Objective: To investigate the effect of bradykinin (BK) on cisplatin (DDP)-induced cardiotoxicity at the cellular level and its cytological mechanism.

Methods: The toxic effects of DDP on GP-H1 cells, and the effects of BK on DDP cardiomyocyte survival rate, DDP-induced malondialdehyde (MDA), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), reactive oxygen species (ROS), mitochondria membrane potential (MMP) and apoptosis were explored.

Results: DDP at different concentrations inhibited GP-H1 cells at 12 h after administration, and the inhibitory effect was more prominent at 24 h after administration and continued until 72 h after administration.

Objective: Prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD) is one of the most common cancers, with high morbidity and mortality. Triggering receptors expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) is upregulated in various malignancies, however its effect on PRAD remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of TREM2 in PRAD.

Objectives: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) cells often reprogram their metabolisms. Enolase 3 (ENO3) is closely related to the Warburg effect observed in cells during tumor progression. However, the expression and function of ENO3 in ccRCC cells remain unclear.

The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics and risk factors for postoperative periprosthetic femoral fracture (PFF). This was a retrospective cohort study of 108 patients with and 432 control patients without postoperative PFF. Demographic characteristics, surgery-related information (primary hip disease diagnosed, fixation, femoral stem, method of operation, and bone resorption of the proximal femur), and postoperative patient outcomes (hip function, treatment history, and patients' lifestyle behaviors) were recorded and compared between the groups.

This study aimed to investigate the characteristics and prognosis of distant metastasis (DM) after primary treatment for early-stage extranodal nasal-type natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL). A total of 1619 patients from the China Lymphoma Collaborative Group database were retrospectively reviewed. The cumulative incidence of DM was assessed using Fine and Gray's competing risk analysis.

Objective: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been shown to play an important role in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury. This study aimed to determine the role of miR-432 in MI/R injury.

Methods: We established a MI/R injury model by ligation/untying of the left anterior descending coronary artery, and used viral infection to regulate gene expression, such as that of miR-432 and , and used RT-qPCR to detect the expression of the gene at mRNA level.

: oxidative stress is linked to various human diseases which developed into the idea of "disrupted redox signaling". Osteoporosis (OP) is a chronic skeletal disorder characterized by low bone mineral density and deterioration of bone microarchitecture among which estrogen deficiency is the main cause. Lack of estrogen leads to the imbalance between oxidation and anti-oxidation in patients, and oxidative stress is an important link in the pathogenesis of OP.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is a common comorbidity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and systemic inflammation is an important mechanism of COPD with AS. Tongxinluo (TXL) improves the function of vascular endothelial cells. We aimed to prove that impairment of pulmonary microvascular barrier function is involved in COPD-mediated aggravation of AS and investigate whether TXL enhances the effect of Ato (atorvastatin) on COPD with AS by protecting pulmonary microvascular endothelial barrier function.

It has been reported before that acidic leucine-rich nuclear phosphoprotein 32 family member B (ANP32B) plays roles in many cancers, yet no report of its role in lung cancer exists. In this study, we documented an elevation of ANP32B within lung cancer tissues and cells. Knockdown of ANP32B hindered the proliferation as well as migration of lung cancer cells, whereas overexpression of ANP32B helps to promote the malignant progression of lung cancer.

Taiju and Duoju are products of Hangbaiju (HJ) obtained during different collection periods, and they have been commonly used as ingredients in tea beverages and dietary traditional Chinese medicine. This study reports an integrated strategy based on metabolomics, bioinformatics and molecular docking to further explore the effect of the harvesting period on the metabolic profile and clinical efficacy of HJ. Firstly, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-TOF/MS) were employed for non-targeted metabolomics profiling of essential oils and flavonoids.

Objective: Studies have shown that dyslipidemia may contribute to chronic tissue hypoxia. However, it remains unclear whether dyslipidemia affects chronic hypoxia in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Therefore, from a clinical practice perspective, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of dyslipidemia on chronic hypoxia in OSAHS patients.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the connection between trunk balance, head posture, and plantar pressure in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), focusing on imaging data from 80 patients.
  • It finds that a significant percentage of AIS patients experience trunk imbalance, particularly in the coronal plane, with a notable tilt to the left.
  • Results indicate that trunk imbalance is associated with greater head offsets, larger center of pressure sway areas, and reduced stability while standing.

Article Synopsis
  • HMO (Hereditary Multiple Osteochondroma) is a rare genetic disorder that causes noncancerous bone tumors to form, primarily affecting children.
  • The study involved analyzing seven children diagnosed with HMO through X-rays and genetic testing like whole exome sequencing (WES), revealing several newly identified genetic variants.
  • Findings contributed to a better understanding of the genetic landscape of HMO, providing insights for family genetic counseling and patient management.

Objectives: In vascular remodeling diseases, proliferation and inflammation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) constitute the basic pathologic processes. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) exerts a protective effect on the cardiovascular system, but the molecular mechanism is unclear.

Methods: The plasma DHEA was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits.

An analytical method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of 12 anti-obesity drugs (methylephedrine (MER), amphetamine (AMP), fenfluramine (FEN), bupropion (BUP), fluoxetine (FLU), sibutramine (SIBU), bisacodyl (BISA), bumetanide (BUM), lovastatin (LOVA), simvastatin (SIM), rimonabant (RIMO), and fenofibrate (FENO)) in human plasma by a 96-well protein precipitation plate combined with high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). The 96-well protein precipitation plate was chosen for simultaneous pretreatment of large sample volumes, making the whole process more efficient and faster. Drugs were separated on an Agilent Poroshell 120 EC-C18 column, and detected by MS/MS under multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignant tumors. Although there are multiple therapeutic methods, the 5-year survival rate for GC remains low primarily due to metastasis and resistance to chemotherapy. GC treatments, which include chemotherapy drugs, targeted drugs, and immunologic drugs, improve the prognosis of advanced GC patients.
