Objectives: Mitral valve repair for Barlow's disease offers good outcomes but excessive and myxomatous valvular tissue is associated with systolic anterior motion. Although valvular disease might progress after repair and cause long-term systolic anterior motion, few reports focus on this aspect. Herein, we will review our 16-year experience with mitral valve repair for Barlow's disease and systolic anterior motion incidence.

Background: Patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease often exhibit adverse alterations in the geometry of their left ventricle, which may be ameliorated following renal transplantation. The objective of this study was to examine the structural and functional alternations in the heart using echocardiography in patients with end-stage chronic renal failure who undergone kidney transplantation.

Patients And Methods: A observational retrospective cohort study was conducted, concluding a sample of 47 patients who had undergone kidney transplantation at Cho Ray Hospital, Vietnam between 2013 and 2017.

Adult Obstructive Cor Triatriatum with Severe Mitral Regurgitation: A Case Report.

Heart Surg Forum

June 2021

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan.

Adult cor triatriatum sinister associated with severe mitral regurgitation is extremely rare. As these obstructive cor triatriatum feature hemodynamics that mimic mitral stenosis, a pressure load is theoretically generated only on the left atrial proximal chamber, and therefore the left ventricle is less likely to suffer volume loading. Here, we report a surgical case with such rare hemodynamics.

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed the genetic factors associated with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in 230 Vietnamese patients, finding a 23.5% diagnostic yield among familial and sporadic cases.
  • It identified TTN truncating variants as the most common genetic alteration, especially in younger patients, and established that genotype-positive individuals often experienced more severe cardiac issues compared to those with negative results.
  • The research highlights the importance of understanding the genetic landscape of DCM in Vietnam and suggests that addressing environmental factors may improve patient outcomes.

The unique characteristics of patients with acute coronary syndrome in the Asia-Pacific region mean that international guidelines on the use of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) cannot be routinely applied to these populations. Newer generation P2Y inhibitors (i.e.

Heart failure (HF) is a growing challenge in the Asia Pacific region. N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a well-established tool for diagnosis of HF; however, it is relatively underutilized in predicting adverse outcomes in HF. Multiple studies have demonstrated the prognostic role of NT-proBNP in HF.

High blood pressure is the leading modifiable risk factor for mortality, accounting for nearly 1 in 5 deaths worldwide and 1 in 11 in low-income countries. Hypertension control remains a challenge, especially in low-resource settings. One approach to improvement is the prioritization of patient-centered care.

Patient adherence to cardioprotective medications improves outcomes of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), but few adherence-enhancing interventions have been tested in low-income and middle-income countries. We aimed to assess whether a pharmacist-led intervention enhances medication adherence in patients with ACS and reduces mortality and hospital readmission. We conducted a randomized controlled trial in Vietnam.
