Janus particles, consisting of two or more chemically distinct composites within a single structural system, have attracted significant attention for their solid surfactant functionality, as well as their potential applications in micro/nanomotors and functional materials. Here, we present a simple and robust method to prepare plasmonic Janus particles consisting of a polystyrene-tethered gold nanorod (AuNRs@PS) head and a poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) head through emulsion confined assembly. The balance of the Janus particles can be finely tuned by adjusting the volume ratio of the AuNRs@PS solution and P4VP solution.

Introduction: The variety of organs carbon concentration may be important for tree survival rate, drought resistance and tree subsequent recovery. However, it remains unclear how drought affect structural carbohydrate (SC) and non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) export and transport on clonal plant, which can be correlated with sustain physiological metabolism and group drought resistance by resource sharing. To better understand the adaption ability of clone plants to drought and the linkage of organ carbon with soil organic carbon (SOC) fractions, we assessed how long-term drought affects organ carbon and its impact on SOC fractions among moso bamboo () ramets.

A systematic theoretical study was performed on the electrophilic and nucleophilic properties of Group 10 square-planar metal compounds [M(SCNEt)] (M = Ni , Pd , and Pt ) and their complexes. The nucleophilic metal center and coordinated sulfur atom in [M(SCNEt)] facilitate the formation of metal-involving and conventional noncovalent bonds. The presence a heavier metal center results in a more negative electrostatic potential and a larger nucleophilicity, which in turn leads to the formation of stronger metal-involving noncovalent bonds than those formed by a lighter metal center.

Supported Pt catalysts are often subjected to severe deactivation under the conditions of high temperature and water vapor in catalytic oxidation; thus, the superior stability and water-resistant ability of catalysts have great significance for the effective degradation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Herein, we constructed a Pt/CeO-N catalyst with an active interfacial perimeter, in which Pt species were partially embedded in the defective CeO-N support to prevent the sintering. A significant charge transfer between Pt species and ceria in the embedding structure occurred via the Pt-CeO interface, which induced the formation of a Pt-O-Ce interfacial structure.

Pollen sources and deposition processes in shallow lakes in densely populated plain areas are complicated, more modern studies are needed to establish the relationship between pollen and vegetation, so as to provide accurate indicators for environmental reconstruction. In this study, 23 surface sediments were collected from Changdang Lake in the Taihu Lake basin (covering inlets, outlets, and open water areas) for discussing the indicative significance of pollen on regional land cover and aquatic plants in the lake. The results show that the terrestrial pollen assemblages in surface sediments can reflect the main vegetation types in the watershed.
