Bioactivity of fluorophenyl thiourea derivatives: Antioxidant efficacy and inhibition of key diabetes-related enzymes.

Thiourea structures, known for their wide-ranging bioactivity, have significant potential in diabetes management. In this study, it was aimed to examine the antioxidant capacities of fluorophenyl thiourea derivative compounds and their inhibition studies on α-amylase and α-glycosidase enzyme activity. Antioxidant capacity was determined using Fe-Fe, FRAP, and Cu-Cu reducing analyses, DPPH· and ABTS· scavenging experiments.

Identification of Nocturnal Leg Cramps and Affecting Factors in COPD Patients: Logistic Regression and Artificial Neural Network.

Although there are many sleep-related complaints in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, nocturnal leg cramps have not been adequately and extensively studied. This study fills a significant gap in the literature by determining the prevalence and influencing factors of nocturnal leg cramps in COPD patients. However, our findings also underscore the need for further research, inspiring future studies and interventions in this area.

Experiences of adolescents affected by earthquakes: A qualitative study.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to explore the experiences of adolescents affected by the earthquake.

Design And Methods: This study was carried out in a descriptive phenomenological design, which is a qualitative research method. This research was conducted as a qualitative investigation utilizing a phenomenological approach to explore the experiences of 12 adolescents through the purposeful snowball sampling method.

Effect of milling procedures in CAD-CAM systems on the color changes of CAD-CAM polymethyl methacrylate resin material as interim material.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of new and used burs on CAD-CAM PMMA resin color changes following thermocycling.

Materials And Methods: Twenty disk-shaped specimens (10 × 2 mm) were made using a single brand of CAD-CAM polymethyl methacrylate resin (Polident) for the color test. Group N consisted of half of the specimens that were machined using the new tungsten carbide bur set, and Group U consisted of the specimens that were milled using the used bur set (500 machining time).

The goal of this study was to biomechanically and morphologically research both the impact of mobile phone like radiofrequency radiations (RFR) on the tibia and the effects on skeletal muscle through oxidative stress parameters. Fifty-six rats (200-250 g) were put into groups: healthy sham (n = 7), healthy RFR (900, 1800, 2100 MHz) (n = 21), diabetic sham (n = 7) and diabetic RFR (900, 1800, 2100 MHz) (n = 21). Variations of Rn concentrations over active fault system in Simav, Kütahya, Western Turkey: Possible causes for soil-gas Rn anomalies.

Soil-gas Rn concentrations were investigated on an active Simav Graben/Fault System in Western Turkey. Measurements to understand the causes of variations in soil-gas Rn were conducted in three distinct sections such that seven selected measurement points in each section lie on a line that is approximately perpendicular to the main fault line. It was found out in each section that values obtained at two adjacent points were abnormally higher than the rest.

Background: This study aims to compare serum HMGB-1, 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT), TAS, TOS, and OSI levels in Wettype Age-Related Macular Degeneration (wAMD) patients and healthy controls to determine the correlation of these parameters with each other.

Methods: Thirty patients with Wet-type Age-Related Macular Degeneration (wAMD) and 27 healthy adults, as controls were enrolled in the study. We determined the TAS and TOS levels in serum samples of both groups using commercial kits on a microplate reader.

Protective effect of royal jelly on fluoride-induced nephrotoxicity in rats via the some protein biomarkers signalling pathways: a new approach for kidney damage.

Introduction: Protective effect of royal jelly (RJ) on fluoride-induced nephrotoxicity was investigated in this study.

Methods: 42 healthy male Wistar rats (n = 42, 8 weeks of age) were divided equally into 6 groups with 7 rats in each; (1) Group-1: Controls fed with standard diet; (2) Group-2: RJ [100 mg/kg] bw (body weight), by oral gavage; (3) Group-3: Fluoride [50 mg/kg] bw, in drinking water; (4) Group-4: Fluoride [100 mg/kg] bw, in drinking water; (5) Group-5: RJ [100 mg/kg] bw, by oral gavage + Fluoride [50 mg/kg] bw, in drinking water; (6) Group-6: RJ [100 mg/kg] bw, by oral gavage + Fluoride [100 mg/kg] bw, in drinking water. After 8 weeks, all rats were decapitated and their kidney tissues were removed for further analysis.

The study was carried out on 42 male rats divided into six groups with 7 rats in each group: two control groups, two injury groups and two treatment groups. One of the control groups received a basal diet while the other one was fed a basal diet supplemented with royal jelly (RJ) (100 mg/kg). The two injury groups were given 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg fluoride, respectively.

Exposure of married women to spousal violence: A community-based study in Eastern Turkey.

Background: Violence against women deprives women of their rights to enjoy equality, security, dignity, self-worth and fundamental freedoms and devalues them; is one of the most significant social facts that force women to exist at a lower social level than men and constitute a significant obstacle to the formation of healthy societies. This study was conducted to determine the status of exposure to spousal violence of 15 years and older married women living in the city center.

Methods: Family health centers in Elazig Province were visited and 792 married women were selected from the related records by systematic sampling.

This study aims to determine Turkish Muslim physicians' and nurses' views about the Do Not Resuscitate order and the factors influencing these views. This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study. The sample consisted of 327 health workers including 77 physicians and 250 nurses employed in internal and surgical clinics, intensive care units and emergency services of two different university hospitals located in the northeast of Turkey.

The levels of oxidative DNA damage and some antioxidants in chronic osteomyelitis patients: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Osteomyelitis (OM) is a local or generalised infection of the bone and bone marrow which may be multifactorial in its causation. In this study, we aimed to determine oxidative DNA damage and antioxidant status of patients with chronic osteomyelitis.

Material Method: In this study, patients with chronic osteomyelitis and healthy controls were compared for descriptive characteristics (age and gender) and serum levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), 8-hydroxy-2-deoxy guanosine and antioxidant enzymes catalase, glutathione and superoxide dismutase.

Measurements of surface scale changes in different denture base materials by stereophotogrammetric technique.

This study aimed to evaluate the surface scale changes in the denture base material using different polymerization techniques, such as heat-cure/pressure polymerization system and injection molding technique with the stereophotogrammetric technique. The function of a complete denture is related to the adaptation of its base to the supporting areas. Proper adaptation of the base depends on the stability and retention of dentures.

Methods: The cross-sectional prospective study was conducted at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Van, Turkey, from May 2018 to May 2019, and comprised inpatients diagnosed with osteomyelitis, and healthy controls. Serum IMA concentrations were determined spectrophotometrically at 470nm wavelength.

Armillae mellea immobilized nanodiamond was used as sorbent. During the study, critical parameters influencing the extraction performance were investigated in detail.
