Topological nodal line semimetals (TNLSMs), which exhibit one-dimensional (1D) band crossing in their electronic band structure, have been predicted to be potential catalysts in electrocatalytic processes. However, the current studies are limited to the TNLSMs where the dispersion around the nodal line is linear in all directions. Here, the potential application of the quadratic nodal line (QNL) semimetal NaCdSn in hydrogen evolution reaction is explored.

Although graphene oxide (GO) has extensive recognized application prospects in slow-release fertilizer, plant pest control, and plant growth regulation, the incorporation of GO into nano herbicides is still in its early stages of development. This study selected a pair of sweet corn sister lines, nicosulfuron (NIF)-resistant HK301 and NIF-sensitive HK320, and sprayed them both with 80 mg kg of GO-NIF, with clean water as a control, to study the effect of GO-NIF on sweet corn seedling growth, photosynthesis, chlorophyll fluorescence, and antioxidant system enzyme activity. Compared to spraying water and GO alone, spraying GO-NIF was able to effectively reduce the toxic effect of NIF on sweet corn seedlings.

Mitochondria are essential organelles that play critical roles in energy metabolism, apoptosis and various cellular processes. Accumulating evidence suggests that mitochondria are also involved in cancer development and progression. The mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPR) is a complex cellular process that is activated when the protein-folding capacity of the mitochondria is overwhelmed.

Salinity stress represents a major threat to crop production by inhibiting seed germination, growth of seedlings, and final yield and, therefore, to the social and economic prosperity of developing countries. Recently, plant growth-promoting substances have been widely used as a chemical strategy for improving plant resilience towards abiotic stresses. This study aimed to determine whether melatonin (MT) and glycine betaine (GB) alone or in combination could alleviate the salinity-induced impacts on seed germination and growth of maize seedlings.

Background: Perceived Stress has been shown as a key contributor to sleep quality, but the underlying mechanism between perceived stress and sleep quality remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the impact of perceived stress on sleep quality of college students and the chain mediating roles of presence of meaning in life (PML) and depression, as well as the moderating role of search for meaning in life (SML).
Methods: Participants were 8178 college students (4599 boys and 3579 girls; Mage = 19.

The dirhodium(II) complexes with bridging phosphine and OAc ligands showed high reactivity and selectivities in olefin dehydrosilylation. In order to determine the structure of the actual catalyst which cannot be determined experimentally, the geometries of the dirhodium catalyst, the detailed catalytic mechanism, and the stereo- and chemo-selectivities of the title reaction were studied using DFT calculations. The results showed that one OAc group is monodentate and the other is bidentate in the dirhodium catalyst C'.

Parabens are common contaminants in river and lake environments. However, few studies have been conducted to determine the effects of parabens on bacteria, phytoplankton, and zooplankton communities in aquatic environments. In this study, the effect of methylparaben (MP) on the diversity and community structure of the aquatic plankton microbiome was investigated by incubating a microcosm with MP at 0.

Brain iron homeostasis plays a vital role in maintaining brain development and controlling neuronal function under physiological conditions. Many studies have shown that the imbalance of brain iron homeostasis is closely related to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs), such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD). Recent advances have revealed the importance of iron transporters and regulatory molecules in the pathogenesis and treatment of NDs.

Sewage surveillance is a cost-effective tool for assessing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in urban populations. However, research on sewage AMR in remote areas is still limited. Here, we used shotgun metagenomic sequencing to profile antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and ARG-carrying pathogens (APs) across 15 cities in Tibetan Plateau (TP) and the major cities in eastern China.

Improving fluorescence emission efficiency is essential to develop novel luminescent materials. However, the low water solubility of conventional fluorescent dyes is a serious obstacle to broadening the application scope. Herein, a green protocol have been proposed: Two poorly water-soluble naphthalimide derivatives MONI and MANI with high fluorescent quantum yields (larger than 0.

Considering the importance of accurate information of full-length (FL) transcripts in functional analysis, researchers prefer to develop new sequencing methods based on third-generation sequencing (TGS) rather than short-read sequencing. Several FL circRNA sequencing strategies have been developed. However, the current methods are inapplicable to low-biomass samples, since a large amount of total RNAs are acquired for circRNA enrichment before library preparation.

Public health emergencies influence urban carbon emissions, yet an in-depth understanding of deviations between regional emissions under such emergencies and normal levels is lacking. Inspired by the concept of resilience, we introduce the concept of regional carbon resilience and propose four resilience indicators covering periods during and after emergencies. A synthetic difference-in-differences model is employed to compute these indicators, providing a more suitable approach than traditional methods assuming unchanged levels before and after emergencies.

Purpose: The incidence of visceral leishmaniasis (VL), a global infectious disease, has been on the rise in China's Hebei province. When patients achieve clinical cure, they often do not reach an etiological cure, which may lead to recurrence of the disease. Here, we report a case of visceral leishmaniasis with a negative blood smear and bone marrow cytology.

Late-onset Pompe disease (LOPD) is caused by a genetic deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme acid alpha-glucosidase (GAA), leading to progressive limb-girdle weakness and respiratory impairment. The insidious onset of non-specific early symptoms often prohibits timely diagnosis. This study aimed to validate the high-risk screening criteria for LOPD in the Chinese population.

Background: Exercise is recognized for its broad health benefits, influencing various physiological processes, including the behavior of adipose tissue macrophages (ATMs). While existing studies mainly associate ATM activity with obesity and metabolic syndrome, our study explores the impact of aerobic exercise on ATM microRNA expression profiling in a non-obese context, highlighting its general health-promoting mechanisms.
Methods: Sixty male C57BL/6 mice were randomly assigned to either a sedentary (S) or an exercise (E) group.
