can predict structural models for RNA molecules. However, RNAs are flexible, and it remains difficult to describe their macromolecular conformations in solutions where varying conditions can induce conformational changes. Small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) in solution is an efficient technique to validate structural predictions by comparing the experimental SAXS profile with those calculated from predicted structures.

Gephyrocapsa huxleyi is a prevalent, bloom-forming phytoplankton species in the oceans. It exhibits a complex haplodiplontic life cycle, featuring a diploid-calcified phase, a haploid phase and a third 'decoupled' phase produced during viral infection. Decoupled cells display a haploid-like phenotype, but are diploid.

This pilot study evaluated CPX-351 in adults with newly diagnosed, favourable-intermediate risk, FLT3-ITD-negative AML. Twenty patients received CPX-351 for induction, with six also receiving gemtuzumab ozogamicin (GO). The complete response rate was 95%, with 42% achieving flow-based minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity post-induction.

Background: Species host diverse microbial communities that can impact their digestion and health, which has led to much interest in understanding the factors that influence their microbiota. We studied the developmental, environmental, and social factors that influence the microbiota of nestling barn owls (Tyto alba) through a partial cross-fostering experiment that manipulated the social and nest environment of the nestlings. We then examined the nestling microbiota before and three weeks after the exchange of nestlings between nests, along with the microbiota of the adults at the nest and nestlings in unmanipulated nests.

Purpose: There are no guidelines, what recommend pro or against cystography for identification of VUR for adults who suffer from first episode of pyelonephritis. The aim of this study was to look at incidence of VUR in adults with first episode of pyelonephritis, and to highlight recommendations for possible reflux investigation in these patients.
Methods: We have performed retrospective review of all patients who admitted at our department over the last decade with the working diagnosis of acute pyelonephritis.

Background: The management of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) patients with a small aortic annulus (SAA) postures a substantial challenge, increasing the risk of patient- prosthesis mismatch (PPM) and overall mortality.
Aims: This study aimed to compare the hemodynamic and clinical outcomes of transcatheter balloon-expandable valve (BEV) versus transcatheter self-expandable valve (SEV) in SAA.
Methods: We conducted propensity score matching (PSM) of severe AS patients with SAA who underwent trans-femoral TAVR and enrolled to the Israeli TAVR registry between the years 2008 and 2023.

Objectives: The PRASCO trial reported the short-term superiority of an antibiotic cocktail plus intravenous corticosteroids (IVCS) over IVCS alone in children with acute severe colitis (ASC). Here, we report the extension of the PRASCO trial and the long-term outcomes of the antibiotic cocktail in ASC.
Methods: This prospective follow-up of the PRASCO trial documented disease outcomes and treatments annually through 5 years.

Life histories of oviparous species dictate high metabolic investment in the process of gonadal development leading to ovulation. In vertebrates, these two distinct processes are controlled by the gonadotropins follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), respectively. While it was suggested that a common secretagogue, gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), oversees both functions, the generation of loss-of-function fish challenged this view.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. Mutations in genes and precursors of amyloid (Aβ) are found in the familial form of the disease. This led to the evaluation of seven monoclonal antibodies against Aβ in subjects with AD, two of which were approved for use by the FDA.

Introduction: It is not clear whether patients with postprandial symptoms enjoy the meal.
Methods: Prospective trial in patients with postprandial distress syndrome and healthy controls, comparing their responses with stepwise ingestion of a comfort meal.
Results: Healthy individuals (N = 18) enjoyed the meal and experienced digestive well-being.

Background And Aims: RORc-expressing immune cells play important roles in inflammation, autoimmune disease and cancer. They are required for lymphoid organogenesis and have been implicated in tertiary lymphoid structure (TLS) formation. TLSs are formed in many cancer types and have been correlated with better prognosis and response to immunotherapy.

Unlike monogastric animals, ruminants exhibit significantly lower starch digestibility in the small intestine. A better understanding of the physiological mechanisms that regulate digestion patterns in ruminants could lead to an increased use of starch concentrates. Here we show more robust pancreatic exocrine function in adult goats (AG) than in neonatal goats (NG) by combining scRNA-seq and proteomic analysis.

Systemic capillary leak syndrome (SCLS) is a rare life-threatening disorder due to profound vascular leak. The trigger and the cause of the disease are currently unknown and there is no specific treatment. Here, we identified a rare heterozygous splice-site variant in the TLN1 gene in a familial SCLS case, suggestive of autosomal dominant inheritance with incomplete penetrance.

Numerous studies have explored whether and how the spread of the SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), responds to environmental conditions without reaching consistent answers. Sociodemographic factors, such as variable population density and mobility, as well as the lack of effective epidemiological monitoring, make it difficult to establish robust correlations. Here we carry out a regional cross-correlation study between nine atmospheric variables and an infection index ( ) estimated from standardized positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test cases.

Introduction: Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a benign intra-osseous lesion. The lesion is painful and usually diagnosed by x-ray, computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). When the lesion is juxta-articular or intra-capsular, the symptoms may present differently than the typical OO lesion and make diagnosis more challenging.

Background: The identification and drug targeting of cancer causing (driver) genetic alterations has seen immense improvement in recent years, with many new targeted therapies developed. However, identifying, prioritizing, and treating genetic alterations is insufficient for most cancer patients. Current clinical practices rely mainly on DNA level mutational analyses, which in many cases fail to identify treatable driver events.

Background: Observational studies should not be used to infer causation as they are prone to confounding factors, selection bias, and reverse causality. Many observational studies of labor analgesia treated epidurals as an independent exposure and concluded that "epidurals" cause dystocia, despite multiple randomized controlled trials showing no effect. We highlight this problem using reductio ad absurdum.

This study investigates π-delocalization, π-bonding situations, and aromaticity of the pentazolate anion ([cyclo-N], ()), which was detected by Christe in 2002. To gain a broader perspective, we investigated the iso-π-electronic species [cyclo-P] () and [cyclo-(CH)] (). VB analyses reveal that the three studied molecules display significant resonance stabilization, as indicated by their high resonance energy values.
