This study investigates factors influencing physical activity based on the Transtheoretical model (TTM) among adolescents. This study was conducted on 745 individuals between the ages of 12 and 16 years and was analyzed using a generalized linear model (GLM) approach with appropriate link functions using both classical and Bayesian frameworks. The results show that in model 1, the probit link function is a more appropriate approach to determine the risk factors for physical activity.

The environmental persistence of pharmaceuticals represents a significant threat to aquatic ecosystems and human health, while limitations in conventional wastewater treatment methods underscore the urgent need for innovative and eco-friendly degradation strategies. Photobiocatalytic approaches provide a promising solution for the effective degradation of pharmaceutical contaminants by harnessing the synergistic effects of both photocatalysts and biocatalysts. In this study, we developed a photobiocatalytic composite by co-immobilizing laccase enzyme and zinc oxide nanoparticles on bacterial cellulose synthesized from orange peel waste.

Individuals with metabolic syndrome have a high risk of developing cardiovascular disorders that is closely tied to visceral adipose tissue dysfunction, as well as an altered interaction between adipose tissue and the cardiovascular system. In metabolic syndrome, adipose tissue dysfunction is associated with increased hypertrophy, reduced vascularization, and hypoxia of adipocytes, leading to a pro-oxidative and pro-inflammatory environment. Among the pathways regulating adipose tissue homeostasis is the wingless-type mammary tumor virus integration site family (Wnt) signaling pathway, with both its canonical and non-canonical arms.

Chitosan, a commonly used dietary supplement, is believed to have the potential to decrease body weight by binding to dietary fats and decreasing their absorption. However, due to conflicting results from various studies, this review aimed to investigate the effects of chitosan supplementation on obesity indicators in adults. To find appropriate randomized clinical trials (RCTs), a thorough search was conducted across electronic databases like PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and ISI Web of Science.

Leishmaniasis is currently considered a major health problem in Iran, posing an increasing threat to society's development in various dimensions. This study aimed to detect infection in wild-caught sand flies in Sari City, northern Iran. Sand flies were collected using sticky traps, and DNA was identified using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targeting the ITS2-rDNA region, followed by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis.

Objectives: Hepatotoxicity is a severe outcome of methotrexate (MTX) therapy, limiting its clinical use and contributing to its related morbidity and mortality. This study investigated the hepatoprotective effects of nitazoxanide (NTZ), an antiprotozoal drug, against MTX-induced hepatotoxicity and whether endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-modulation underlies the expected beneficial effects of NTZ.
Methods: Thirty-six rats were allocated to six groups, one control group and five MTX groups, where induction of hepatotoxicity was achieved via injecting MTX (20 mg/kg).

Cancer treatment remains a significant challenge, with chemotherapy still being one of the most common therapeutic approaches. Based on our initial studies of symmetric monomethine cyanine dyes, which showed potential against colorectal cancer, this study explored several asymmetric cyanines, aiming to develop more potent and selective antitumor agents, particularly against colorectal cancer. In pursuit of this goal, we have designed, synthesized, and structurally characterized twelve new cyanine dyes.

Background: RSV is a common seasonal cause of respiratory infections in children and potentially adults and is considered a major cause of mortality and morbidity. While several studies on RSV have been conducted in Saudi Arabia, none have specifically focused on the southwestern region, where distinct climatic and demographic factors may influence RSV pattern. The current study aims to describe five years of experience with RSV cases among hospitalized patients and factors associated with intensive care admission from a tertiary hospital.

Cytolytic vaginosis or, classically, Doderlein's cytolysis is characterized by significant growth of species of the genus, which leads to high amounts of lactic acid in the vaginal environment. has been proposed as a key pathogen in this clinical condition. The symptomatology of cytolytic vaginosis is commonly confused with that of vulvovaginal candidosis, leading to inadequate and ineffective azole therapies.
