Background: Hemophilic arthropathy (HA) is a joint disease characterized by local iron overload, stemming from erythrocyte rupture and closely linked to synovial lesions. However, the precise molecular characteristics of clinical HA synovial samples remain to be defined.
Objectives: To gain insight into HA synovial tissue lesions, we utilized a metalloprotein strategy to compare the metal and protein spectra of HA with those of osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Acute lung injury (ALI) and its severe form, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), result from pulmonary edema and alveolar-capillary barrier disruption due to inflammation, often triggered by conditions like sepsis. Sepsis-induced ALI (SALI) involves extensive damage to vascular endothelium and alveolar epithelium, leading to respiratory failure. Our study explores ferroptosis, an iron-dependent cell death pathway, and calcium dysregulation in SALI.

Background: With advancements in imaging testing and surgical procedures, an increasing number of nodules with smaller diameters and deeper locations have been deemed suitable for surgical intervention. The preoperative localization of these nodules has become essential. In this retrospective single-center study, we aimed to compare the effectiveness and patient comfort associated with the use of a four-hook needle versus a hook-wire needle for preoperative localization.

Background: While NDUFAF6 is implicated in breast cancer, its specific role remains unclear.
Methods: The expression levels and prognostic significance of NDUFAF6 in breast cancer were assessed using The Cancer Genome Atlas, Gene Expression Omnibus, Kaplan-Meier plotter and cBio-Portal databases. We knocked down NDUFAF6 in breast cancer cells using small interfering RNA and investigated its effects on cell proliferation and migration ability.

Background: Anti-programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) antibody combined with chemotherapy simultaneously is regarded as the standard treatment for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by current clinical guidelines. Different immune statuses induced by chemotherapy considerably affect the synergistic effects of the chemo-anti-PD-1 combination. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the optimal timing of combination treatment administration.

Rationale: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAA-ri) is a treatable condition characterized by an acute or subacute onset, with its primary pathological hallmark being the deposition of amyloid, predominantly β-amyloid (Aβ), within intracranial microvessels. Despite its potential for treatment, CAA-ri is a rare disorder that is frequently underrecognized by clinicians in practice. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the clinical manifestations and therapeutic approaches associated with CAA-ri, aiming to enhance awareness among healthcare professionals.

Idiopathic eosinophilia, characterized by unexplained peripheral blood eosinophilia after ruling out secondary causes, is an extremely rare condition. Cryptococcal meningitis is a life-threatening opportunistic infection that primarily affects immunocompromised individuals, such as those with advanced AIDS or leukemia. In this report, we present a unique case of idiopathic eosinophilia concurrent with cryptococcal meningitis, which, to the best of our knowledge, is the first such case described globally.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of the combination of microwave ablation (MWA) with immune checkpoints blockade and TLR9 stimulation in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using the C57BL/6 tumor-bearing mice model.
Materials And Methods: Tumor-bearing mice were treated with MWA, programmed cell death protein1 blockade (PD-1) plus MWA (MWA + P), TLR9 agonist CpG ODNs and MWA (MWA + C), PD-1 blockade and CpG ODNs (P + C), MWA plus PD-1 blockade and CpG ODNs (MWA + P + C), or untreated. Survival time was evaluated with the Kaplan-Meyer method comparing survival curves by log-rank test.

Air pollution is closely associated with the development of multiple metabolic diseases. Circadian syndrome (CircS), as an extended concept of metabolic syndrome (MetS), has been proven to be a better predictor of metabolic diseases than MetS. However, the relationship between volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and CircS in pre- and postmenopausal remains unclear.

Background: Cardiac contractility modulation (CCM) is non-excitatory electrical stimulation for improving cardiac function. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of CCM on autophagy and apoptosis of cardiac myocytes in a rabbit model of chronic heart failure (CHF) and explore its possible mechanism.
Methods: Thirty rabbits were randomised into the Sham, heart failure (HF) and CCM groups, and animals in all three groups were sacrificed after 16 weeks of ascending aortic constriction or sham surgery.

Background: Obesity, depressive symptoms, and periodontitis are major worldwide health concerns. Despite separate studies on both illnesses, no research has directly examined the link between depressive symptoms and periodontitis in obese people. Given the close correlation between obesity and chronic illnesses, as well as the possibility of a bidirectional impact between depressive symptoms and periodontitis, this study aims to investigate the link between depressive symptoms and periodontitis in an obese population.

To achieve rapid and simultaneous detection of NoV GI, NoV GII, and HAV, a quadruple real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) assay was developed using MS2 bacteriophage as a process control virus. The quadruple RT-qPCR assay effectively detected NoV GI, NoV GII, HAV, and MS2 RNA with detection limits of 10 copies/μL, 10 copies/μL, 10 copies/μL, and 10 copies/μL, respectively, within 1 hour 50 minutes. The quadruple RT-qPCR assay could specifically detect NoV GI, NoV GII, HAV, and MS2 without cross-reactions with other common pathogens, demonstrating good reproducibility with intra-assay and inter-assay coefficients of variation all below 2.

BACKGROUND Dual antiplatelet therapy is the main treatment for cardiovascular diseases (CADs). In this study, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of aspirin combined with low-dose rivaroxaban in the secondary prevention of high-risk ischemic cardiovascular diseases. MATERIAL AND METHODS In total, 168 patients who were diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction or multiple vessel disease 1 year after percutaneous coronary intervention were divided into 2 groups: the aspirin group (aspirin as acetylsalicylic acid: 100 mg once daily) and the aspirin + rivaroxaban group (aspirin: 100 mg once daily, rivaroxaban: 2.

Background: In recent years, the increasing incidence of osteoarthritis (OA) has attracted widespread public attention; however, the available effective treatments are limited. As a result, new therapeutic approaches, including stem cell and exosome therapies, have been proposed and are gradually gaining popularity. Because exosomes are immunocompatible, there is thought to be more potential for their use in clinical settings.

Background: Considering that the respective effects of obesity and hyperlipidemia on knee osteoarthritis (OA) have not been fully investigated, the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of obesity or hyperlipidemia with the synovitis and structural abnormalities of knee OA, and the effect of obesity and hyperlipidemia on functional outcomes of total knee arthroplasty.
Methods: There were 99 OA patients without obesity and hyperlipidemia in Group 1, 100 OA patients only with obesity in Group 2, 98 OA patients only with hyperlipidemia in Group 3, and 97 OA patients with both obesity and hyperlipidemia in Group 4. Semi-quantitative synovial inflammatory markers were measured including effusion-synovitis, size and intensity of infrapatellar fat pad abnormality, and synovial proliferation score.
