Objective: Decrease in free thyroid hormone T3 (FT3) can be used as an independent prognostic indicator for the risk of death in ICUs. However, FT3 as a predictive marker is hindered by its accuracy. The study introduces the concept of dynamic FT3 data as a means to bolster the value of FT3 as a prognostic tool.

Introduction: This study aims to investigate association between glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) with bone mineral density (BMD) and osteoporosis-risk in postmenopausal female with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Methodology: HbA1c values, BMD of L3 vertebra and basic clinical data of 152 postmenopausal females with T2DM and 326 postmenopausal females without T2DM were retrospectively analyzed. The propensity score matching was used to match the T2DM and the non-T2DM group at a ratio of 1:1.

Three types of MC may be seen on MRI as abnormal bone signals of the vertebral endplate and adjacent bone marrow. This retrospective study of 203 patients with symptomatic cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) aimed to evaluate factors associated with MC on cervical spine MRI.

Background: To explore the feasibility of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) with asynchronous quantitative computed tomography (asynchronous QCT) for assessing the volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD).

Methods: 416 women patients, categorized into 4 groups, were included and underwent chest CT examinations combined with asynchronous QCT, and CT scanning dose protocols (LDCT or CDCT) were self-determined by the participants. Radiation dose estimations were retrieved from patient protocols, including volume CT dose index (CTDIvol) and dose-length-product (DLP), and then calculated effective dose (ED).

Ultrasound-based horizontal ranging in the localization of fetal conus medullaris.

Background: Currently, there are a variety of methods for ultrasound to localize the conus medullaris. A concern is that measured values can be influenced by variations in spinal flexion and extension.

Objective: To overcome this limitation, the present study measures the horizontal distance (HD) between the end of the conus medullaris and the caudal edge of last vertebral body ossification in normal fetus at different gestational weeks, and analyzes the relationship between the measured value and fetal growth, as well as the utility of these measurements in assessing the position of the conus medullaris.

Objectives: IDegLira is a novel fixed-ratio soluble combination of insulin degludec and the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) liraglutide approved for type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. Individual trials have assessed the clinical profile of IDegLira vs different comparators. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of IDegLira for T2D.

Clinical application of modified hip joint lateral position in femoral neck fracture.

Background: To show the femoral neck better in hip lateral view of X-ray, we design a modified hip lateral view and then investigate the value in femoral neck fractures.

Methods: CT images of 10 normal hip joints for 3D reconstruction were selected, the Mimics Medical 21.0 was used, and rotating the proximal femur was to find the most suitable angle for showing the femoral neck well, designed the modified lateral view according to this angle.

Objective: To assess the intra- and interobserver reliability by observer training level used for selecting the end vertebra (EV), neutral vertebra (NV), stable vertebra (SV), and first coronal reverse vertebrae (FCRV) in degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS) patients.

Methods: Fifty consecutive upright long-cassette radiographs and CT examination of operative cases of DLS were evaluated by three surgeons at various levels of training. For each iteration, the observers attempted to identify the UEV, NV and SV from x-ray, and FCRV from the CT examination.

mNGS for identifying pathogens in febrile neutropenic children with hematological diseases.

Objective: To investigate the application value of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in children with hematological diseases presenting with Febrile Neutropenia (FN).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 49 hematological children with FN, and compared the results of mNGS with those of traditional pathogen detection (TPD) and the prognoses of mNGS positive group and negative group.

Results: A total of 77 pathogenic strains were identified, of which 70 strains were detected by mNGS, 19 strains by TPD, and Aspergillus and G- bacterias were the predominant strains in FN children who developed bloodstream infections.
