LiFePO is a cathode material for lithium (Li)-ion batteries known for its excellent performance. However, compared with layered oxides and other ternary Li-ion battery materials, LiFePO cathode material exhibits low electronic conductivity due to its structural limitations. This limitation significantly impacts the charge/discharge rates and practical applications of LiFePO.

As sessile organisms, the plant immune system plays a vital role in protecting plants from the widespread pathogens in the environment. The (Arabidopsis) receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase BOTRYTIS-INDUCED KINASE1 (BIK1) acts as a central regulator during plant immunity. As such, not only the BIK1 protein accumulation but also the attenuation is tightly regulated to ensure effective immune responses.

Reversible protein phosphorylation, known as the "switch" of the cell, is controlled by protein kinases (PKs) and protein phosphatases (PPs). Based on substrate specificity, PPs are classified into protein serine/threonine phosphatases and protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs). PTPs can dephosphorylate phosphotyrosine and phosphoserine/phosphothreonine.

: Uricase, or urate oxidase (Uox) is a key enzyme in uric acid (UA) metabolism and has been applied in clinical treatment of human hyperuricemia (HUA). However, the current clinically applied uricases, despite their potent urate-lowering capacity, tend to form anti-drug antibodies because of their immunogenicity, leading to increased risk of anaphylaxis, faster drug clearance and reduced or even complete loss of therapeutic effect, limiting their clinical application. In this study, we constructed engineered macrophages that stably expressed uricase, which might serve as a promising alternative to the direct injection of uricases.

Obesity is a chronic and complex disease defined by the excessive deposition of fat and is highly associated with oxidative stress. Adzuki bean saponins (ABS) showed anti-obesity activity in our previous in vivo study; however, the active saponins of adzuki beans and potential mechanisms are still unclear. This research aims to elucidate the anti-obesity effects of ABS in improving lipid metabolism and oxidative stress, exploring the effective ingredients and potential molecular mechanisms through UHPLC-QE-MS analysis, network pharmacology, bioinformatics, and in vitro experiments both in the 3T3-L1 cell line and HepG2 cell line.

Extended testing time in Raven's Progressive Matrices (RPM) can lead to increased fatigue and reduced motivation, which may impair cognitive task performance. This study explores the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in RPM by combining eye-tracking technology with machine learning (ML) models, aiming to explore new methods for improving the efficiency of RPM testing and to identify the key metrics involved. Using eye-tracking metrics as features, ten ML models were trained, with the XGBoost model demonstrating superior performance.

Halogen, chalcogen, pnictogen, and tetrel bonds in organocatalysis have gained noticeable attention. In this work, carbon-bromide bond activation in the Ritter reaction by bidentate imidazole-type halogen, chalcogen, pnicogen, and tetrel bond donors was studied by density functional theory. All of the above four kinds of catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic performance.

Background: The extensive use of antibiotics in the global livestock industry in recent decades has accelerated the accumulation and dissemination of antibiotic-resistance genes (ARGs) within terrestrial ecosystems. This occurs due to the limited absorption of most antibiotics, leading to their release into the environment through feces and urine. This poses a significant threat to both the environment and human health.

Inclusion complexation, hydrogen bonds, π-π interaction, dipole-dipole interaction, and steric hindrance effect all contribute to the enantioseparation ability of cyclodextrin (CD) or CD derivatives. In this work, one native cationic CD chiral stationary phases (SHCDCSP) and four derivatized CD-CSPs, namely, per(4-trifluoromethyl) phenylcarbamoylated-β-CD CSP (SFPhCDCSP), per(4-chloro) phenylcarbamoylated-β-CD CSP (SCPhCDCSP), per(4-bromo) phenylcarbamoylated-β-CD CSP (SBPhCDCSP), and per(4-methyl) phenylcarbamoylated-β-CD CSP (SMPhCDCSP), were prepared via thioether linkage and applied for the enantioseparation of chiral lactides and chiral diketones in both reverse phase (RP) and normal phase (NP) modes. Most of the studied chiral lactides were found to be well resolved (R > 1.

Clustering of multi-view data divides objects into groups by preserving structure of clusters in all views, requiring simultaneously takes into consideration diversity and consistency of various views, corresponding to the shared and specific components of various views. Current algorithms fail to fully characterize and balance diversity and consistency of various views, resulting in the undesirable performance. Here, a novel Multi-View Clustering with Deep non-negative matrix factorization and Multi-Level Representation (MVC-DMLR) learning is proposed, which integrates feature learning, multi-level topology representation, and clustering of multi-view data.

Phototherapy, including photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT), has attracted wide attention in tumor treatment. However, the hypoxic tumor microenvironment and the heat shock proteins produced by tumor cells significantly reduce their efficacy. Developing effective phototherapy agents that have high reactive oxygen species generation efficiency and photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE) while simultaneously utilizing the hypoxic tumor microenvironment is of great importance.

Developing efficiency and long-lived room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials through straightforward methods is highly desired. In this work, a stepwise stabilization strategy was proposed by the coordination and in-situ precipitation reactions among organic precursors, inorganic cation and anions, producing room-temperature phosphorescence materials with high emission efficiency (phosphorescence quantum yield of 45 %). Structural and photophysical characterizations revealed the coordination reaction reduced the energy gaps between singlet and triplet states and stabilized the excited states of the guest molecules.

Mammalian membrane sialic acid is the key receptor for influenza virus. Sialidases, the main type of enzyme that can hydrolyze membrane sialic acids in mammalian cells, have the potential to affect the invasion process of influenza viruses, including H1N1. For the first time, this study focused on the regulation mechanism of sialidase NEU1 expression, and revealed that swine-origin influenza (H1N1) virus infection can promote NEU1 expression through histone H3 acetylation, which is regulated by HDAC2 in host cells.

Background: DNA methylation is an epigenetic modification that plays an important role in animal and plant development. Among the diverse types of DNA methylation modifications, methylation of cytosines catalyzed by DNA cytosine methyltransferases (DNMTs) is the most common. Recently, we characterized DNA methyltransferase genes including HlDnmt1 and HlDnmt from the Asian longhorned tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis.

Distinct target genes are modulated by microRNA members and affect various biological processes associated with abiotic stress responses in plants. In this study, we characterized a functional module comprising miRNA/target and a downstream MYB transcription factor partner, Tae-MIR1118/TaCaM2/TaMYB44, in Triticum aestivum to mediate the plant low-nitrogen (N) stress response. Dual luciferase (LUC) assay and expression analysis indicated that TaCaM2 is regulated by Tae-MIR1118 through a posttranscriptional cleavage mechanism.

Metal chalcogenide-based cathodes are crucial for the development of rechargeable magnesium batteries, yet the strong electrostatic interactions of Mg result in slow ion transport and high polarization. The Mg/Li hybrid battery holds promise for enhancing the energy storage capability. Herein, we establish a system that utilizes (Co,Cu)Se/CoSe heterostructure grown on carbon cloth as the cathode and APC-LiCl as a dual-salt electrolyte to achieve high reversible capacity, enhanced cyclic stability, and impressive rate performance.
