Background: The frozen elephant trunk (FET) technique is increasingly used for the treatment of acute and chronic aortic arch disease. This study reports our single center experience with the FET technique in patients with complex aortic disease.

Methods: Between 2009 and 2019, 111 consecutive patients underwent aortic arch surgery in our institution using the FET technique for acute type A dissection (AAD group; n=75) or non-acute type A dissection (non-AAD group; n=36; 10 patients with chronic type A dissection; 26 patients with aneurysm), respectively.

Background: Vein graft disease (VGD) impairs graft patency rates and long-term outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). DuraGraft is a novel endothelial-damage inhibitor developed to efficiently protect the structural and functional integrity of the vascular endothelium. The DuraGraft registry will evaluate the long-term clinical outcomes of DuraGraft in patients undergoing CABG procedures.

This registry study aimed to distinguish between early surgical outcomes of CS patients with non- ST -segment-elevation myocardial infarction ( NSTEMI ) and ST -segment-elevation myocardial infarction ( STEMI ). Methods and Results Patients with NSTEMI (n=1218) or STEMI (n=618) referred for coronary artery bypass grafting were enrolled in a prospective multicenter registry between 2010 and 2017.

Buckberg versus Calafiore Cardioplegia in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndromes.

Background: Choice of cardioplegic solution plays a pivotal role in special subgroups of patients referred for on-pump cardiac surgery. This retrospective analysis aimed to assess the impact of intermittent warm (Calafiore, Cala) versus intermittent cold blood cardioplegia (Buckberg, Buck) in patients referred to coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery due to acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Methods: From 2008 to 2015, all consecutive patients undergoing urgent on-pump CABG surgery due to ACS ( = 950) were retrospectively analyzed.

Background: Rapid deployment aortic valve replacement (RDAVR) has emerged as an attractive alternative to conventional aortic valve replacement. This single-center study directly compared two commercially available rapid deployment valves with regard to clinical outcomes, valve-related complications, and hemodynamic performance.

Methods: A total of consecutive 156 patients underwent RDAVR with the Intuity Elite (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, CA [Intuity group, n = 117] or the Perceval S (Sorin Group Italia Srl, Saluggia, Italy [Perceval group, n = 39]) between September 2012 and March 2016 at our institution.
