The Effects of the Fat Distribution of Body, Skeletal Muscle Mass and Muscle Quality on Acute Pancreatitis Severity: A Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study.

Objective: We aim to investigate a possible relationship between acute pancreatitis (AP) and body fat and muscle parameters in computed tomography (CT).

Methods: Computed tomography images of 107 patients with AP were scored in terms of AP severity using the modified CT severity index. Muscle mass, muscle mass index, visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue area, multifidus muscle/fat attenuation ratio, total psoas index (TPI) and Hounsfield units average calculation (HUAC) values were performed.

Social Media Addiction among Turkish Young Adults Is Partially Mediated by Automatic Thoughts and Social Problem-Solving Skills.

Objective: This study aimed to reveal a process model of the relations between automatic thoughts, dysfunctional attitudes, social problem-solving skills, and social media addiction. In this context, the aim was to investigate the mediating effect of automatic thoughts and social problem-solving skills in the relationship between intermediate beliefs and social media addiction.

Methods: This study included 56 male and 107 female young adults aged 18-25 years who were referred to the psychiatry outpatient clinic of Yenimahalle Training and Research Hospital, Ankara, Turkey.

Medical student education in transfusion medicine, part II: Moving forward to building up a "Know How" education program in transfusion medicine for under-graduate medical students.

There is a general trend in changing paradigm in teaching medicine; the emerging concept relies on a competence-based approach. Transfusion is either a discipline or a subsidiary of others depending on the countries and systems; this variability can be explained because transfusion is a medical care that is transdisciplinary. As a collective of professionals in both transfusion medicine practice and education, authors aim to propose a revision of the way education in transfusion medicine is delivered in this era of the 'global competency approach'.
