Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has an aggressive clinical course, and paclitaxel (PTX)-based chemotherapy remains the main therapeutic drug. Metadherin (MTDH) acts as an oncogene that regulates proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and chemoresistance. This study aimed to investigate whether TNBC chemosensitivity to PTX was related to the MTDH/AKT/glycogen synthase kinase-3beta (GSK-3β) pathway.

Background Preoperative assessment of follicular thyroid neoplasms is challenging using the current US risk stratification systems (RSSs) that are applicable to papillary thyroid neoplasms. Purpose To develop a US feature-based RSS for differentiating between follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) in biopsy-proven follicular neoplasm and compare it with existing RSSs. Materials and Methods This retrospective multicenter study included consecutive adult patients who underwent conventional US and received a final diagnosis of follicular thyroid neoplasm from seven centers between January 2018 and December 2022.

Cell division cycle 42 (CDC42) mediates immune escape in cancers. This study aimed to investigate linkages of CDC42 with tumor features, treatment response, and survival in advanced melanoma patients receiving programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitors. Pre-treatment and post-treatment (after 2 cycles) serum CDC42 of 35 advanced melanoma patients receiving PD-1 inhibitor was assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Background: Oxaliplatin (Oxa) is the first-line chemotherapy drug for colorectal cancer (CRC), and Oxa resistance is crucial for treatment failure. Prostaglandin F synthase (PGF) (PGFS), an enzyme that catalyzes the production of PGF, is involved in the proliferation and growth of a variety of tumors. However, the role of PGFS in Oxa resistance in CRC remains unclear.

Background: Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs), as ectopic lymphoid-like tissues, are highly similar to secondary lymphoid organs and are not only involved in chronic inflammation and autoimmune responses but are also closely associated with tumor immunotherapy and prognosis. The complex composition of the urological tumor microenvironment not only varies greatly in response to immunotherapy, but the prognostic value of TLSs in different urological tumors remains controversial.

Background: Degenerative spine conditions are common and frequent clinical diseases, and adjacent segment disease (ASD) after spinal fusion (SF) is a common complication after spinal fusion (SF). In this study, we established an animal model of ASD after interbody fusion to observe the morphologic changes of adjacent segment (AS) disks and to determine the expression and significance of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) in ASD tissues to provide a good experimental basis and reference for clinical prevention and treatment of ASD after interbody fusion.

Methods: Thirty-six male and female New Zealand rabbits weighing 2.

Recently, additive manufacturing (AM) has been investigated as an innovative method to manufacture stents due to its capability in producing complex and customized structures. In this paper, the cardiovascular stents of M-type and N-type with inverse unequal height strut structure and N-type with equal height strut structure were designed and manufactured by Selective Laser Melting (SLM). Following surface polishing, balloon expansion, plane compression and three-point bending experiments were carried out to evaluate the mechanical performance of the stent.

The interventional therapy of vascular stent implantation is a popular treatment method for cardiovascular stenosis and blockage. However, traditional stent manufacturing methods such as laser cutting are complex and cannot easily manufacture complex structures such as bifurcated stents, while three-dimensional (3D) printing technology provides a new method for manufacturing stents with complex structure and personalized designs. In this paper, a cardiovascular stent was designed, and printed using selective laser melting technology and 316L stainless steel powder of 0-10 µm size.

Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand)

March 2023

Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Institute of Hepatobiliary Diseases of Wuhan University, Transplant Center of Wuhan University, National Quality Control Center for Donated Organ Procurement, Hubei Key Laboratory of Medical Technology on Transplantation, Hubei Clinical Research Center for Natural Polymer Biological Liver, Hubei Engineering Center of Natural Polymer-based Medical Materials, Wuhan 430071, Hubei Province, China.

This experiment aimed to analyze the salidroside effect on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory activation in young rats with acute lung injury (ALI) via PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. In this study, sixty SD young rats were divided into 5 groups (control, model, salidroside low-dose, salidroside medium-dose and salidroside high-dose), with 12 rats in each group. ALI rat model was established.
