Bending-induced enhanced spatial separation of dopants and long-lived conventional nanoribbon p-n junctions.

Phys Chem Chem Phys

October 2024

Department of Physics and Hebei Advanced Thin Film Laboratory, Hebei Normal University, Shijiazhuang 050024, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study highlights the importance of spatially separating dopants to improve the lifespan of nanoribbon p-n junctions, which are typically costly to create using van der Waals heterostructures.
  • Using atomistic quantum mechanical simulations, researchers found that bending nanoribbons alters where dopants preferentially locate, depending on their atomic sizes.
  • Larger dopants tend to cluster at the outer edges on the tensile side, while smaller ones prefer the inner edges on the compressive side, allowing for better spatial separation of n-type and p-type dopants in a more cost-effective way.

Background: Presently, the problem of digital addiction in young children is becoming more and more prominent, and digital addiction can cause significant harm to the healthy physical and mental development of young children. A growing body of research suggests that family socioeconomic status and parenting styles are associated with digital addiction. However, little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms behind this relationship, and few studies have explored whether this relationship holds in young children populations.

October 2024

Remote Sensing and Digital Earth Center, College of Computer Science and Technology, Qingdao University, Qingdao, 266071, China.

Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) plays a vital role in the carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems. For the purpose of assessing the performance of various GPP products in a typical tropical area, this study conducted an intercomparison of seven different GPP products over Hainan Island, China, and analyzed spatiotemporal characteristics of GPP in different elevation regions and vegetation types over study area. The results showed that although the GPP spatial distribution pattern over Hainan Island, as presented by different GPP products, is similar- showing that GPP values in the southwest are higher than those in the northeast- there are significant differences in the spatial distributions and magnitudes of each GPP product.
