Prenatal diagnosis of midgut volvulus by fetal MRI: a retrospective study.

Background: Fetal midgut volvulus is a rare disease, with a high risk of potentially life-threatening fetal complications.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze the imaging findings of fetal midgut volvulus diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and explore its value in non-invasive prenatal diagnosis.

Methods: A retrospective collection of data from 156 fetuses suspected of intestinal obstruction by ultrasound examination in our hospital was conducted.

Development and assessment of the health-related quality of life scale for children with hearing loss in China.

Background: Hearing loss significantly affects children's lives; however, the health-related quality of life (QoL) of children with this disability is not well measured. We sought to develop a reliable and valid measure of health-related QoL in children with hearing loss.

Methods: We constructed a conceptual framework to assess the QoL of children with hearing loss based on the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ Version 4.

Glecirasib in KRAS-mutated nonsmall-cell lung cancer: a phase 2b trial.

Glecirasib (JAB-21822) is a new covalent oral KRAS-G12C inhibitor. This multicenter, single-arm phase 2b study assessed the efficacy and safety of glecirasib administered orally at 800 mg daily in patients with locally advanced or metastatic KRAS-mutated nonsmall-cell lung cancer. The primary endpoint was the objective response rate (ORR) assessed by an independent review committee (IRC).

[Pathological diagnosis of solid pancreatic lesions with endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration: a series study of 311 cases].

To investigate the combined application of cytology, cell block histology and immunohistochemistry to improve the diagnostic accuracy of solid pancreatic lesions in endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) samples. The pathological data of EUS-FNA in 311 cases of solid pancreatic lesions submitted to the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University, Shijiazhuang, China from May 2019 to September 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The cases included pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC, 172 cases), solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN, 12 cases), neuroendocrine tumors (PNET, 14 cases) and chronic pancreatitis (113 cases).

Pancreatic cancer is characterized by occult onset, low early diagnosis rate, rapid progress, and poor prognosis. Due to the low response rate and low PD-L1 expression in pancreatic cancer, the therapeutic application of PL-L1 inhibitors in pancreatic cancer is greatly limited. In vitro studies showed that the expression of PD-L1 increased in pancreatic cancer cells stimulated by fluorouracil (5-FU).

SUMOylation Inhibitors Exert a Protective Effect on Oxidative Damage in Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells Through the Keap1/Nrf2/ARE Signaling Pathway.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of the SUMOylation inhibitor TAK981 on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced oxidative damage in human retinal pigment epithelial cells (ARPE-19) and its regulatory mechanism.

Methods: An oxidative damage model of ARPE-19 cells induced by H2O2 was established, and 1, 2, and 5 µM TAK981 solutions were administered for intervention respectively. Normal cells were used as the control group.

IL-17 affects the immune regulation of CD4+ T cells in dilated cardiomyopathy through JAK/STAT pathway.

Purpose: Studying the effect of interleukin-17 (IL-17) on the mechanism of CD4+ T-cell immune regulation and the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway may offer new ideas and methods for the therapy of dilated cardiomyopathy.

Methods: Naive CD4+ T cells were isolated from mice using a magnetic bead sorting reagent and manipulated by overexpression or knockdown of IL-17. Protein levels of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2), phosphorylated JAK2 (p-JAK2), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), phosphorylated STAT3 (p-STAT3), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) were determined by Western blotting.

TangBi Formula for Painful Diabetic Distal Symmetric Polyneuropathy: A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled and Parallel-Group Trial.

Objective: To determine whether the use of herbal medicines combined with conventional treatment is more effective than conventional medication alone in improving clinical symptoms in patients with diabetic distal symmetric polyneuropathy (DSPN).

Methods: This multicenter, placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial recruited patients from 6 clinical centers in mainland China. A total of 188 patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to the treatment group (Tangbi Formula plus methylcobalamin) and the control group (placebo plus methylcobalamin).

Epidemiology of breast cancer in Chinese women from 1990 to 2021: a systematic analysis and comparison with the global burden.

