Purpose: Distinguished from cuproptosis and ferroptosis, disulfidptosis has been described as a newly discovered form of non-programmed cell death tightly associated with glucose metabolism. However, the prognostic profile of disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs (DRLRs) in ovarian cancer (OC) and their biological mechanisms need to be further elucidated.

Materials And Methods: First, we downloaded the profiles of RNA transcriptome, clinical information for OC patients from the TCGA database.

Background: The effects of Isopsoralen (ISO) in promoting osteoblast differentiation and inhibiting osteoclast formation are well-established, but the mechanism underlying ISO's improvement of Glucocorticoid- Induced Osteoporosis (GIOP) by regulating metabolism remains unclear.

Methods: This study aims to elucidate the mechanism of ISO treatment for GIOP through non-targeted metabolomics based on ISO's efficacy in GIOP. Initially, we established a GIOP female mouse model and assessed ISO's therapeutic effects using micro-CT detection, biomechanical testing, serum calcium (Ca), and phosphorus (P) level detection, along with histological analyses using hematoxylin and eosin (HE), Masson, and tartrate-resistant acidic phosphatase (TRAP) staining.

Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) represents the most prevalent form of secondary osteoporosis. Aucubin (AU), a principal active component found in traditional herbal medicines such as Eucommia ulmoides, has been demonstrated to enhance osteoblast differentiation. Nonetheless, the precise therapeutic effects of AU on GIOP and the complex underlying regulatory mechanisms warrant further investigation.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a prevalent chronic liver disorder that is linked to metabolic syndrome, mitochondrial dysfunction and impaired autophagy. Polydatin (PD), a natural polyphenol from Polygonum cuspidatum, exhibits various pharmacological effects and protects against NAFLD. The aim of this study was to reveal the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic potential of PD for NAFLD, with a focus on the role of mitochondrial autophagy mediated by sirtuin 3 (SIRT3), fork-head box O3 (FOXO3) and BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kDa protein-interacting protein 3 (BNIP3), and by PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1) and parkin (PRKN).

Objective: To compare the number of oocytes retrieved and clinical outcomes of ovulation induction in an older population treated with fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) (IVF/ICSI) using different rFSH options and the effectiveness of antagonist treatment to induce ovulation using gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists (GnRH-a) in combination with an human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) trigger.

Methods: A total of 132 fresh cycles were selected for this study, which were treated with IVF/ICSI in our hospital from March 2022 to December 2022. Observations were made according to different subgroups and the effects of different triggering methods on the number of oocytes obtained, embryo quality, and clinical outcomes.

The role of the paraspinal muscles in the development of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis based on surface electromyography and radiographic analysis.

BMC Musculoskelet Disord

April 2024

Department of Spine Surgery, Tianjin Hospital, Tianjin University, No.406, Jiefang South Road, Hexi District, Tianjin, 300210, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers studied how the muscles around the spine might be connected to a condition called idiopathic scoliosis, which causes curved spines.
  • They looked at 27 patients and used special techniques to measure spine angles and muscle activity in different positions.
  • The results showed that the way these muscles work can change based on a person's posture, suggesting that muscle imbalance might not be the main cause of scoliosis but could affect it during certain activities.

Background: Diabetic nephropathy (DN), one of the most frequent complications of diabetes mellitus, is a leading cause of end-stage renal disease. However, the current treatment methods still cannot effectively halt the progression of DN. Jian-Pi-Gu-Shen-Hua-Yu (JPGS) decoction can be used for the treatment of chronic kidney diseases such as DN, but the specific mechanism of action has not been fully elucidated yet.

Polygalasaponin F (PGSF), an oleanane triterpenoid saponin extracted from Polygala japonica, has been demonstrated with neuroprotective effect. However, the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of PGSF on focal ischemia remain unknown; METHODS: In this study, male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats aged 6-8 weeks were initially selected to establish a rat model of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) to evaluate the therapeutic effect of PGSF intervention and to investigate the impact of PGSF on the thioredoxin-interacting protein/NOD-, LRR-, and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (TXNIP/NLRP3) inflammatory pathway. Secondly, brain neuron cells were isolated, and the cells received oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) culture to establish the cell injury model in vitro.
