Primary Laryngeal Granulocytic Sarcoma: A Case Report.

Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) is a malignancy of the bone marrow precursor cells, often associated with acute or chronic myeloid leukemia, forming isolated masses with extramedullary spread. It rarely shows laryngeal involvement. In this case report, a case of GS accompanying acute myeloid leukemia involving larynx with mass of neck and mediastinum as two separate masses was presented.

Pay for performance system in Turkey and the world; a global overview.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the pay for performance system applied nationally in Turkey and in other countries around the world and to reveal the effects of the system applied in our country on the general surgery.

Material And Methods: Current literature and countries' programs on the implementation of the pay for performance system were recorded. The results of the Turkish Surgical Association's performance and Healthcare Implementation Communique (HIC) commission studies were evaluated in light of the literature.

Modified bilateral fasciaperichondrial flap for prominent ear correction.

Objective: Various techniques have been described in the literature for prominent ear correction. These cartilage-preserving or cartilage-shaping techniques have their own advantages and disadvantages. We aim to achieve aesthetic and stable results with low complication rates using combinations of these methods.

Does Experiencing Fertility Problems and Having Infertility Treatment Affect the Women Stress and Working Life? The Turkish Experience.

Background: Infertility processis a strestfull period that effects of couple's life, especially their working life. It can be difficult for women with fertility problems to fulfill work responsibilities during infertility treatment. The current study aimed to explore effects of infertility treatment on women's stress and hence working life.

Surgical Burr-Assisted Lateral Osteotomy Technique in Septorhinoplasty.

Achieving aesthetic and functional results in rhinoplasty requires meticulous techniques, and postoperative edema, ecchymosis, and pain can deteriorate the desired outcomes. Different osteotomy techniques are defined to have optimal outcomes while reducing edema, ecchymosis, and pain. In this study, the authors compared conventional and power-assisted surgical burr osteotomy techniques in terms of early postoperative complications.

Adhesion molecules before and after propylthiouracil in patients with subclinical hyperthyroidism.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of propylthiouracil treatment on adhesion molecules in patients with subclinical hyperthyroidism.

Methods: In this study, a total of 168 patients diagnosed with subclinical hyperthyroidism were treated with propylthiouracil for one year. The levels of adhesion molecules, consisting of sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, and sE-Selectin, before and after the treatment were measured and compared.

Maternal Emotions and Experiences of Mothers Who Had Breastfeeding Problems: A Qualitative Study.

Background And Purpose: Many women are ceasing to breastfeed in the early period due to the breastfeeding problems and difficulties they perceive. Consequently, the approach and support of health professionals to mothers in the post-partum period is very important. The objective of the study is to determine the emotions and experiences of mothers who had breastfeeding problems by using Watson's Theory of Human Caring.

Examination of morbidity and mortality of cases according to intra-vehicle position and accident mechanism.

Background: Traffic accidents are still an important public health issue in our country and intra-vehicle accidents cause substantial morbidity and mortality. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of seating position on morbidity and mortality in traffic accidents.

Methods: Patients who were admitted to the Emergency Department, Faculty of Medicine, Ege University between May 1, 2014 and November 30, 2014 due to injuries in motor vehicles and who signed informed consent were included.
