Overexpression of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) was already associated with the loss of p53 function as cancer progresses in lung, breast, and cervical cancers. Cancer biomarker detection has faced challenges and barriers due to various limitations, including a high limit of detection, low sensitivity, time-consuming techniques, and expensive equipment. Hence, the present investigation is designed to develop a cost-effective novel biosensor based on a charge-based affinity bait molecule to detect the PDGFR, thus overcoming the limitations and challenges with an immune technique based on antigen-antibody interactions.

Objective: SNAP-25 is one of the key proteins involved in formation of soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) complexes that are at the core of hormonal secretion and synaptic transmission. Altered expression or function of SNAP-25 can contribute to the development of neuropsychiatric and metabolic disease. A dominant negative (DN) I67T missense mutation in the b-isoform of SNAP-25 (DN-SNAP25mut) mice leads to abnormal interactions within the SNARE complex and impaired exocytotic vesicle recycling, yet the significance of this mutation to any association between the central nervous system and metabolic homeostasis is unknown.

Attachment of the ubiquitin (UB) peptide to proteins via the E1-E2-E3 enzymatic machinery regulates diverse biological pathways, yet identification of the substrates of E3 UB ligases remains a challenge. We overcame this challenge by constructing an "orthogonal UB transfer" (OUT) cascade with yeast E3 Rsp5 to enable the exclusive delivery of an engineered UB (xUB) to Rsp5 and its substrate proteins. The OUT screen uncovered new Rsp5 substrates in yeast, such as Pal1 and Pal2, which are partners of endocytic protein Ede1, and chaperones Hsp70-Ssb, Hsp82, and Hsp104 that counteract protein misfolding and control self-perpetuating amyloid aggregates (prions), resembling those involved in human amyloid diseases.

In our work, one-step electro-deposition method was adopted to produce polyaniline (PANI) and functional multiwalled carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) films on glass carbon electrodes, and the modified electrodes were applied as an electrochemical sensor for determination of 10-hydroxycamptothecine (10-HCPT). The f-MWCNTs were handled by ultrasound processing in concentrated oxidizing acid solution, which can obtain a wonderful dissolution in water and attach new functional groups, such as -COOH and -OH. Then, aniline monomer could polymerize on the surface easily.

A novel sensitive electrochemical immunosensor has been designed for determination of tacrolimus (Tac) based on spherical carrier amplification strategy. In this work, a spherical signal carrier was prepared by conjugating gold nanorods (AuNRs) functionalized L-cysteine (AuNRs@L-Cys) onto polystyrene nanoparticles (PS) to form a nanostructure, greatly increasing the amount of loaded capture antibodies. The PS was a stable spherical functional polymer with large specific surface area and was labeled with AuNRs@L-Cys via coupling reagent to increase active groups, biocompatibility and conductivity.

Background: Posterolateral tibial plateau fractures (PTPF) remain a challenge for orthopedics surgeons because the special anatomical structures of the posterolateral corner of knee joint including the fibular head, the lateral collateral ligament, and the peroneal nerve, which impedes the exposure of the fracture fragments and need irregular implants to get a stable fixation. The purpose of present study was to introduce a new articular fracture fragments restoration technique for three patterns of PTPF and investigate the relationship between associated soft injuries and fracture patterns.