Background: Breast cancer is a major global public health concern and a major cause of cancer-related mortality. In 2020, 8.3% of the total breast cancer deaths worldwide were reported from China, which highlighted the need to understand the epidemiological trends of breast cancer within the country.

Primary Hepatocellular Carcinosarcoma: A Case Series and Literature Review.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinosarcoma (HCS) is a rare and aggressive liver tumor with limited clinical evidence due to its infrequency. This case series aimed to enrich the existing knowledge on the diagnosis and clinical management of HCS.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic and disabling psychiatric disorder characterized by recurrent intrusive thoughts or repetitive behaviors. We sought to better understand the structure of gut microbiota in first visit registration, treatment-naive children and adolescents with OCD, and the relationship between gut microbiota and fecal metabolites. Thus we studied the gut microbial population using 16 S rRNA sequencing in 49 children (8-17 years of age) with OCD, 42 healthy controls (HCs).

S100 calcium-binding protein A8 exacerbates deep vein thrombosis in vascular endothelial cells.

Previous studies highlighting the pivotal function of the S100A8 protein have shown that inflammation and vascular endothelial harm play a major role in deep vein thrombosis (DVT) development, as evidenced by earlier studies highlighting the pivotal function of the S100 calcium-binding protein A8 (S100A8). Therefore, we aimed to establish a connection between S100A8 and DVT and investigate the role of S100A8 in DVT development. Blood specimens were taken from 23 patients with DVT and 31 controls.

Unveiling the uncommon: hypoplasia of external iliac artery-a case report and literature review.

The absence or dysplasia of the iliac artery(IA) is an exceedingly rare condition, with limited cases documented in the literature. In this report, we present a case of hypoplasia of the right external iliac artery (EIA) in a 69-year-old male patient. The patient presented with right lower abdominal pain attributed to an aneurysm of the right internal iliac artery (IIA), yet notably, there was no evidence of lower limb ischemia at the time of consultation.

This multicenter Phase II/III trial evaluated the optimal dosage, efficacy, and safety of SHR8554, a biased MOR agonist, for postoperative pain management following orthopedic surgery. In Phase II, 121 patients were divided into four groups to receive varying patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) doses of SHR8554 or morphine.

Associations between stress hyperglycemia and outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke and TIA: the data comes from the Third China National Stroke Registry (CNSR-III).

In the acute stage of stroke, stress hyperglycemia is common in both diabetic and nondiabetic patients. The associations between stress hyperglycemia and functional outcomes, as well as stroke recurrence were heterogeneous in previous studies. We aimed to demonstrate these associations in a general population of patients with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Methods: Utilizing diverse analytical techniques on an osteoarthritis dataset, we unveil distinct gene expression patterns and regulatory relationships, shedding light on potential mechanisms underlying the disease. Techniques used include the culture of MSCs, induction of differentiation into chondrocytes, establishment of stable cell lines, Western Blot, and immunofluorescence.

Screening for retinopathy of prematurity in China: a five-year cohort study in seven screening centers.

Background: To analyze the demographic characteristics of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in China, attempting to propose optimized screening criteria and hopefully providing valuable information for future updates to the ROP guideline.

Methods: A multicenter, retrospective-cohort study was conducted. The study included infants born between January 1, 2018, and July 31, 2023, who underwent ROP screening and were diagnosed with ROP at seven screening centers in China.

Assessment of the impact of different SARS-CoV-2 inactivation operations on colistin sulfate plasma concentration results.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of different SARS-CoV-2 inactivation methods on the blood concentration of colistin sulfate.

Methods: A colistin sulfate reference substance, a quality control plasma sample, and a clinically measured sample were transferred and heated in a 56 °C water batch for 30 min or irradiated under an ultraviolet (UV) lamp for 60 min to examine the stability of the reference solution and quality control plasma sample. Statistical analysis was conducted for the concentration of the clinically measured sample before and after inactivation with the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) method, the Passing-Bablok regression, and the Bland-Altman analysis.
