To examine the effect of natural orifice transluminal endoscopic radical resection combined with targeted therapy on the immune system and serum levels of CA199 and CA242 in individuals with colorectal cancer. We enrolled 90 patients admitted to our hospital with a diagnosis of colorectal cancer between February 2020 and May 2022 and divided them into 2 groups according to the treatment methods: observation group (n = 45) and control group (n = 45). Patients in the control group underwent conventional laparoscopic radical resection of the colon followed by targeted therapy, whereas those in the observation group underwent natural orifice transluminal endoscopic radical resection of the colon and targeted therapy.

Impact of inflammatory markers on the relationship between sleep quality and diabetic kidney disease.

Sleep Breath

March 2022

NHC Key Laboratory of Hormones and Development, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Metabolic Diseases, Chu Hsien-I Memorial Hospital & Tianjin Institute of Endocrinology, Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin, 300134, China.

Purpose: Both poor sleep and diabetic kidney disease are closely associated with inflammation. However, the correlation between poor sleep and diabetic kidney disease has not been well clarified. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the mediating role that inflammatory markers play in the pathogenic effect of poor sleep on the severity of diabetic kidney disease (DKD).

Background: Azilsartan medoxomil (AZL-M), an angiotensin II receptor blocker, has a well-characterized efficacy and safety profile in patients with hypertension. AZL-M is approved for use in over 40 countries globally; however, it is not yet approved in China. Therefore, a phase 3 registration study to assess the efficacy (antihypertensive effect), safety, and tolerability of AZL-M compared with valsartan in Chinese patients with essential hypertension was undertaken.

Clopidogrel is one of the most frequently used drugs in patients to reduce cardiovascular events. Since patients with different genetic variations respond quite differently to clopidogrel therapy, the related genetic testing plays a vital role in its dosage and genetic testing related to clopidogrel therapy is currently considered as routine test worldwide. In this study, we aim to use two different methods MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and pyrosequencing to detect gene variant of CYP2C19 and ABCB1.

To explore the efficacy and feasibility of the hemi-semilaminectomy microsurgical operation treatment of spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (SDAVF). The clinical data of 32 patients with SDAVF were analyzed retrospectively. Before operation all patients were diagnosed by spinal MRI and spinal angiography, 14 patients were treated by hemi-semilaminectomy approach and other 18 patients were by traditional laminectomy approach.

Non-small lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most common causes of cancer-associated death worldwide. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate cancer initiation and progression through different mechanisms. In the present study, we characterized a novel lncRNA named lncKLF6, which was upregulated in NSCLC and associated with poor clinical outcomes.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common type of thyroid cancer that accounts for 85% of thyroid cancers. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to play important roles in the biological processes in cancer. In this study, we analyzed the biological role of miR-4728 in human PTC process in human PTC cell lines in vitro.

Differential network as an indicator of osteoporosis with network entropy.

Exp Ther Med

July 2018

Department of Orthopaedics, Hebei Cangzhou Central Hospital, Cangzhou, Hebei 061001, P.R. China.

Osteoporosis is a common skeletal disorder characterized by a decrease in bone mass and density. The peak bone mass (PBM) is a significant determinant of osteoporosis. To gain insights into the indicating effect of PBM to osteoporosis, this study focused on characterizing the PBM networks and identifying key genes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate how acupuncture influences depressive-like behavior and specific biochemical markers (NF-κB, iNOS, and NO) in the brains of rats subjected to chronic stress.
  • Rats were divided into four groups to test the effects of acupuncture, a medication (Fluoxetine), or no treatment after inducing depression through various stressors over 28 days.
  • Results showed that acupuncture and Fluoxetine improved the rats' behavior (increased sucrose intake and activity levels) and reduced levels of certain proteins and molecules associated with depression compared to the stressed group, indicating potential antidepressant effects.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between three-dimensional echocardiography and the expressions of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α), heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients with myocardial infarction.

Patients And Methods: A total of 40 patients with acute myocardial infarction treated with three-dimensional echocardiography and 40 patients receiving normal physical examination were selected. According to whether the disease occurred, they were divided into the myocardial infarction group and the normal group.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective effect of chicoric acid on oxidative stress and inflammation in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. A cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury rat model was created via transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and rats were treated with various doses of chicoric acid (0, 1, 10 and 100 mg/kg). Neurological deficits and infarct volume were used to estimate the protective effects of chicoric acid treatment.

Objective: In this study, the changes of insulin resistance (IR) and pancreatic β-cell function in GDM patients were observed, changes of CTRP3 level in fasting serum and relationships with plasma glucose (PG) and pancreatic β-cell function were explored at the same time, and the correlation between serum CTRP3 and body mass index (BMI) was preliminarily discussed, providing a new way to identify the pathogenesis of GDM.

Patients And Methods: Data of women from 24 to 28 weeks of pregnancy were collected. 100 women were selected to form gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) group and another 100 women were chosen to constitute normal glucose tolerance (NGT) group according to the results of oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).

Oxyresveratrol and its glycoside are important natural active materials. As an effective tyrosine kinase inhibitor, oxyresveratrol may prevent herpes virus infection, inflammation and oxidative stress, as well as protect nerves. In addition, it is known to inhibit cell apoptosis following cerebral ischemia.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been demonstrated to play a central role in the initiation and development in many types of cancers including colorectal carcinoma (CRC). The purpose of current study was to investigate the clinical significance of serum miR-140-5p in CRC. Real-time PCR was performed to compare the expression level of miR-140-5p in the serum samples from 63 CRC patients, 20 patients with adenomas and 20 healthy controls.

Subclinical hypothyroidism (SH) is associated with hypercoagulability and hypofibrinolysis. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of L-thyroxine (L-T4) treatment and to evaluate changes in the hemostatic abnormalities of patients with varying severities of SH. We measured tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), D-dimer (DDI), fibrinogen (FIB), platelet counts (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and prothrombin time (PT) in 149 female subjects.
